sunshine2587 Posted February 20, 2015 #1 Share Posted February 20, 2015 I'll be cruising on the Carnival Splendor this September out of New York. I have never cruised out of New York. Does anyone have any hotel suggestions that are close to the port?
NYcruzzer Posted February 20, 2015 #2 Share Posted February 20, 2015 There is a Holiday Inn Express on 48th between 11th and 12th Ave. You can see the ship from the hotel. Reasonable rates and free hit Breakfast.
njhorseman Posted February 20, 2015 #3 Share Posted February 20, 2015 There's also a Comfort Inn on the same block as the Holiday Inn Express. There are numerous other hotels nearby in a variety of price ranges, and many, many hotels just a short taxi ride from the pier. FYI, hotel rooms in Manhattan can be expensive and scarce at certain times in September, such as Fashion Week, which will be September 10-17, 2015 and the UN General Assembly meeting. You should decide on a budget and start looking for something sooner rather than later.
marco Posted February 25, 2015 #4 Share Posted February 25, 2015 Check out priceline, as well. We've gotten some VERY good deals on Manhattan hotels. If you can save over $100 on a hotel, paying $20 more for a little longer cab ride from that hotel to the pier would be worth it.
jammerz Posted March 1, 2015 #5 Share Posted March 1, 2015 The Holiday Inn Express is real convenient.
138east Posted March 1, 2015 #6 Share Posted March 1, 2015 No reason to limit yourself to being "close to the port" in Manhattan, particularly if you want to enjoy the city. Any hotel in midtown will be a short cab ride from the pier. You can look at Hotwire for hotel deals. Right now for your Sep 26 date I'm seeing a Midtown Central 3* hotel with an 85% approval rating for $148 plus tax. That's a great deal for Sep which is high season in NYC. The Midtown Central area will put you within walking distance of Times Square, Central Park, and 5th Avenue as well as a short crosstown cab ride to the pier. Rare Got2Cruise Posted March 1, 2015 #7 Share Posted March 1, 2015 The Holiday Inn Express is real convenient. I have to disagree with the "convenient" Yes it is close to the port but being between 11th and 12th Avenues is not convenient as far as mass transit or walking places.
