  1. I agree for any school holiday time out of Galveston book as far ahead as possible and I am aware of Galveston demand as I lived in Texas for 18 years. I was just making the statement as I have never seen prices that high before and when dd was in school we sailed spring break every year. - In fact the 5 night Adventure is $5000 more than 7 night Allure for the same week and has more availability as well. there are over 70 cabins left with options available in every category Even 2 people in an interior starts at $3600 i just didn’t expect it to cost more than Allure for the same week.
  2. When they did section it off they did start checking boarding passes for those in the suite line and telling those in the wrong line to move to the other long queue which made the ones right at the front mad as they were there before us and you can see how long the queue was when they started trying to sort people out (picture taken at 9:43 am) for suites it’s the doors to the far right. The non suites are to the far left. Aka the mass queue at the far end.! I don’t remember the last time I turned up so early to such a long line.
  3. PC is better at having lines roped off early with signs for lines for suites, key and I saw signs with boarding times as well. How enforced it was leaves a little to be desired but it was sectioned off.
  4. Having sailed Star class, MSC Yacht Club and Retreat and being low maintenance on all 3 being low maintenance really should not effect the standards and quality of service we receive. I do agree it is Genie dependent but it shouldn’t be down to the luck of the draw which genie you get. What she could have done is said that’s fine but I am also escorting another group off at that time so is it okay to go with them or would you rather wait for me to return to escort you privately. She only reluctantly offered that when we said that we would make our own way there. Another thing we did notice was that on both MSC and Celebrity, when we ordered breakfast for the cabin it was on time and brought by our butlers and piping hot. On Royal it was late and brought by room service and warm. Not a game changer but also not exactly elevated service either.
  5. What I mean is Royal seem to send all their Caribbean sailings to CocoCay where they can. some ships offer an eastern then western option, some ships do same itinerary week in week out. if I look at Beyond sailings for an example it might be an 11 night Panama transit followed by a southern Caribbean not doing canal to an eastern etc. when other lines are able to vary ports for the same ship and different itineraries for different ships there is imho much more choice. Even Carnival offers a Bahamas option from Galveston to mix things up.
  6. I just saw a 5 night 4 guests in 1 balcony on Adventure for $13,000 i can get retreat on Celebrity for 11 nights with drinks, wifi, grays included for less than that.
  7. Agree that Royal need to up their game when it comes to itineraries- it is very repetitive They seem more focused on getting as many ships as they can to Coco Cay and Labadee
  8. If you can afford yacht club, even in interior that’s my recommendation. Other wise Butchers Cut and Hola Tacos ($17.99 all you can eat) are excellent
  9. Yes Prima has one menu but it is extensive. In addition it does have rotating options every day. In addition the food was executed way better than Royal.
  10. Did you select dining then click on the restaurant then select the day then select the meal
  11. Depends in where in Europe the guests are from. Italians and Spanish generally tend to sail MSC and Costa, in part because of the primary languages used on board. Growing up in UK Royal was not always the number one choice for our cruises. And yes I have sailed MSC several times and have several more booked with them and also sailed Costa although would not go back.
  12. I agree when I did Princess the food was excellent. Out of our more recent sailings Beyond and Prima really stood out overall with no bad meals for the duration of the cruise. Royal we have had hits and misses.
  13. It’s just what works for us. That way if we see a good deal on dining packages etc we can jump on it. The spontaneity for us is waking up and going okay let’s book a cruise today what we booking lol
  14. It goes to show how inconsistent Star Class is. we were in SLS and our genie had 2 other cabins being 2 bed Aqua Suite and and another large multi occupancy suite. We really don’t ask for much as we are quite low maintenance and have sailed Royal a lot, however when we did make a request we always were playing second fiddle to the larger groups she had. For example she offered an escort to Barefoot beach and asked us what time we wanted to get off. When we said as soon as we dock she said she couldn’t do it then as she was taking another group at that time. As we had Cabana booked we wanted to make the most of our day so in the end she reluctantly agreed to take us with the other group. Didn’t really strike us as going above and beyond. I think where MSC excel in this is they have so many butlers onboard, that as soon as you dock they have all the butlers lined up in Top sail lounge. You go in the next butler in line escorts a small group off. And then they return, so there is always a butler available to escort you. They work much more as a team so you never wait for assistance if your butler is tied up with another guest.
  15. Yes - have met Super Mario in lounge waiting to get back on as he had disembarked early to go home to get a change of clothes and brought his fresh clothes back on.
  16. The Freedom was scheduled to arrive well over an hour before the Wish was due to arrive. In fact from the port schedule the Wish was the last ship due to arrive in port. Given conditions when the other ships arrived they probably could not dock but there may have been a break in the weather when the Wish got there later.
  17. US sailings maybe, but the OP is asking about Europe. European guests dress up more formal than US based cruises.
  18. Just FYI Europeans tend to dress up a bit more than US sailings. So those that quoted percentages for US sailings are pretty accurate for US departures but not Europe. But as you stated Europe sailing you will find it’s more smart casual and more suit jackets than Caribbean sailings.
  19. On our last cruise I had it updated. Told no towels or totes available. So I asked for 2nd bottle of wine well they delivered cupcakes.- I went back to LA and explained I have more than enough food could I have the second bottle of wine. She gave me a list to choose from, 3 days later I got a completely different bottle of wine to what I requested. And the first bottle I had wasn’t right either. guess some ships just give whatever these days.
  20. Agreed. We are D+ went in as Elite. Points are exclusive to each individual line. Celebrity does not award points anywhere near the same scale as Royal. Eg if we stay in a suite we get 2 points a night on Royal, but our X suite got us 18 points a night with them. the programs are completely separate and do not cross over. the only cruise line that I believe will allow you to go in as top tier level is MSC . We did status match with them and went in at top tier which was nice as gives us all the best benefits with them.
  21. If you call in revenue should be able to override the cabin to a solo. Not all agents are able to do it by put they can escalate it up to override the occupancy restriction.
  22. https://www.celebritycruises.ae try these numbers there should also be contact info on the paperwork they sent you. sorry you had to cancel hope you get well soon.
  23. How did you book it? Does your son not have a phone you can use? You stated email or phone number so I am confused as to why you can’t call.
  24. Do not email, it can take days for them to see emails if they actually read it. You need to call whoever you booked it through.
