  1. We have the opportunity to upgrade our group booking of 10 cabins from inside to Obstructed Oceanview cabins for only $50/person more for the 7 nights, for midship location on Deck 8, right above the shops on Deck 7. Worth it? Still a good deal, to get some sunshine, even though it's obstructed oceanview? BTW, regular oceanviews are even $400 more pp, almost as much as balcony...
  2. Just made 6 reservations right before midnight last night...
  3. What's the price/cost for Daily & Weekly pass...? Per person, or both in cabin must purchase? Thanks,
  4. We have friends who flew out to Greece for a cruise last year. After arriving Greece, 4 out of 20 tested positive, thus 16 went on the cruise, the 4 stay at Greece hotel for 10 days. So for our cruise out of Vancouver 2 weeks ago, had all 30 of us take the free non-proctored test at home first, to make sure we're all Negative before flying out, then did the proctored test in Vancouver 2 days before embarkation. Fortunately, everyone was Negative. However, it caused alot of stress for most of us. Hopefully, all of this testing goes away for our Sept HAL sailing...

RCCL soon too...?
  6. We're Vikings!!! We don't need no stinkin' test to go cruisin', raidin', & plunderin'...!!!!
  7. Since this will be our first cruise to Alaska, after 35+ Carrib & Med cruises, looking forward to great NW / Pacific seafood. Are we assuming too much that cruise lines will use local vendors to feature great northern Pacific seafood onboard, much different than the normal seafood we normally get on Carrib cruises? If not, suggest that we spend extra $$$ & try some of the locally sourced seafood in the Alaskan port towns...? Thanks,
  8. Roundtrip out of Vancouver. Everyone in group of 40 was stressing out about how to do the day before (Sat) debarkation day (Sun) video proctored testing, sea day, inside passage, with weak wifi ship signal. Now no worries... We can throw away all the many stupid backup plans how to get back to the US from Vancouver...
  9. Awesome News!!! Perfect timing for Alaska cruise next wkend out of Vancouver...!!!
  10. Awesome News!!! Perfect timing our cruise next week out of Vancouver...!!!
  11. Great post. Great info so far. A few more questions: So how was embarkation at Vancouver port/Canada place? Quick & efficient if we have all our docs ready? How's basic wifi onboard? Good enough for video/audio for proctored covid test, or need the higher wifi pkg? Any indication RCCL or ship Captain may require masks indoors/ onboard soon? Since our group will be onboard in 10 days... Thanks,
  12. Our cruise ship's "ALASKA RAPTOR CENTER AND NATURE WALK" excursion in Sitka cost $60. For our group of 40, 15 is doing another ship's excursion, but for the rest of 25 younger adults, all in good shape & don't mind doing a nice leisurely walking tour of Sitka. Thinking of taking the ship's 5 mile bus transport into Sitka town. Can someone pls confirm cost, & where they drop you off in town? Then taking a self guided walking tour from town, visiting sites such as: St Michael's Orthodox Catheral, through town/marina, to Sitka National Historical Park & Tlingit Totem Pole, to Alaska Raptor Center (cost?), then back to Russian Bishop's House in town. A 3 mile / 1 hour loop, which probably hits most of the ship's tour stops also. https://www.google.com/maps/dir/St.+Michael's+Orthodox+Cathedral/Tlingit+Totem+Pole,+Sitka,+AK+99835/Alaska+Raptor+Rehabilitation+Center,+Raptor+Way,+Sitka,+AK/Russian+Bishop's+House/@57.0501355,-135.3299608,1557m/data=!3m1!1e3!4m26!4m25!1m5!1m1!1s0x540467bcb2f1fa93:0x628436b3112f734a!2m2!1d-135.3352778!2d57.05!1m5!1m1!1s0x540467915bd112b9:0xafe59de1e7a675f8!2m2!1d-135.3128006!2d57.0461244!1m5!1m1!1s0x5404662ceefe9fc9:0x207687e2fc86b395!2m2!1d-135.3160504!2d57.052333!1m5!1m1!1s0x540467be05d98113:0x9206089612866a72!2m2!1d-135.3309777!2d57.0514467!3e2 Since we have 8 hours in Sitka port, good idea? Any other suggs...? Thanks,
  13. Since we're flying from Vancouver, Canada back to Texas USA, it's an International flight, thus we need to take covid test the day before our flight back...
  14. For our upcoming cruise next week to Alaska, flying into Vancouver, & back to US. Besides cold/wet weather clothing, Thinking of packing extra: - Masks. Just in case RCCL makes them mandatory. Or will cruise line provides them? - Test kits. Just in case we test positive, then having to re-test daily during quarantine. - Cold/Flu medicine. So prudent to pack extras of above? Any other suggs? Or are we too paranoid...?
  15. Just found out that some Princess & HAL ships going to Alaska now require masks indoors. Any news if RCCL ships require them now, esp those going to Alaska...? Thanks,
  16. Since we're flying into Vancouver 3 days early, we're taking the free iHealth non-proctored test from USPS one day before flying to Vancouver. Then another test 2 days before boarding ship, while in Vancouver, using the same free iHealth test, but proctored with rapidtestandtrace.com, $20.
  17. Wanna really surprise them? Give 'em luggage tags that says: Ship: USS Nimitz (CVN 68) Port: Bahrain, Persian Gulf...
  18. We fly from the US to Vancouver on the 16th, staying 3 nights before boarding cruise ship on the 19th. We complete the ArriveCAN app on the 13th, 3 days before entering Canada, correct? So why do we have to do another ArriveCAN before boarding ship, between the 16th - 19th since we have been / arrived in Canada already?
  19. Thanks for the detailed review. Looking forward to sailing her & hopefully the service issues will be improved by Sept...
  20. Can you just show up for shows / events, or do you need to make show reservations on app like on the bigger/biggest ships...?
  21. OP, We're doing the exact same thing for our upcoming Vancouver/Alaska cruise in 2 weeks. We've just did the same proctored test thru rapidtestandtrace & using the free iHealth test kits from USPS in Amsterdam 3 days ago to fly back to the US. Worked perfectly. Like it better than the Emed. So ordered 4 more proctored tests thru them again, $20 each...
  22. Stupid Question #1: What is wifi...? Stupid Question #2: Does airplane mode work on cruise ships...?
