My parents got a letter from the Carnival Players Club giving them a free cruise if they book by Tuesday and sale between now and December. Has anyone ever done this? Do they give you the worse cabin on the ship?

I also need to find out how much they are really gambling...they say not alot but I've never been offered a free cruise!:(

If they got offered a free cruise they are gambling thousands(depending on what they play). Comps from Carnival are not like here in AC :)

My bet is mom got the offer :)

I play pretty much anything but my wife and I both play slots too and its possible to do good if you get a good machine. Its a little harder not being regulated like AC and Vegas. They make the rules

Actually dad got the offer. He says he didn't spend much but asked to be rated every time he sat down and ended up playing with their money most of the time.

I am definitely a low roller 50-100 per day. We took them up on the offer and are on the Valor at Thanksgiving in a lido deck balcony for port taxes and gratuities. The only catch I could see is if you cancel the cruise without their insurance ($49) you must pay for the cruise based on the going rate at the time of booking. Needless to say I took the insurance and danced away with an almost free cruise. I do not know how they decide whom to send the offer to, but their plan worked and we cancelled our Royal Caribbean cruise scheduled for Thanksgiving. I guess they want people on the ship spending money at any price. I would, however be royally peeved if I were I high roller and did not get the offer.

I cruise twice a year, drop between 4-5 K per year in their casinos and did not get the offer. I usually get 50$ comp at the cage...

I could've written this exact same post myself. Tables and slots. Hey, at least I usually get the drink card on the first night now...

Haven't had a winning trip on a Carnival ship since 2010. These free cruises make absolutely no sense!

My wife (greatest wife in the world!) got the free cruise letter last week!

We are going on The Conquest, 7 day, lido balcony over Thanksgiving week...

She is not a big gambler either, penny slots mainly; last cruise she did play on the dollar machines some and won some $$$. I play craps & gamble with a bit of money... never get anything from carnival...

This is not true. We've gotten two free cruises and we don't gamble anywhere near "thousands".

Anywho...we got great rooms both times, OP. Tell them to call. They give you your room number when you're on the phone. Have the ship pulled up and check it out while you're talking to the rep. That's what we did, and if we didn't like the first selection, we just asked for a different one. No problem. Congrats to your parents!!! :)

Seems like Thanksging week may be a slow time since our cruise on the Legend is also at that time. Original cabin number that was mentioed was a great location midship but had the pool and buffet on the deck above. Pulled up a deck plan and now have the exact location one deck below with, just a few doors from the elevators. It will seem strange being so high up as last month we had a cove balcony on the Dream and were so close to the water. Still cant figure out how they decide who gets the letters as my wife didn't even have enough points to get the free drinks. I can't believe how much some people must spend as on the last cruise someone sat at the next machine and had over 10,000 points and it was only the 3rd day.

Interesting, last cruise I received the "Drinks on Us" card for my slot play and spent $250 a day or so at the black jack tables and the Players Club stated it wasn't enough for any comps on our upcoming cruise. No idea how they think.

Hi everyone. Just chiming in to say I finally got the "magic letter" today for free cruise. I play the penny slots. This will be my 6th carnival cruise and have played the slots maybe the last three cruises. I played this last cruise making sure my card was in and spent around 600.00 for the week playing (winning and losing) . This time things were different because the host came and intoduced herself the first night to me and they started sending goodies to my room nightly after that. I know last year I spent more and didn't see anything. My friend got an offer after only two cruises last year so I was a little perplexed why I hadn't received one. I called and booked my seven day cruise tonight and they gave me a nice extended balcony in good location. Which really surprised me since I was thinking I'd get an inside next to the boiler room or something lol. All it cost me was taxes and port fees which came to 203.00. So I am very happy. My friend who I mentioned above wasn't so lucky, she waited two days to ponder cruises and when she called back everything was gone. So if you get one grab it up fast.

It's true that you must jump on these offers as soon as you get them. We got an extended balcony midship on the Legend and only have a 20-25 minute drive to the port. My wife waited a couple of days before calling so we will never know what might have been available had she called sooner.

Seem like the Legend is a popular one. I took the Sunshine out of New Orleans but all they head remaining was inside cabins on the floor below Lido deck. It will be my 1st time in an inside cabin (always do aft extended balconies) but hey it was FREE so I'm not complaining. I needed New Orleans to avoid travel costs (can drive) and the time of year (week before Christmas) worked well work wise. So I'm happy but would have loved a balcony since that is what I normally roll with. But as my roommate said, how much time do we spend in the cabin and she is right. Last year we had our normal balcony aft cabin and used it twice for about 30 minutes each time. I think the hard part will be not knowing what the weather is like when I get up in the morning, but can always turn on the tv and look at the ship's camera for that.

Like the others on my cruise last year I did enough to get the drink card by the second night, won decent the 3rd night and played off of those winnings my last 4 nights on penny slots. No big spender here either. However I do always use the casino on every cruise, always use my card, always call the players club before I go to make sure they know I will be on board, and usually allow myself a $40 - $100 a day limit.... depending on if I'm winning. For example, if I win $800 I may give $200 back in play that day.

Forgot to mention port charges / taxes were $89 PP for the 7 day cruise to Jamaica, Mexico and Grand Cayman... really you can't beat that for any type of cabin..

How is it I win almost 5K of pure T luck on my breeze cruise, get the drinks on us card and then go back on a cruise to nowhere in May and get 200 bucks and drinks on us card again, to gamble away 800 in 2 days and be told I have NO money or drinks on us waiting for my next cruise in October? That makes no sense!

Thanks to this thread I called. However promotions was closed. Calling in the morning. It is for only certain ships and it is a free cruise but you pay taxes, etc. Get you on. Anyways the cruises I want to do it on it isn't working. Will see what the PTC is for the ones I want to book. Believe those give you 55% off.
