  1. Complaining about winning and using a free cruise. LMAO. First World problem for sure.
  2. I would ditch the Club balcony and opt for a mid ship balcony and use BWI as an airport and fly Southwest round trip
  3. I stand corrected njhorseman. I looked at the screenshot the OP provided of the Pearl's voyage which does enter the Canal, albeit a partial transit.
  4. Passport is required. Your itinerary will take you through the Gatun locks and into Lake Gatun as well as a port of call in Colon. Either way you look at it it is a Canal cruise
  5. Little known fact about walkie talkies. When on a steel ship and reception starts to fail, YELL INTO THE MICROPHONE. It will help dramatically.
  6. LOL. I know people like you who will believe everything they read on the internet. You have 10 cruises under your belt so you should "be in the know" so to speak. Every ship you've been on had a capacity exceeding 3000pax and up to 6000 pax. Was that a concern for you then?
  7. This is incorrect. Your DSC will not increase. Refer to the T&Cs of the upgrade bid program to further answer the question. The only thing, with 1 exception, that will change is the room. The 1 exception is if booked in a spa suite, the passenger will lose the access portion to the spa.
  8. Just off the Joy. Gold and above were directed to go to the Q restaurant where your latitude status was verified and then an NCL employee escorted us directly to a tender, bypassing the queue via a different hallway. WorkEd well and there zero arguments about joining an already formed queue
  9. Haven't seen a good "Do I need a passport" thread in awhile either
  10. If one is flying domestically, a passport is not required. Middle name is not, and never has been, an airline or TSA issue
  11. Not sure why this is a hot topic lately. It does not matter if your middle name is not on your reservation. You must have your full, legal 1st and last on your reservation and that is what is put on the manifest. If your name is Robert, don't reserve your ticket as Bob.
  12. Clarence posted a video on an NCL site the other day saying he was flying to Italy to join the Prima crew.
  13. It’s called a downline disembarkation. It can be done, in the past, if the country your friend disembarks to allows it. Covid protocols have mucked up many of travel plans and what was once commonplace is no longer allowed. RCI suspended this practice on all ships a couple of years ago. If NCL allows this and a fee is involved from the pending country, you can bet that fee will be passed down to your friend. You won't get a definitive answer on this forum. Call NCL for guidance. Can you post the progress/answer for your friend back on this forum?
  14. You will need to bring an inexpensive universal remote and program it to the cabin TV so you can change the input to recognize new device(s).
  15. Has the Epic been retrofitted with fuel oil scrubbers? If not, this could be the reason for the temporary closure of those facilities. The scrubbers are installed to the rear of the stacks and the sports deck and the Posh and would be in that construction bullseye.
  16. You can purchase an assortment of Cuban cigars at the habanacuba cigar shop in San Juan. Quite a distance from the cruise port and you must taxi. They do have a website.
  17. Previously booked a 9-day on the Viva out of SJ in Dec 23. Tried doing a mock booking for price comparison and low and behold, I wasn't able to complete a booking. The website would not allow a cabin selection for any type of stateroom. Before you comment, I attempted this on my desktop, laptop and tablet, all with the same results. I thought maybe just a problem with the date and tried to complete 3 more bookings on the Viva on different dates with the same result. I'm the kind of guy who likes to research every aspect of a particular cruise prior to calling an agent and not being able to is frustrating. I tried this same drill with the Prima and wouldn't you know, same results. I resorted to using the chat feature from the website and while waiting in the queue, I tried to look at the official deck plans for both ships on the website and found both have been removed. They had both previously been published under the "explore our ships" drop down but no longer. When my chat session became active, I asked the agent if there was a problem with the delivery of these 2 ships and was told no. I asked if there was a problem with the website's inability to complete a booking and was told no. The agent told me that she was able to see everything on her screen and asked me what I was looking to do. So I asked her to check on the availability of a midship balcony on deck 10 for the Viva's 9 day cruise from SJ in Dec 2023. She told me there were several cabins available and to provide my phone number for a callback to finalize. I asked what cabin numbers were available with the price and she said she couldn't discuss cabins or pricing on Chat. Why is it that NCL is preventing clients from researching and booking their cruises for these 2 ships and forcing you to resort to a call back to make a reservation? And, mind you, the reservation can be made but you can't see your cabin on a deck plan. I realize 3rd party websites have both Prima and Viva deck plans, but these are unofficial. NCL will take your reservation, accept a payment on your reservation but won't allow you to take control over your own selection process for these 2 ships at the moment. Prima's inaugural cruise has already been cancelled and I think it is more than the "supply chain issue" statement we all saw and what it is remains to be seen. NCL has been holding many thousands of my dollars for a couple of years now. With all the cancellations, one of which was 4 days before sail date, and rebooking, using FCC and refunds, I have 3 fully paid for cruises but I have yet to make any payments on my Viva booking other than the deposit. I think I will hold on to my cash for awhile and see how this plays out.
