  1. How many dollars do you have to run through slot machine for a point? Is it the same for slots and VP?
  2. Wondering if this is the same band that was on Breakaway last December? If so they were very good. Their cover of Rumours was impressive.
  3. Thank you Benny for what has to be one of the best live trip reports ever. Perfect timing for us as we will be going on Bliss for the first time in November. Your trip report was so good that we are already planning another trip on the Bliss to Alaska next September. As mentioned in an earlier post, you went above and beyond. Thanks again for taking the time to do this.
  4. It has been over 25 years since we have been to Sitka. Following along with you, I think my wife and I are convinced that our next cruise to Alaska will include Sitka. I had forgotten how much we liked it. BTW I think you are doing an incredible job with your pictures and chronicling all that you are experiencing. You may be able to claim a page on Guinness Book of World Records for the number of pictures you have taken. You have gone above and beyond and thank you for your tireless effort you have put into this.
  5. Hope so. That would go well with whatever the best vodka still available with the standard drink package.
  6. On the ships that have already switched from pepsi products to coke products, does anyone know what they are going to for their diet lemon lime drink?
  7. Good to know. We will be on Bliss mid November. Okay either way. Diet coke vs diet pepsi. Would like to know what they are planning for their diet lemon lime option when they make the change over from coke to pepsi products. The diet sierra mist offered before make a nice mixer. Hate to see it go.
  8. Johnny Rockets on RCL has free breakfast. It did the last time I sailed with them.
  9. @BennyBrunyou are a man of your word. Thank you for all of the nice pictures. Have you noticed whether they have made the change yet on the ship from Pepsi products to Coke products?
  10. Another vote for Epic being a great ship to cruise on. Our only complaint was slow elevators. It was a Med cruise, no sea days, and extremely port intensive. Everyone was trying to get on and off the ship at the same time. So be prepared for that. The unusual cabin arrangement did not bother us at all. Get there early if you want a seat to see the Beatles tribute band at the cavern club.
  11. We did the Epic to Italy, Spain, France as well. The cruise was so port intensive we barely had time to appreciate the ship. We spent most every night at the Cavern Club. Overall it was one our best and most memorable cruises. The Joy was the only ship we have been on that had an Observation Lounge. Looking forward to spending time there on the Bliss as well. Looking at the YouTube videos, the OL on the Bliss appears bigger than the one on the Joy. Thoughts? If I recall correctly the Breakaway, Joy, and Epic all had Waterfront dining. We thought that added a lot to the overall enjoyment of the ship. We have been to Alaska a couple of times. We will enjoy following along to bring back memories from a beautiful part of the word. Mainly though, we are looking forward to your random thoughts and pictures of the Bliss itself. Happy Cruising!!!
  12. We will be sailing on the Bliss for the first time in November. Looking at deck plans and YouTube videos, the Bliss seems to combine the best features and venues of the Joy, Breakaway, and Epic, all which we have been on before. Looking forward to your live review.
  13. Thank you. I don't see the CND on the Bliss deck plans. Assuming it is somewhere also on deck 6 close to guest services?
  14. Can you book the platinum wine tasting event there as well?
  15. We are also going to be on the Bliss for the first time in November. Thanks for starting this thread. As far as music in the Manhattan room I think I read somewhere that it does not start until around 8 o'clock. @CozGurlthe Beatles tribute band that plays at the Cavern is good. You have to get there early as it fills up fast. Not sure of the start time as it may vary from ship to ship. The only District Brew House we have been to was on the Joy. We ended up spending quite a bit of time there. They usually had some decent acoustic entertainment there. In regards to the Observation Lounge, I would not be surprised if there is some entertainment there in the evening as well. The one on the Joy did. It was not crowded. Usually one of the entertainers that rotate around. BTW, @complawyer, have they started switching the Bliss from Pepsi to Coke products yet?
  16. When we did Velvet Dinner Show on Breakaway this past December we were a little disappointed. The music was good but we were expecting something comparable to the Cirque shows we had been to on other NCL sailings. The best part of the meal was the desert. Steaks were tough. The rest of the meal was so so. If he meal had of been better I think we would have enjoyed the show more.
  17. We also prefer the Mexican Riviera to the Western Caribbean. If I were you I would save the $1000. Go to the ports section and you will find there is plenty of stuff to do. Camel rides, whale watching, cliff divers, much more. The only thing I can think of that Western Caribbean has that Mexican Riviera does not is ancient ruins. There is a lot more of that on the Eastern side of Mexico.
  18. Birds, noticed the Rumours album tribute is tonight at Syd Normans. If you like that type of music and have not already did it before it is definitely worth going to. I guess the same band is still performing that was there this past November.
  19. There are reasons NCL has evolved their dress codes to where they are now. You are fighting a losing battle if you hope they will go back to formal or semi formal attire for dining. With NCL's dress code if you wish to show up to dinner in suit and tie you can. If me and my wife want to show up in casual attire we can. If having everyone on board dress formally is that important to you and you are willing to pay for it I am sure there are options that exist or cruises that are available. BTW I am in my mid 60's. I have been fortunate enough to have traveled all over the world and eaten at some of its finest restaurants. You probably won't see me in one of the specialty restaurants or one of the MDR's in a baseball cap and flip flops. I am an avid reader of cruise critic. I really think they offer the best resource to keep up to date with all issues relating to the cruise industry.
  20. Sorry but I am not lugging more luggage than I have to, through the airport, across country. I have a closet full of linen slacks, dress shirts, blazers, dress leather shoes, and ties but I am not bringing them on a cruise.
  21. Thank you for posting this. We are going to be on the Bliss in November. Reluctantly, I will pack a pair of long pants for eating in the Manhattan Room. Our specialty dinners will not be affected as we will be dining at Cagney's, Teppanyakis, and Los Lobos. Nothing against long pants but they take up valuable packing space. This entire thread is full of entertaining but unfortunately conflicting information throughout. I wish it was possible to go to NCL's website and find an up to date dress code depending of course on which ship you will be on.
  22. Were you high enough on the list to make the cut and attend? If so, how was it?
  23. Thank you. We are on the Bliss in November. With the number of platinum latitude members on each cruise and limiting it to 20 spots its sure to be interesting trying to get a spot. I am assuming it is on a sea day. About what time was it scheduled?
  24. What was the procedure for platinum latitude members to participate? Did you get letter in cabin with instructions to participate?
