What does GOLD mean on RCI??

I posted this in another thread -that has nothing much to do with RCI.

I think that really I would like it to have it's own thread. Looking forward to any thoughts re this matter

"I am still confused about the use of the term "Gold" by RCI. In terms of the Crown and Anchor Society (RCI's passenger reward system), anyone can become "Gold" after only 1 cruise/3 nights. We had friends onboard who had previously done 1 cruise with RCI and had a normal blue card (like first timers like me) with a small "gold member" sticker on it. However , there were parts of the ship (such as the prime theatre seats you mentioned) where there were signs saying "Gold CARD" only. I have done a bit of research and can't find anything definitive -- but I am thinking that "Gold CARD" is something that suite passengers get, and nothing to do with Gold membership of the C&A.

Yes, Barry, you are correct.

"Gold" is the first tier in the Crown and Anchor Society (Royal Caribbean's loyalty program). To be come a gold member one must have at least 3 points. Each night of a cruise earns you 1 point unless you are in a Junior Suite or higher in which you case you get 2 points per night. Points are awarded upon completion of a cruise - ie you can't progress to the next tier mid-cruise.

Passengers who travel in a suite (with the exception of a Junior Suite) are issued a Seapass which is gold in colour. This entitles them to certain onboard perks such as access to the Concierge Club, reserved seating in the theatre, etc.

Hope this helps.

Gold Sea Pass cards are issued to pax staying in Grand Suite or higher level staterooms. Has nothing to do with Crown & Anchor level. It grants them access to certain areas (such as the prime theater seats you mentioned) as well as the Concierge Lounge.

And there is me thinking I am Gold now with one cruise under my belt :)

I was looking forward to the reserved seats in the Theatre and around the pool that no one was using.

So is there any benefit to gold C&A?

I also recently figured out that I'm gold with 8 points. I'm not sure why though since I did a 4 night cruise with them in a boring ocean view cabin.

You get a coupon book when you next sail, get to go to a past guest presentation and a few other minor perks. Nothing major, but better than nothing as well!

Were you travelling solo on that cruise?

You can join in The Crown and Anchor society chat on RCI web but you will be ignored as you are not yet diamond so insignificant:D:D:D

Hmm - yes, well - that is why I asked the question. I could not see how anybody with "Gold" C&A membership could get such illustrious benefits. :)

Having done a cruise with Royal doesn't mean you are a C&A member, you still have to join the club during or after your first cruise which is free & you can get past cruise points applied.

Being just a Gold C&A member even has it's perks, like priority boarding - we got onboard Voyager a few weeks ago at 11am no problem.

The welcome back get together with free alcoholic drinks & canapes, plus a quick hello/thankyou from the Captain & staff.

The voucher booklet per member, we had $10 worth of free internet, some free alcoholic or soft drinks, Johnny Rockets Milkshakes, casino vouchers & lots more 10% type discounts off shops & spa etc etc

You can also take advantage of any C&A member savings certificates posted online in the members section, we got $200 off our recent cruise using one of these vouchers.

Here is the link to the benefits per level.

After Gold you get bathrobes in your non suite cabin, extra party events, behind the scenes ship tours, discounts on balcony & staterooms, welcome gifts etc.

If you are lucky enough to get onboard a cruise that has been declared a 'members cruise' it means you will get gifts throughout the cruise & have more special events you can attend. Our first cruise was a members cruise & our MDR fellow table guests were C&A members - the gifts they got were really nice.

We will be 15 days short of Diamond by the time we get back from our cruises later this year so will be interesting to see how the perks improve as we climb the C&A ladder.:D

Diamond & above members also get additional perks such as their own lounge area etc.

After Gold level you can get reciprocal perks on Celebrity/Azzamara cruises also owned by RCCL so you can cruise most anywhere in the world with those 3.

I figure if you are intending to cruise a bit over the next decade or so then it's worth joining a cruise line loyalty program, especially since it's free to do so.

Someone mentioned the 'Concierge Lounge' Is that for those booking Concierge Cabins? On RCI or Celebrity?

If so what occurs in the 'Concierge Lounge.' (You can see I am a virgin Celebrity Cruiser)

The 'concierge lounge' is available for some of the suite passengers, as well as for Diamond Plus and Sapphire C&A members. You can get free drinks (including spirits, cocktails, etc) as well as v.nice nibblies. :D

  • 1 year later...
I noticed an area on deck 12 I think on Radiance last we cruised on her that had an area at the front of the ship that has "Gold Seapass holders only". Anyone know what this is?

You are referring to reserved seating in the theatre for Suite guests and Diamond Plus/Pinnacle Crown & Anchor members.. These seats are held until show time, then usually can be used by everyone else.
