Does anyone know what you do with the scooter rental when you are on the Cruise ship at night :o

need help and not sure if anyone has the answer

There is parking for them at the dock .

Unless you are an experienced motorcycle rider, rent scooters is illadvised.

Too many tight roads, crazy drivers, and like in many countries, a total disregard for cyclists.

And add that they are driving on the "wrong" side of the road :eek: , it really is a problem with the instinct you develop as a driver..

So many horror story on so many thread here...:(

It is true you need to be very aware when riding a scooter in Bermuda due to being with cars on the road, and driving on the left vs. what most of us are used to.

We have safely ridden rented scooters several times in Bermuda.

There is an area for you to keep your scooter overnight. Last week there were at least a dozen lined up outside the ship overnight.

Anyone have an idea of about how much it costs to rent the scooters? Any info would be appreciated, thank you!

Depends on what you want, one day, multiple days, one person, two person? Easier to Google scooter rental in Bermuda or else Oleander's and Eve's Cycles and get all details.

My wife and I rented scooters last Sunday to Tuesday and had a great time. We were very caustious and often let the traffic pass by keeping to the left and letting the locals go on there way. Orlando scooters is right there in the Navy Dock Yard when you get off the ship and you do have a spot at the dock to park them overnight.:)

We had no issues with the scooters and have no motortcycle experience, the most important thing to remember is "take your time you are on vacatation so go slow and let the locals pass you if they want to.:)

We rented from Oleander's last year and have reserved them again this year. The prices vary depending on if you rent a one or two seater and how many days. We drove slowly (not that the bikes go very fast anyway:p) and moved out of the way of anyone who was behind us. You have to be super careful at the roundabouts since you are on the opposite side that what you are used to.

You can bring them on the Blue Route ferry that runs between Hamilton and Dockyard, but not the Orange Route ferry that runs between St. George's and Dockyard. (They're also permitted on some Green Route ferries but tourists almost never use this route.)

If you have a transportation pass there's no additional charge for the scooter. If you're paying by token, the scooter requires an additional $4 token .

The locals WILL pass you and in situations you would not think they could, just stay aware. that being said, once in a while the traffic backs up from a slow tourist who won't pull over. If you find yourself creating a traffic jam, be courteous and pull over as soon as you can find a safe place. There are many bus stops that make pulling over easy.

The Bermudians are the most courteous people you will ever meet, but they are used to a driving style that appears more agressive than American driving. Its not that they are more aggresive, they just expect courtesy from everyone. A car or scooter may pull out in front of you from a side road. In the states that would be rude, but the courteous expectation in Bermuda is to slow a little and allow room for the car. Well except the buses, give them a lot of room. LOL

I don't suggest riding in the rain if you can prevent it. A local told us rain is when most of the scooter accidents happen.

The rentals provide helmets with the scooter because they are required by law in Bermuda. But our experience is that a golf or baseball style hat under the helment helps them to fit more comfortably.

As others have mentioned, please be careful if you do choose to rent a cycle. Heritage Wharf cycle parking is located at the entrance to the pier and King's Wharf cycle parking is located outside the terminal building.

Glad to hear it was ok!! We absolutely loved renting the scooter, and leaving it locked outside our ship!

We will for sure rent again, next time for the full duration we are there!!!

We used Elbow Beach .. they picked us up at the dock and we had a great trip to their shop to pick up our scooter....

Bermuda is such a beautiful, friendly and safe island... we can't wait to return!
