Ropes Course -- 48" Height Minimum
PrincessArlena'sDad replied to Aoumd's topic in Carnival Cruise Lines
I think it's pretty standard that height requirements include the footwear that will be used on the attraction. As the ropes coarse requires sneakers, that is what they will be measured in. If he is on the borderline, you could take him first thing in the morning. He'll be slightly taller then than in the afternoon or evening - enough to make a difference! -
Increased prices in the fun shops (water, etc) today
PrincessArlena'sDad replied to psikic's topic in Carnival Cruise Lines
Actually, I would say that is high. Our 7 night in Aug 2023 on the Glory is about half that (for an Oceanview). -

Family Harbor Lounge question
PrincessArlena'sDad replied to suebee53's topic in Carnival Cruise Lines
Apparently, on the Vista, at times, this may be the only hot water available on the ship! 😈 -
Allstate rewards often has this as well. That said, no reason you can't combine the two - even if a Black Friday sale is only for pre cruise purchases like excursions or spa treatments.

We are also a family of 5, and we asked ourselves this same question. The family suite is 50% larger than a standard cabin, so while not as much space as two cabins, they are fairly large. You get two bathrooms either way (but only 1 toilet in the suite). Family harbor suites have the walk-in closet (so should be ample storage space) and 2 tvs. Do you prefer: - Family harbor lounge, and other suite perks (such as priority embarkation and check in day two days earlier), cove balcony or -More space, two toilets, standard balcony or cove balcony We chose the family harbor suite. We don't spend that much time in the cabin, so the space is sufficient. But, we are looking forward to using the family harbor lounge and make use of the suite perks.

Pixels Math - Can this be explained?
PrincessArlena'sDad replied to PrincessArlena'sDad's topic in Carnival Cruise Lines
They could just get rid of the prints completely. I'd much rather take a usb drive home than worry about prints being damaged while traveling home. -
Please hurry and respond to this thread before they raise the price of pre-purchased photos, and this thread becomes outdated! On our booking page, we can get: 5 photos for $99.99 (up to 20% off) 10 photos for $199.99 (up to 40% off) 15 photos for $299.99 (up to 50% off) How can those advertised percentages be accurate for all three package costs? The cost per photo is the same for all 3 packages! ($20/photo). (Actually, I discovered the answer... the 10 photo package includes a canvas print, and the 15 includes the canvas plus digital copies. But, the page showing the 3 packages just has the % off and number of photos. Not very good marketing to not list the inclusions on the pixels front page! I'm sure many don't even click on the bigger packages to learn of the extras that are included, which really could entice some to pay for the larger packages.)

Time needed to visit Mikvé Israel-Emanuel Synagogue
PrincessArlena'sDad replied to PrincessArlena'sDad's topic in Curacao
Thanks! That's really helpful. We all walk pretty quickly, so we'll take those time estimates. We're in port until 3pm. How much time do you think we should plan on spending in the museum? With a port arrival time of 7am, we're hoping to do something else in the morning, then lunch, then the museum. -
With the curfew they now have, I'd say that the hours the ice cream is closed are now the hours there shouldn't be any messes made. Let's face it, having the stations closed during the night isn't saving much in the way of ice cream stuff. It's not having a crew member servicing the machine for all those hours. I do wonder though... will the ice cream be available 24/7 in the family harbour lounge?

Most self-destructive business practice I had in a restaurant: at an Italian restaurant I asked for extra marinara for a $30 dish. They brought a little cup of it that they usually use to serve butter. We laughed at how stingy it was, but I didn't ask for more as it took so long for them to serve us that. When I got the check, I discovered they charged me $1.50 for the extra sauce. I agree: not serving mains only shows it's more about cutting cost than cutting waste. They really should be honest about it, though. Given the economics of the world, most people would understand that prices have to go up.

It was in Massanutten, VA

I don't mind the all you can eat restaurants charging extra for uneaten food. The portion sizes were pretty small, and you can order 1 serving at a time, as many orders as you would like. It works well, actually. We tried fighting the charge for the rice we didn't order, and they pointed to the menu where it states "no modifications" It was only a $2 charge.
-
I think the reason they don't like to serve main dish only is they want you to fill up on sides. Sides are generally cheaper. We went to an all you can eat Japanese restaurant where you order as much as you like from a menu, but they charge extra for unfinished dishes to avoid waste. Towards the end we ordered a shrimp hibachi no rice, as we knew it wouldn't be eaten, and that is how they served it. We got the bill, and they charged us for the uneaten rice we didn't get.

On our Disney cruise, pirate night and dress up night had lines for pictures much longer than other nights. And, I'm sure disney sold much more pictures from these special nights than the other. I agree pictures should be digital instead of printed. And decreasing food waste without affecting the cruise experience should be the goal.
-
One way to decrease waste and make everyone happy: Make lobster an appetizer option as well, and limit to 1 lobster app per person. Or maybe 2 lobsters total per person total. This would probably have less waste than people ordering two full entrees in order to get a lobster and a full size protein

Disney has elegant nights. The characters get all decked out in their formal wear and there are long lines for pictures.

First Princess Cruise - Alaska 2024
PrincessArlena'sDad replied to PrincessArlena'sDad's topic in Princess Cruises
I read somewhere... don't remember where... Nov 8. I have no clue if this was reliable info. -
We'd like to visit the Mikvé Israel-Emanuel Synagogue and Jewish Cultural Historical Museum. We were thinking of doing a snorkeling tour in the morning, and then upon return to the cruise port, walk over to the museum. How much time would we need to walk each way, and how much time should we plan to spend there? We're on the Carnival Horizon (I think there are two piers there, but not sure which we'll be docked at). Thanks!

Green Eggs and Ham Breakfast is now available to book in advance under specialty dining. It'll say "sold out" for all days except the day they actually have it. $10 adults, $8 children.

Faster To The Fun - Might Be Back?
PrincessArlena'sDad replied to talkorpi's topic in Carnival Cruise Lines
I guess they might want to keep the "as low as $50" marketing for FTTF. If they keep it at $90 for 7 days I think I'll get it for our Glory cruise. -

How much was it? -
I'm assuming that the appetizer size order of pasta doesn't count towards the two. If so, I'm guessing this will be become a lot more popular (though not with me, I actually don't like pasta that much). The only time I ever ordered 3 entrees was lobster night. Two lobsters and something else (sometimes steak, though not always, depended on my mood... and how good the dessert menu looked). I think they might have gotten $5 more from me.

Faster To The Fun - Might Be Back?
PrincessArlena'sDad replied to talkorpi's topic in Carnival Cruise Lines
$50 was the original price when it first started, for all cruises. Then they started charging more for longer voyages. I remember I purchased for $50 like a day or two before it went up to $70 for our 5 day cruise. 3-4 day cruises might have still been $50, at first. However, the generic FTTF page price listing became "starting at $50." It stayed this way, even when there were no more cruises with a $50 FTTF. So, it probably just hasn't been updated since then, but I don't expect any cruises to actually have a $50 FTTF.
