faceartistx Posted September 22, 2014 #1 Share Posted September 22, 2014 If I book a guarantee balcony but there aren't any balconies left on the ship, will I be upgraded to a suite? :)

You may get upgraded to a mini.
Mary Ellen Posted September 22, 2014 #3 Share Posted September 22, 2014 Possibly - but also possible is that someone already in a balcony will be upgraded to a suite, opening up that balcony cabin for you.

The cruise is just a few days away, so don't they normally do upgrades before now? I thought if I booked this close to the date, it would just assign my room right away. Krazy Kruizers Posted September 22, 2014 #5 Share Posted September 22, 2014 Welcome to Cruise Critic. On HAL some people who have booked guarantees months before the cruise have not gotten their cabin assignment until they got to the pier. It is hard to predict when you may get yours. My father-in-law once received his cabin assignment as he was on his way to the port. Cabin assignments happen all the way up to check-in. If you don't have your cabin number before arriving at the pier, the porters will have a list so your bags will get to your cabin.
paul929207 Posted September 22, 2014 #7 Share Posted September 22, 2014 No balconies available does not mean that all have been assigned. There could be 5 unfilled balcony guarantees (including you) and 5 balconies unassigned. They could also upgrade someone else to a mini and put you into what had been their balcony
dorisis Posted September 22, 2014 #8 Share Posted September 22, 2014 Balcony to Suite? Not likely!
dancinman66 Posted September 22, 2014 #9 Share Posted September 22, 2014 Not necessarily but could happen to junior suite but more likely a person of high status in a paid balcony will get the upgrade Sent from my iPhone using Forums
cb at sea Posted September 23, 2014 #10 Share Posted September 23, 2014 They will likely upgrade those who paid full price for the balcony to give YOU a balcony. Don't count on an upgrade!
