  1. Then they shouldn't make it so difficult. If I'm willing to pay the double occupancy I shouldn't be penalized for 1 NO SHOW. Would they rather that cabin go vacant with $0 revenue?
  2. I am beginning to think MSC isn't the cruise line for me than. Not sure I like the "solo traveler discrimination" vibe I am getting and I haven't even booked yet.
  3. But if I am willing to pay the double occupancy rate why should it matter? I will just cancel the 2nd person off my booking, I know I'm not getting a refund for them (only port fees) I just want to make sure I can book for 2 and cancel 1 without getting into trouble.
  4. I tried to call yesterday and was told "there are no rooms available for 1 person". I tried to explain there are rooms for 2 people though, they are the same rooms, can you book me in one of those just don't add the 2nd person, I was told no.
  5. New to MSC and already having issues with trying to book a cruise for just me. I am not getting any available cabins for just ONE person, but get a lot of cabin options for 2 people. BEFORE you say, because there are no solo cabins available....yesterday morning I did a mock booking for ONE PERSON for an inside cabin and let them pick my room. I also did a mock booking for TWO people, inside cabin (just to compare the prices) and let them pick my room....it was the same cabin. So it didn't matter if I picked ONE or TWO people it was the same cabin. TODAY, I can book the cruise for TWO people, inside cabin and it's less than if I had booked yesterday for ONE or TWO people. QUESTION: If I book for 2 people, when can I cancel that 2nd (ghost person) off my booking? I know I will only be refunded the port fees for that person. QUESTION: When I cancel that 2nd person off my booking, are they going to try to apply a penalty to my booking for me now being a solo traveler?
  6. I am considering cruising alone since all my cruising mates are either no longer interested in cruising or don't want me cruising with them because they are heavy drinkers and only want to cruise where drink packages are included (NCL or MSC) because they don't want me to be forced to buy a 7 day drink package, which I wouldn't anyway at these prices. I am considering just doing my own cruises, 50 something year old female, do I really need to worry about my safety? I've been on enough cruises to know the safety tips. Also, I am seeing where solo cruisers are actually paying for the same room that 2 people are getting. I priced a cruise on Royal for 1 person (not a Studio cabin either) just in interior cabin and it was $300 more than if I selected 2 people for the same room. Can I book the cruise for 2 people so that I can get the cheaper rate, and then call after I pay my cruise in full and say passenger #2 isn't coming, remove them from my booking? I don't think I should have to pay $300 more for being 1 person, especially since I'm not eating as much as a 2 person booking. Make no sense. Anyway thoughts on solo cruising, I only cruise Royal, Carnival, NCL.....
  7. We have 3 in one of our reservations and we booked online. Just booked for 4 because that was the only option for our party size. Just book for 2. They are going to sit you at a table for 2 anyway, just like they are going to sit us at a table for 4 when there are only 3.
  8. A few of us that have recently cruised have been questioning the alcohol in the bottles on whether or not they are adding water to them to dilute them. Sounds ridiculous I know. I am not a liquor drinker and when I have a beverage or two with a 1-2 shot max in a drink I can max out on that after 3 drinks. On a cruise ship, I can drink the same mixed drink all day one after the other and feel nothing. So, just an observation from the last two cruises I have been on since September. And the one my sister and her husband went on in November. AND HE IS A CROWN AND COKE DRINKER!!! He said the same thing when he came off that cruise. They switched to beer a day into the cruise.
  9. I have always been under the impression, and cards that have technology in them shouldn't be near or touching your cell phone. Probably some old internet wives tale.
  10. Can't tell you how many times on my recent cruise I left my seapass card in the slot machine. They should all be pre-punched so we don't have to ask or wait in/and clog up the guest services line.
  11. Just got the email Testing Effective November 2, 2022, all travelers on U.S. sailings — regardless of vaccination status — will no longer require pre-departure testing (excludes sailings to Colombia, Haiti, & Honduras).
  12. Do you pay BEFORE you park or after? Is there an attendant to pay or is it machine only? Is is credit card only or is cash accepted? Sorry, we are leaving out of PE in November and it's been so long since I've cruised out of there, I'm sure it's changed since 2015.
  13. So quick question.....I've read so many terrible stories about off site cruise parking lots where the cars get broken into and jamming the cars into the lots where there is so little room for the attendant to get out the car and dings up doors getting in and out. HOW IS THIS LOT when it comes to those issues? Not that these things can't happen at the port itself, but I always felt my car was "safer" at the post because of the "security" they have just to get in.
  14. But AliExpress can take up to 2 months to get. I have ordered PLENTY from there and shipping times can range from 3 weeks to 2 months, could be even longer in the current world problems. Amazon is much quicker. But I guess if you have a few months before your cruise you can go with Ali, but don't take their "expected delivery date" as concrete.
  15. True.. I can log into Club Royale and see all my offers so that's a good thing.
  16. From 10:08am via FB Messenger: Our IT team is currently working on this issue and should have it resolved soon. Please try again later today. -Gwen
  17. Wow, hope they didn't get hacked. Terrible time to be having website, booking, check in issues with lots of people looking to get back to cruising.

  19. App still not working for me, just keeps taking me back to the sign on info
  20. How do you pronounce that, as to not sound like an idiot to the cab driver? NAW CHEE COKE UM ???
  21. I can't even log in, desktop or the app. Just keeps bringing me back to the sign on page. I thought I forgot my password and tried to reset it, it won't even let me do that.
  22. Just got back from our cruise, Port of Tampa. I used the free test we got from the post office. Downloaded the app that is listed on the box, iHealth. Walks you thru the steps. Answer a few questions within the app. Emails you the result with your name and date. I printed it out and also had it on my phone to show. I also wrote my name and the date I took it on a piece of paper, placed the negative test on the paper and took a photo. Brought the piece of paper & the negative test (kept it in a plastic baggie) showed everything to out check in agent. All was easy peasy.
  23. Ooooh I had heard about those air tags, gotta get me some. Do you just slip/clip them inside your luggage?
  24. This is the real one. https://cozumelbarhop.com/ Just a nice time away from the ship and all the people chasing you around wanting you to purchase something.
  25. So is anyone using VeriFly like they are suggesting? Just got an email to download the app, but I thought mostly the vaxed people were using that app.
