You want to talk football? Well, Liverpool just beat Swansea 2-1, and Derby County beat Fulhan 5-2 both in the League Cup. OK?:)

Seriously though - no hockey during the NHL playoffs in May. I've watched football (NFL - not soccer) in the Atrium but that was on the Jewel.

Buckets of beer are like a buy 5 get 1 free deal so whatever the price of the beer you want.

Poolside bbq is great though I don't remember having steaks there.

We were on the BA in May and not only did they have NHL playoffs on in the atrium all three games (and it was fairly early in the playoffs), they actually moved atrium performances to accommodate. It probably depends a great deal on the ship and the itinerary.

Buckets of domestic beer were around $30 with gratuity. The domestics were the 16oz cans. Around $5 more for imported. These were the 12 oz cans or bottles.

I can guarantee you that there are more losers than winners in the casino!

I've been able to watch football and baseball the two times I've been on. The poolside BBQ usually very good a few misses. The casino was very good to me won a couple hundred at craps over the 20+ hours I played there over my 2 cruises with NCL and hit 1000 on a slot with a free play I purchased and had to spend so all in all casino on NCL has been good to me. Great cruiseline overall.

We were on the Gem for the NHL Cup finals last season and every game was shown, various spots around the ship and on the TV in our cabin. Same with the NBA finals. I don't think regular season games get the same coverage tho. We were lucky they alternated nights so we had a game on every night :D

Most cruises NCL will also show 1 NFL game in all the time slots. Only way to be sure you will see your team tho is if they are the FNIA, MNF or TNF game.

I love talking about football. My team are 3rd in the championship because we have an inferior goal difference to Watford and Derby. It is still a long way to the end of the season in May though so we will all wait and see what the next 6 months brings.

Beer wise, well the beer on the ship is pretty poor. I don't really get how some of it can actually be called beer. We are so well blessed where we live with having 2 breweries within 3 miles of here and about 5 more within 6 miles. Prices are pretty cheap too, only £2.20 a pint in the club in the village. I tend to drink mostly wine and cocktails when cruising because of this.

Never been too impressed by the BBQ but the casino has it's moments for me. I finished last cruise a few hundred up.

A little tip with the buckets of beer. When you get on board, ask your steward to empty out your fridge. Then, after you're done imbibing out by the pool, buy another bucketful and bring it back to your room. Stick it in the now empty fridge and voila! You've got nice cold beer to drink out on your balcony. :D

Poolside BBQ is typically hot dogs, burgers and brats. Never found steak out there. The rest of it's been covered. Buckets beer are buy five at regular price and the sixth one is the cheapest and it's free.

Games are what ever is on. Always something available, just not always the game you want.

I love talking about sports. Anywhere. Anytime. Baseball is #1 with football a close second. Next is Hockey then basketball. Right now enjoying there will be a 7th WS game. Yea. Well, on the sun last year I stopped to watch a baseball game at the hotel/casino in Curaçao. When I wandered back to my cabin I was surprised to see the game on the TV in my suite. It was preseason but that was ok. It was also during March madness, and the sports bar on the sun had many many games on. It was a fun place to hang out.

Oh, one small comment. I am female.

Here we have some classic examples of two countries separated by a common language.

US - football - hardly ever uses the feet except for running

UK - football - followed the world over - has a proper World Cup covering the whole world

US - beer - generally ice cold feeble watery crap - now beginning to catch up with micro breweries (still not common on ships though)

UK - glorious nectar of the gods in a range of styles (well there are a few misses - mainly home brewed versions of imported lager e.g. Fosters)

I probably should not discuss fags, fannies and bums... ;)

Bit like the World Series, where only one country gets to enter teams. Vague echoes of North Korea IMHO..........

Just got off the Jewel this past weekend. The ESPN channel they get carried both versions of football. Got to see a couple of UEFA matches while taking some downtime in my cabin during the day. NFL was on Sunday, Monday night, and Thursday might. NFL was also broadcast in O'Sheehans and the bars in Bar City.

Do you remember which ESPN it was ?

Figures crossed they will have the US Grand Prix this Sunday.

Looks like you were on the Gem 2 weeks after me - I have insane Ranger fan family members who were crazed about not being able to watch the games - they asked in every bar. Other people on the ship came to find them during games as they knew one would have their cellphone checking the game no matter how much it cost.

Luckily I'm in NY where we have beer bars that have menus with over 300 brews from around the world. Thank goodness they are getting better at brewing here too - not that watered down garbage they've been peddling for years.

I'll never understand why watching sports is a man thing. The man in me, which is usually angry, finds it hard to watch over paid jocks make tons of money doing very little. How about real man things to do on board like skeet shooting? Those were the days.....

Fixed it for you. :D

We call UK Football "Diving".
