Gem was our very first NCL cruise, which was in September 2021. I would say, however, that (at least for us) Gem doesn't feel like a "small" ship. It's not as big as the biggest RCCL ship, but that isn't to say it's small. I suppose terms like big and small are subjective, anyway. But it was plenty big for us. We loved it and would book it again without question.

And yet, every single time this comes up, somebody (or several somebodies) comes up with some variation of this argument: "Why is NCL the only one doing this? None of the other lines are. NCL must be at fault." I realize I can't stop people from saying this, but it gets tiresome after a while.

Exactly. Celebrity is among those who eat the cost. I'm fairly sure the higher priced lines like Oceania, Viking, Regent, etc. do, too. Personally, I'd rather pay less overall for my cruise than have the "baked in" price be much higher, but that's just me. Other people don't mind paying a lot more as long as they don't have to see these extra fees.

Who knows? Could depend on a multitude of factors.

Thank you! We have our first VV cruise booked for next January for my birthday. The yacht atmosphere is one of the principal things that interested me. I also like to work out and it's nice they feature that, as well. My wife and I can't wait.

My wife does something similar. Whenever we get breakfast, she'll ask for something vegetarian and they can always make it. Same thing at the MDR and the specialty restaurants. We love the included Asian places, too, because they're always able to make veggie-friendly plates for her. Since I eat everything, I really can't comment on the variety, for me there's always a tremendous amount of stuff to choose from.

I'm glad you didn't report him, it would be rather cruel to have someone lose his job and potentially the only source of income of his family over something like this.

You are VERY lucky. I wanted to get something cleaned while in Portugal and a full day was the minimum turnaround time. Didn't have the time to wait, unfortunately.
