  1. There is a variety of movements, some by clubs and some by the AFL. north Melbourne has some games in Hobart, and Hawthorn in Launceston. Both under sponsorship of the Tasmanian government. They are currently playing each other in Hobart. The league has allocated games to Darwin and Alive Springs. Anyway, just found this (will be out, so no more updates from me):
  2. Can’t vouch for how true this is, but gave me a chuckle
  3. Well, i put my kookaburra pictures in the wrong week. Now we have a little epee fencing captured on the way home on Sunday afternoon I used to fence, so was allowed to have some close up action.
  4. Our Sunday nature outing was to Yarra Bend Park (Yarra River, Melbourne) to photo flying foxes. Unfortunately the bats did not get the memo and went on holidays. I did find this big kookaburra for some posing. Later I may post some fencing photos taken on the way home from the Victorian State Fencing Centre
  5. It was a cold and still Sunday morning as I prepared my my walk. However, the amount of noise from the fog horns really did make me wait a couple of hours. This is the improved vista of Melbourne.
  6. My next door neighbour is getting ready to retire. I told him to buy a calendar to keep track of what day it is.
  7. A few years ago there a cruise ship which kept breaking down. After about a lot of repair stops, it broke down entirely in Bass Strait. Norwegian Star, 2017. A/Some very large tugs we’re sent to tow it back to Melbourne. I don’t know whose tugs, but there are some around the coast which can be deployed.
  8. Don’t forget Mawson’s Hut museum, just on the wharf.
  9. Near the city and enjoy challenging art, consider MONA. They have their own ferry service adjacent to cruise ship berth. Now only open Fri-Mon.
  10. I have some cousins in the Richmond Windsor area. Very damp, but they are mostly higher up.
  11. Coooold morning in Melbourne town. Said 4C when i put my head above the blankets. At least it is nice fungus weather.
  12. Congratulations. Enjoy. Retiring was a great decision for me. It allowed me to go on a tour of the operating theatres of Melbourne. I thought that the ongoing relationship with the university would be a good thing, but my PhD student commitments did put a crimp on ease of getting away.
  13. Now a reminder … If you or your loved ones have not yet had flu vax, get on with it. At the last reporting date, 19/6, there had been 147,000 cases in 2022. Approx 50,000 in the lead up 2 weeks. Numbers are up about 30% on equivalent time period in 2019. Severity, especially among young children, is up. Both Victoria and NSW have extended the free vaccine period for about 2 weeks.
  14. Welcome back, Don. Although it may be a little difficult to tell when you get threatened with International Roast.
  15. I was at Cape Legrand as a shorex from the Queen Elizabeth. Will worth it if you have the chance. Where is this little boat leaving?
  16. Lucky Bay Cape Le Grand NP Esperance, WA. I thought I had a photo from that spot without the kangaroos (12/2019), but could not find it.
  17. Oops, got distracted by the Eagles vs South Fremantle in the WAFL. Nic Naitanui played his return game after about 3 months out with a medial ligament injury. Dominated.
  18. I am guessing his spell check does not understand the French word for hope. A grand attempt anyway.
  19. We have been having a rather unpleasant start to winter (1 June) -- wet, windy, cold. Friday was a big improvement and i took the camera out for a walk. First photo 5pm across Williamstown Beach. Cut across the point for the second image of the city for some reverse sunset, then looking up the street from outside my house.
  20. You can’t delete posts. No idea why. Best is to edit out the text and leave the empty box. But you only have a few minutes to do that before the post is locked.
