Embarkation from Seward for Alaska cruise

Was simply trying to inject a little humor in my answer to your question. Obviously, you didn't take my answer as humorous. So...have a good life! -
Difference between Balcony and Club Balcony on the Pearl
cruiserbear55 replied to salzdt's topic in Norwegian Cruise Line
There are three draws under the TV/ shelf area. There are two more open shelves in the closet, under the safe. At the top of the closet is another shelf which holds the life preservers, with a couple square feet left to store additional items. It's enough to get by. The mini-suites on the Dawn and Gem have much more storage. The tubs are gone. Have been replaced with fairly large walk-in showers. IMHO, they are much better than the high, narrow tubs that were in the cabins. The difference in space between a balcony and a club balcony suite is approximately one hundred square feet, or about an extra ten by ten room. The balconies are fifty four square feet, compared to thirty eight square feet in a regular balcony cabin. The best place to book a club is on the starboard side front, under the spa, library, card room, and photo area; or on the port side in front of the fitness center. One last thought. We experienced a lot of "motion of the ocean" on our recent cruise. The closet doors are on rollers, and they would be constantly hitting the closet sides. Not good for sleeping! Eventually, I grabbed the rubber door wedge by the cabin door and wedged it between the two closet doors. Problem solved!! Enjoy your cruise! -

Swim? Seriously, fly to Anchorage and take a bus to Seward. -
Had $100.00 casino OBC credit last week. One of the places I could not use it was in the casino!. So bought the soda package and a couple coffees at Starbucks, Still left the ship with $8.00 or so credit.

Discontinue direct mail?
cruiserbear55 replied to newbiecruiser2022's topic in Norwegian Cruise Line
Give USPS a break! "Junk Mail" comprises over 50% of total mail volume. Everytime someone " goes paperless" it's another lost first class stamp or metered mail revenue. Times 12. If everyone could eliminate all junk mail, there wouldn't be a post office. Maybe the OP could pass the offending material on to someone else, possibly generating revenue for NCL? Even though he/she doesn't care for the NCL experience, his/her acquaintances might. -
Huh? You don't cash out non-refundable OBC. That is why it is called non-refundable.

Are sailings close to capacity?
cruiserbear55 replied to New2cruise2022's topic in Norwegian Cruise Line
Just off the Pearl yesterday. At our CC meet and greet, the Hotel Director said there were 1783 passengers. Ships stated capacity is 2394. So about three quarters full. Never ran into big crowds anywhere, and never a wait for anything. -
Just off the Pearl this AM. We went to O'Sheehan's for lunch on embarkation day. Ordered Coney Island hot dogs and plain, crispy chicken wings. The hot dogs were a poor imitation of what a hot dog should be, and the rolls were blackened and burnt. The chicken wings. They were, without a doubt, the worst wings we have ever been served. It was almost like they didn't have any plain wings, so someone took some hot wings and washed the sauce off . Then put them in a, I think, microwave oven and then served them to us. They were limp and disgusting. O'Sheehan's has always been our favorite place to get a quick bite. Even as soon as our last cruise in April, the wings were always a treat. Not anymore!! Also had breakfast there the next morning which was almost as bad. We're not foodies at all. Most of the time, anything will do, as long as it's edible. But this time, O'Sheehan's didn't make the cut.

The Pearl is back again next year in Beantown. The Gem returns in 2024. Nothing on future radar about the Dawn returning. She left Boston in 2018 for New York, and the Gem did the opposite move. Would love to have the Dawn back in Boston. She was, is, my favorite ship.

Electronic Deal or No Deal & Bingo
cruiserbear55 replied to KiddieKruzer's topic in Norwegian Cruise Line
You're on a ship at sea. You are part of a captive audience. They ( the ship owners) make the rules. You can elect to play. Or not. we realized what a sham Deal or no Deal was the first time we played it, and have never been back. Same with Bingo. What they charge to play and what they return in winnings is ridiculous. -
Bermuda and Covid Testing, Is this Over?
cruiserbear55 replied to js's topic in Norwegian Cruise Line
It is current info through the 24th. There are still 4 ships due to dock before the 25th. Enchantment of the Seas and Celebrity Beyond arrive on the 22nd: Disney Magic on the 23rd; and Adventure of the Seas on the 24th. If you arrive on or after the 25th, no testing is required. Why they don't have separate forms, one for those arriving before the 25th, and one for those arriving after the 25th is beyond me. -
Coffee and tea set-up? What is this?
cruiserbear55 replied to Stuart4321's topic in Norwegian Cruise Line
Best coffee on the ships, IMHO! -
Bermuda and Covid Testing, Is this Over?
cruiserbear55 replied to js's topic in Norwegian Cruise Line
As of 10/25, or 10/22 depending on which Bermuda site you're viewing, testing is no longer required. You do, however, still have to apply for the Bermuda Travel Authorization. $40.00 fee. Proof of vaccination is still required. If not vaccinated, you'll have to provide proof of international health insurance, such as NCL Booksafe. -
There is one scheduled for our Boston to Bermuda/ Bar Harbor cruise embarking 10/28.

You're right! It is a pain to try and upload photos into the e-docs, especially for the computer illiterate such as myself. But then I discovered that there is an easier way. When you get to the photo page (page 7?), you'll see an icon of a camera under the photo area. Click on the camera. Voila!! An oval appears on the screen. The camera is now ready to take your picture. Just center your mug into the oval, taking care not to have any glare, and click the camera. Your picture will now be entered into the e-docs, and you're done. Easy-peasy!! The question of why we have to take a picture if they're going to do it at the pier anyway shall remain one of life's deepest mysteries!

"Travel With Guarantee" ... really???
cruiserbear55 replied to Shellbelle28's topic in Norwegian Cruise Line
You're replying to a thread from approx. fifteen months ago. If you don't quote the poster in your reply, they won't get a notification and will have no idea you responded to their post. -
You are entirely clear. Check-in does not open until 21 days before embarkation, at 12:01 AM EST. Technically speaking, if you are on the west coast, you could start checking in at 9:01PM on the 22nd day. They also shut check-in down three days before embark. I assume you would then have to check-in at the pier, but really have no idea..
-
They'll take another one at check-in. And the picture is not visible on your card. So no worries!!

New to NCL and have some Questions.
cruiserbear55 replied to SpanishForker's topic in Norwegian Cruise Line
Soda package is $9.95 pp/pd. Plus 20%gratuity. So $83.58 for a 7 day cruise. -
You can buy just a single package for yourself. I purchase it for myself every cruise, and my wife basically sticks to water, and milk with meals. If you have OBC, you can wait until you board to buy the package.
-
Sorry, was just an assumption on my part. Have never been one of the chosen few to get mailed tags from NCL!
-
The tags you print from your e-docs are 3"x 8 1/2". Not sure, but assume the tags mailed by NCL are the same size.
