The point of my post was that after the points system changed for both cruise lines, that the more expensive rooms accumulated points much faster on X than on RC. We first cruised on Celebrity Horizon and we had the presential suite, 1 point. then we did the next 4 cruises that were TA's in a Sky Suite. 3 points. One point for the cruise, one point for the suite, and one for the longer cruise. I would have become Elite much faster when they changed their loyalty system because the took into account your stateroom. Not to worry, we took or Elite status, got diamond, cruised a lot, and we are Pinnacle now on RCI. The point was, that after the change, it applied to ever day that you cruised, instead of just one point regardless of how long the cruise was.

Changeover Day on Back to Back Cruise
mo&fran replied to KerryJTaylor's topic in Royal Caribbean International
You can get your new seapass at GS the night before and will receive an IN TRANSIT card to facilitate reboarding. Then you can exit before the B2B group if you want. Remember, you will have to do muster again. BTW Ron Jon's surf shop is close by. A popular place to visit. -
Changeover Day on Back to Back Cruise

Customs normally uses facial recognition. You just walk up to a video screen , look at it, and it should recognize you from your passport photo, and you are on your way. You will be given instructions before, and will get your new seapass before getting off. But, you should have your passport, just in case, but also reboarding. Facial recognition gets everyone processed very quickly, no long lines. -

Oasis late in leaving Miami today 3/17/24
mo&fran replied to FloridaGram's topic in Royal Caribbean International
You ever notice that many people do not shut up and pay attention when the captain makes an announcement. Sometimes after those announcements I have the urge so exclaim loudly "Did you hear that , I wonder where we are going now". -
What essentials and fun items do you bring?
mo&fran replied to Love2cruise-71's topic in Royal Caribbean International
My carryon item I must have is a sweater. Stateroom attendants must be trained to always turn the thermostat to the coldest temperature. Too dam cold for me. I have had to call maintenance to fix the heat, it doesn't always work. -

When I was between wives, I had to learn, couldn't survive on the alternative. The only joy was having something to eat. Little story though. In those days, there was a little pizza place, where the guy made his own sauce and I loved it. So I usually drove up there about once a week for pizza and beer. The place was County Line pizza. As the name implies, it is on the county line with neighboring Martin county. The town in our county is Jupiter, in Martin is Tequesta. The pizza place had one waitress. Her husband was a Tequesta police officer. Must have been 1980 when the restaurant closed and the owner retired. During the restart we were booked on Odyssey. We got to chatting with , he probably noticed her Boston accent, and he had lived there at some point. Then he said he now living in Florida, and he is a Tequesta policemen. So , as we talked he said he had moved there in 1978. 2 years after I had moved down, I knew then he would know about county line pizza. When i mentioned the waitress, he just grinned. The waitress's husband was his boss when he first joined the force.

Lets face it, you move up a lot faster when to get the more expensive suites. That makes sense. It took us 5 long cruises all but 1 was in a suite to get the 10 cruises for elite. When they changed. we would probably made it in 3, we were mostly in a sky suite. The kicker point for a suite counts for every day. they changed the system after we came to RCI.

Using money onboard the ship (using credits)
mo&fran replied to Minuet888's topic in Royal Caribbean International
I have an RCI credit card. I charge all cruise expenses and do not carry a balance, so I pay no interest, and get points that I can use for OBC. But you can use a debit card, just put the info in when you checkin. -
Crown Lounge - Diamond Entrance During Happy Hour
mo&fran replied to Orange jeep's topic in Royal Caribbean International
From reading this thread, it seems the only erosion of benefits is the about the access to the lounges and the coffee machine in the morning. I don't drink coffee , and since we have the vouchers, we rarely go in the lounge anyway unless we need to see the concierge, access is no big deal. Since we turned Pinn about a year and a half ago, I have loved the faster boarding, breakfast in Chops, and free internet. We still get a bunch of wine and water, which we got as D+ anyway. I often do not even use up my extra free drink. -
New 3rd dining time for traditional dining
mo&fran replied to cruiseboy89130's topic in Royal Caribbean International
I like MTD, we can usually get a time to our liking, and since the restart, since I use a rollator, they have been seating us near the entrance. And we keep the same table the entire cruise. If I had traditional, I don't know if there is a way to make that fact known so they can use that information to choose a table. OR even if they would bother. Curious, we have a bunch of cruises booked on Freedom this coming October. As soon as they appeared on the website, i went to book my time, and MTD didn't start till 715, which I thought strange. We prefer 630 - 645. Now that they are talking about adding another shift , it fits in with what's happening. I did have to laugh about people showing up late and having other people seated at their assigned table. We almots had that happen to use, the early diners shows up late to their assigned table If we had just gotten there a little earlier or they were just a little later. I told the waiter that our early cruises, if your time to eat was 6:00 . and you weren't there by 615 ,you didn't eat because the doors were closed and locked. -
When I got my current TV, a 72 inch Sony, the deal was the would deliver the TV and take the old one away. As I was paying, the guy asked if my old tv was larger than 45 in, I said yes, it is 55. Out of curiosity, I asked what difference does that make. He replied that he had to send a big guy. I said, "if he can carry a 72 in, taking the 55 out shouldn't be a problem". Apparently, the TV's have become lighter, so my 55in Samsung weighed more than my new TV. BTW , Sony and Samsung , for that size were the same price.
