We really liked where we lived in Texas but moved to Florida to be closer to my son. We moved just before/during the pandemic. Super happy here it is all that and a bag of chips for us. It sounds like you have found the place that is just right for you too.

Well the Monkeypox scare sure died out quickly once people found out how most people were catching it.

You are not stuck at home again. We have been taking wonderful, fun land based vacations. No masks, no tests and no threat of quarantine in a room you don't want to be in. Until these protocols go away cruising is just not an attractive vacation option for me.

Why cabin change if positive?
Keksie replied to jerseygirl3's topic in Royal Caribbean International
Because if they make it miserable enough (lesser cabin, iffy room service, nothing to do) then people will not self-report. Less people in quarantine to take care of and less official covid numbers that way. -
There are a lot of reasons to live in Florida. We don't live that close to a cruise port but close enough if we decide to cruise again. We enjoy being 45 minutes from a beautiful beach, low taxes, small town, and the last 2+ years the freedom to make our own decisions.

Probably 20 years ago I did that. I picked the Big Island to explore all the way around. It was a lot of fun. Stayed in Kona first and explored north, did a flume ride, swam with turtles, went to a luau. Headed south, saw a lot of scenery and stayed at the volcano (not sure if that is possible now). We took a helicopter ride, explored all the park, bought a sweatshirt since I was freezing. Then we drove to Hilo where we explored the gardens and took a horseback ride. The only thing we didn't do was drive through the center of the island since the rental car company would not have been pleased if they found out.

I have not had covid yet either. When I had to wear a mask I wore a very comfortable single ply, jersey fabric mask. Now it is still stuffed in the bottom of purse just in case. So far I have not had to drag it out for over a year.

****CARNIVAL CRUISERS: HOW ARE THINGS WHERE YOU LIVE???
Keksie replied to Host Carolyn's topic in Carnival Cruise Lines
Haven't worn a mask in over a year except for one business. Have been eating out since May 2020. Restaurants are busy and are finally getting enough help with only an occasional employee wearing a mask. Went on a fun vacation to Tennessee earlier this year with no masks needed. Some of my friends have had covid recently but none had anything more then congestion and a cough.
