  1. Luckily carnival doesn't have a very big business travel cohort.
  2. https://help.carnival.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/4529/~/back-to-back-cruises
  3. Every time I've gotten OBC from a TA it doesn't show until I'm on board. Only obc from carnival is available before boarding generally.
  4. Most of Carnival Cruise Line's profitability is in onboard spend. So the most profitable itinerary for CCL would be a cruise with lots of proprietary ports so they capture most of the spend. Royal has Quantum class ships in Alaska.
  5. Remember that Weinstein is CEO of the entire company - Carnival Corp. Not just Carnival Cruise Line.
  6. We all have to do what we're comfortable with. I wouldn't expect Carnival to react other than to perhaps make these insect repellent advisories a little more visible. The cruise director will probably emphasize the need for insect repellant in the fun ashore talk. Things like that. I am sure that folks who've been to San Juan many times will be more likely to just stay onboard. Me, I'd just wear some bug spray because I've only been there twice.
  7. They've had recommendations to wear bug spray (I believe specifically spelling out to wear DEET) in the FunTimes for as long as I can remember.
  8. Obviously #1 the ship has to have a normal on time arrival to MIA. They usually do but things happen. Assuming passport for quick processing through customs, self-assist debarkation and taxi to MIA I would say it's doable. Even better if you're platinum/diamond or FTTF and can be some of the first folks off the ship.
  9. Plus TSA lines, plus baggage claim, etc., not sure it's that much faster than driving...
  10. People on here are just upset that their silver or white card aren't as exclusive as they used to be. Nothing about the program is unsustainable. If it was Carnival would have nixed (or changed) it long ago.
  11. everyone is a big tipper on the internet...
  12. It's just the clientele - geriatrics and in particular geriatric gamblers tend to smoke whereas most other demographics have given up the habit over the years. Although it seems like nearly every gen z these days has a vape glued to their hand, which breaks my heart as a reformed nic addict.
  13. And perhaps Carnival is in the wrong here for establishing a pattern of behavior where they compensate guests for things they have nothing to do with, like the weather. They are apparently not compensating guests for this bridge collapse and folks are upset because a tornado didn't take the bridge down instead I suppose.
  14. Missed ports of call isn't really the same thing as a changed home port with no further alterations to the cruise.
  15. I don't think it's big enough for a lounger. A sit-up chair or two, yes. But only a few balconies in the fleet are big enough for loungers.
  16. I simply cannot fathom the grief in losing someone this way. How sudden and unexpected.
  17. The balconies aft balconies are a little deeper than the ones on the sides of the ship. So you have a little more room to maneuver.
  18. Oh I know, I sailed from Charleston over a dozen times over the years. I mean with Charleston gone - Norfolk doesn't quite fill that void. The new builds allows Carnival to put Conquest or Dream class ships in other home ports around the country. Surely they can find a home port between Norfolk and Jacksonville that would welcome the tourism.
  19. You should read your ticket contract. It's all there in black and white. https://www.carnival.com/about-carnival/legal-notice/ticket-contract Relevant portion: "Carnival shall have no liability for any compensation or other damages in such circumstances for any change in itinerary, ports of call, ports of embarkation and debarkation, and/or duration of the cruise"
  20. There is a big gaping hole in Carnival's homeport strategy that Norfolk didn't quite fill. I hope they've got plans for something along that huge stretch of the Atlantic between Norfolk VA and Jacksonville FL. Surely there is a port city somewhere along the stretch that would enjoy 3,000 tourists a week year-round?
  21. They have no obligation to do any of that for future cruises. For the current cruise, yes, they have an obligation to get those cruisers back to the port of embarkation safely.
  22. typically the second night of the cruise.
