P&O Cruisers - What are things like where YOU are?
purplesea replied to Host Sharon's topic in P&O Cruises ( UK )
Morning all, Hope everyone is well. Home again after what seemed a very long journey home yesterday. Flight was on time and managed to get an earlier train than that originally booked, thinking we would be home by 11 pm instead of half past midnight. Wrong! Train we caught at Reading was packed, standing room only when boarded, as previous train had been cancelled. The train then got later and later and we arrived back in Penzance only 10 minutes ahead of our original time. I hate to think how late we would have been if we hadn't caught the earlier train!😳 All your posts about Christmas cake, mince pies and chocolate makes me think that I had better get myself sorted too. I will also need to defrost my freezer first. Have just been talking to Mum and she has said that she has plenty of apples for me that I need to collect. Pam -

Another hot day here, 23c. I didn’t sleep well last night as the temp didn't drop last night. I'm all packed and ready to go to the airport for our flight home this afternoon😪 I hope our journey home has less hassle than outward journey. -
I have Jet2 flights for the middle January front Bristol to Tenerife and was able to book our seats last Friday.

Went out again this afternoon and ended up down the beach as the sun was setting. Had a meal at a restaurant this evening and although it's 10 pm it's warm, 23c. -

It started off today as cloudy, with a slight breeze, but it's cleared up and is now 28c. Went out this morning to visit a village that is being renovated to a style reminiscent to Gaudi. The tiles remind me of Portuguese buildings. -

Another hot day here, 26c at present. Took a walk down through town with some of the family who came over to visit last night,. They also brought a meal with them, so no cooking. -
We were on Iona last year and ate about 6.30-7 pm each evening in the same restaurant and my mother too has allergies. The menu for the next day was given to her to read and decide upon, the same as the other ships.

Azura Malta to Tenerife October 2023 Review

We are about half an hour from Palermo and the temperature here has been 35c. This is exceptionally hot weather for this time of year for Sicily. Palermo has a lot of interesting places to see and visit. -

Have just spoken to my daughter, and she was saying that the temps have dropped at home to about 12c We're heading off to the beach again this afternoon as it's hot. My phone is telling me is 30c, so it is more than likely hotter than that! This is exceptional weather for this time of year in Sicily. -

We did the Flam railway trip, but we did it independently as it was cheaper than doing P&O's trip. -
Good for you! Go and have a fantastic time.

No it wasn't me. I did go up the lift, but came back down in the lift. I think the trip you are talking about was at Flam, where you can go up on the railway and can either hike or bike back down. Pam -

Spent the afternoon on the beach, although it was a bit windy it was still warm. Watched wind surfers and planes coming in to land while there. 20231013_153403.mp4 -

I have today received an email from P&O advising me I can book seats on our flight to Tenerife in January at 00.01 on 13th October, but as they are working on English time and I'm in Sicily, an hour ahead, I'll take my chances and have a look tomorrow morning. -
On our recent cruise, I went on an excursion leaving my mother in the cabin. Our steward saw me going out and before he finished he knocked to see if my mother wanted anything, and was most insistent that she was too ring room service if she was hungry before I got back. This was not expected of him and was a considerate gesture, which we thought was nice of him. I did thank him for looking in on her and said it was a pleasure. Nothing was too much trouble for him when asked, and we tip him at the end of our cruise.

At home we have a green wheelie bin for general rubbish collected weekly. Separate bags for paper and card, plastic, tins, and a box for glass which is collected fortnightly with garden waste (chargeable, in a brown wheelie bin) collected fortnightly, which alternates with the other recycling. -

Yes, it is very confusing trying to get our head around it all!
