  1. Exactly our experience…almost trance-like. By far the best show I’ve seen at sea. We sat on the lower level on the left side of aisle about 20 rows from stage.
  2. @CruiseMrB thanks for the review! It's really nice to see that others have enjoyed her as much as we did back in November. I have to agree, Ascent is pretty magical! Looking forward to cruising on her again in the future.
  3. Can't wait to read your take on the Awaken theater show!
  4. OP was just giving anyone who didn't want to read the whole thing an out by saying his cruise was amazing.
  5. Too Long, Didn't Read...I know this because one of my former college students in the Education program no less, wrote it at the top of his paper as an indication that he didn't read the assigned article...apparently, the one I assigned was TL and therefore, he DR...🙄 Thank goodness I've retired...
  6. You could always give them a call..not sure if it will work, but can't hurt.
  7. I was given a different carrier confirmation number for each leg of our trip...one from Celebrity and 2 from the airline.
  8. I don't think @Ferry_Watcher used the dining package to book Eden...at least that's how I read it.
  9. Our FBC reservations show in our cruise planner for both going and returning. Did you get a confirmation email when you booked? If so, you should be able to take that confirmation and plug it directly into the airline's website....at least that's what I did, and it worked. This is what our confirmation looked like with the flight confirmations blacked out.
  10. We dropped our bags off at the room and then went to Raw on 5 for lunch. We shared a partial seafood tower and some sushi. I prefer to be waited on in a restaurant over the hustle and bustle of the OVC.
  11. Excellent information! Thank you...I'm on it! I think DT is more our vibe. Will look into the options posted by @Ferry_Watcher as well.
  12. Such a timely post. We have a late flight after our Alaska cruise. Is this available on all cruises? Where did you see this in the planner?
  13. Excellent point! Maybe we will bring a bottle of Caymus each to enjoy on the balcony. It beats $35 a glass! DH always turns his nose up when I suggest it because he says it's a pain to travel with wine.
  14. I have a mostly favorable opinion of Celebrity. There are some changes that have been implemented over the last year that I don't really care for...but I still check Celebrity first when I'm planning a cruise. We only have one Celebrity cruise booked for 2024 but I'm always looking for other possibilities. All that to say, I've never had a bad cruise on Celebrity.
  15. It wasn't my logic, I just musing about what might motivate others...I personally never board with wine bc we always have a drinks package. But I can see a point in the future where I might want to bring wine back from a port stop. I have no problem turning it over to be held until the end of the cruise. I stand firmly behind my comment about the increase in wine prices by the glass, though. I think such increases will prompt some to do whatever it takes to save a few bucks here and there...hopefully not to the extent of the scenario you posed.
  16. We don't have anything booked yet. Not sure if we should stay DT or closer to the cruise port. I'm a fish out of water on this cruise. 🙃
  17. Actually, until recently I've been a little blasé about an Alaska cruise bc I'm more of a warm weather cruiser...but I am really pumped now that I've had a chance to see the excursions and glimpses of the scenery from photos and videos. I think you're right...we are going to love it! Still 138 days to go but I am getting very excited.
  18. We arrive in Seattle at 9:30 AM the day before so we are looking forward to spending the day bumming around and checking out sights. Do you have any personal favorites?
  19. Do people still dress up for dinner or are nice jeans and a sweater OK?
  20. @Northern Aurora thank you for the information! I appreciate your local perspective very much. I'm going to assume the casino remains closed along with the shops. We aren't taking this cruise to gamble anyway...though I'm sure I'll take a spin or two along the way. Regarding your point about leaving from Seattle, I have to agree. We looked at other itins and other cruise lines as well but when this cruise came up in a flash sale last year, the price was too good to pass up. This will be our first Alaska cruise but I'm guessing it won't be our last. There's simply too much to see and do in a single trip. We found it especially difficult to decide on excursions for this very reason. We have settled on the White pass train/biking tour in Skagway, and a helicopter glacier visit with dog sledding in Juneau. We have a kayak excursion planned in Ketchikan along with a self-guided pub crawl. I'm following the Alaska board pretty closely for ideas as well. There's just so much we don't know!
  21. We are embarking on our first Alaska cruise on the Edge at the end of May. I have a few questions: 1. Is the dress code more relaxed on Alaska itins or should we plan on packing dressier clothing for evening. 2. Is there a chic night? 3. Will Celebrity offer food choices representative of our ports of call, like salmon in Ketchikan, for example… or will it be the usual menus? Last question…some ports, like Juneau are late departure ports. Does that mean shops and casino remains closed or do they open at some point in the evening?
  22. We tip the drink servers in the casino consistently. Any other tipping for drinks is random. We have no hard and fast rule about tipping but we bring extra cash just in case.
  23. Our pre-maiden voyage roll call was pretty active but you’re not the first one to comment on the quiet nature of the roll calls. I’m not sure they ever got back to pre-Covid height. on our last celebrity cruise before Covid (Nov. 2019) we did a cabin crawl, slot pull, and a hometown gift give away at the meet and greet held in the wine bar. Well over 100 people attended. I took peach jam and Georgia pecans as my gift and came away with a Washington Redskins (before team name change) hoodie…which I still wear on cold days. It was a lot of fun! This was on Silhouette.
  24. Allure was our last RC cruise all the way back in 2015. Not because it was a bad cruise…it was great. A Barcelona embarkation and my first Med experience. It was the biggest ship we’d ever sailed but the weird thing is that I remember very little about the ship itself. I know we had a jr. Suite and we ate at one of the restaurants (French or Italian) in Central Park. I think the reason the ship is such a blur is because we weren’t on it much being a very port intensive itinerary. I’d book it again if we had young kids who would enjoy all the activities but for now, we are just fine with the peace, quiet and smaller X ships.
