Well.... I am bringing cards, Uno, Phase 10 and travel Scrabble. A word search book. A large insulated cup with a mug. 45SPF sunscreen. A highlighter for the fun times paper. Cash for casino and Bingo. Cash for tips for room service and what not. Conditioner for my hair. An old credit card for the safe. Single use tide with a dryer sheet and 2 rolls of quarters. If I can think of anything else out of the norm of clothes and personal meds I will let ya know.

i love all the feedback! These are going on my list!

I think the main thing is a Power strip, there is only one outlet in the room and if you have multiple items that need power it will go to good use.

why an old credit card for the safe?

The safe takes anything with a magnetic strip. We use our AAA card.

Mesh Beach Bag

Thermal Mug or Water Bottle

My Kindle and Charger

Ziploc Bags

Bonine and Ginger Pills

Excedrin

And.... Arizona Lemonade/IceTea Sticks to mix with ice water!

-books & magazines

-tubes for the beach (blew them up when we got there) $1.00 rather than renting mats for 5 of us!

Most of this stuff people suggest is pretty much a waste of time. You don't need a powerstrip, duct tape, over the door hanger, hamper, alarm clock, ect. Just bring the usual stuff you bring on a vacation or road trip. All that extra stuff just takes up space and you don't need it...

This. We will bring a garbage bag for dirty clothes instead of a hamper. We found there was enough counter space in the bathroom that the overdoor hanger is a waste of luggage space, otherwise Clothes, Sunblock, toiletries, $, Passport/ID. That's pretty much what our luggage will consist of.

I take exception with the alarm clock...I don't need the alarm, but I DO need a clock in the room. I HATE not knowing what time it is. Have been suggesting clocks in cabins on comment cards ever since we started cruising, but noone listens to me.:mad: I would also suggest throwing in a folding umbrella for each person if you are going to a beach at a port. They take up no room in your suitcase or beach bag and they are so great if the sun gets too hot.

I figure I'm on vacation, I don't really want to know what time it is all the time. Usually its just my hubby and I so we are on our own schedule. If there's something we really want to do we get to it on time for sure, and if we needed a reminder we'd just set an alarm on our cell phone.

I'm bringing my netbook & some movies, so if nothing is on at the hotel or on the ship at night we can watch a movie on the small screen. When we traveled last year we had a layover in an airport, we put in our earplugs and watched 'into the wild' we were in our own little world and it passed the time really nicely.

To add to this: we are platinum so we get free wash/dry/fold, but before that we did the garbage bag for dirty laundry also. What I do when I pack: I put everything in plastic grocery bags. T shirts in one bag, socks and stockings in another, undies in another, shorts/slacks in another, bathing suits/cover ups in another, like that...anything that is NOT a hangable that goes from travel bag to closet goes in a plastic bag and I put the bags in the closet. So when I am dressing, I can pull out each bag as needed and take out what I want. It makes life so much easier!

you said that you are driving and it is 14 hours.

Hit the library in your town for a few books on tape.

The lists are good but the best advise is to take nothing but the list.

Hit a local Walmart/Target/you name it and by it right before you get on the ship.

we just got back from the Miracle. I wish I would have packed a bungee cord to keep the door open. I didn't pack enough conditioner or Sun block. Who knew you'd need more than 1 bottle of each??? I also will pack a clock for the room next time. We napped every day, but with it being so dark in the room, I didn't know if it was 4pm or 10pm!

I packed an over the door hanger thing that worked out well for my hubby's ties.

But wow, i DID over pack clothes...holy crap! whoops! LOL

I bring a bottle of Downy Wrinkle Release (in a gallon zip lock bag) and pack my shoes in plastic bags. As we go through clothes, we place them in the plastic bags. I do NOT do laundry on vacation. We bring enough clothes to mix and match. Undies, we bring enough for every day and one or two extra sets each--gotta have clean undies :o. I bring one pair of dress shoes, one pair of sandals, water shoes, if we plan on going to the beach, and a pair of sneakers--for a seven day cruise.

I second the alarm clock. On our first cruise, we had an interior cabin and without an alarm clock, we almost slept through the first day! I guess we were tired.

There is usually a channel on the TV in the cabin that shows the current date and time, so there is no need to bring a clock.

There are even a few of us left who still wear a wristwatch! We use the telephone for wake up calls. If concerned about oversleeping, we also set an alarm on the watch for backup or set another telephone wake up call about 10 minutes after the first one, or order room service coffee.

No need to bring a bungee cord to keep the balcony door open either. If you prop a book into the space by the hinge, it works very nicely. You can take a thick book and open as many pages as you wish to hold the door open as far or as little as you prefer.

You can also use the door stop in your cabin to prop open the door. Just wedge it in the side space. I loved the conditioner sample packet in the cabin so when I was out, I just left a note for our steward to please leave me some more if available and had 5 packs on the table that night! ;)
