We had a very similar cabin on the Zuiderdam and loved it, lots of shade as well. If I am on an itinerary that I have concerns with the sea I also book midship, but my heart is aft! Unless the seas are really tough you’ll be fine, always pack some meclizine!

It has been very nice to have a huge agency go to bat for us on a couple of occasions. If I had booked directly I would have had nowhere near the clout. Not to mention the rebates. -

Ooh! I’m drooling over those scones. Gotta love the wonderful British soups and scones. Interesting in Yorkshire, the cream is in the middle! No debating the Cornwall vs Devon issues🤷♀️😉 Glad you’re taking up the fish and chip challenge 😂 Happy and safe travels! -

Oh what a wonderful adventure! Gotta love the dream liners! And washrooms you can turn around in. Only surpassed by the ones in the belly of an A 340. 🤷♀️(and with your Canadian roots I shouldn’t need to translate) I love hearing how you got to Yorkshire, it’s on our list again! And ooh mushy peas. So my candidate for best fish and chips is the f street station pub in Anchorage for halibut and chips, if you choose to take the challenge! enjoy! Love last minute cruises! -

Welcome home @marshhawk sorry you were ill, but glad you still enjoyed the cruise! @dfish good luck tomorrow, I hope it’s a reasonable time, mine was 05:49am! That puts a different spin for sure, you have the luxury of choice. I also spent nine days in Anchorage and so enjoyed that city, I also find Europe not too bad going if I can get a few hours of sleep, so much to explore there. im sure you’ll enjoy what ever you choose. I never tire of Europe! I also highly recommend Japan if you haven’t tried that. You could choose to go eastbound via Europe. Would be lovely to meet you onboard one day!

Late to the blog, but thanks for your wonderful descriptions. I’m touched you had your special song! I am so glad you are enjoying the cruise! @RuthC go for it, Maybe there’s some better flights if you stay a day after? I love the true inside passage inside Vancouver island, I think it holds its own with Norway, IMO you need to do both, they are both so lovely.

The west jet strike has been averted. When we cruise up to Anchorage we were shocked that it was about a 3 and one half hour flight to Seattle. It is a long way up there, that you don’t realize by ship. We agree it is well worth it!

Love it! I learned ages ago in the time of lire when we stayed near Chianciano Terme, the Ch was Kay sound and the Ci Ch, lol. I always think Chianti is a good reminder as most people pronounce it correctly but the S in bruschetta throws them off. But very few Italian restaurants here pronounce it correctly. Ciccheti is another fun one and of course Civitavecchia. Now then the next battle for me was Pitigliano with the silent g. And Aglianico😉🤷♀️

Good day and thanks all! Love museums, from a smaller jewel in Lisbon, the magnificent Hermitage seeing the treasury on our second visit, and the delightful Musee de Cluny and Marmottan in Paris. NYC is one of our favourite places. Great museums, the Met, the amazing Frick, the MOMA where DS had some of his work displayed. We have seen Julia Roberts and Helen Mirren on Broadway, DH worked in NYC with the NYPD after 911. Celebrated st Patrick’s day at the parade, lunch where Harry met Sally. We left our heart there.- 78 replies

For those interested here are the CBC maps of the current fires, and how far the smoke has drifted. Although we are many hundreds of miles from most of the fires we are still severely affected. For size comparison, Alberta is a big province, five times bigger than England.- 81 replies

@cruisemom42 has mentioned one of the lines where I liked the itinerary. I go and look at ports listed on one of the big online agencies. It’s hard to get more than one or two new ones. Patmos is high on my list, but some cruises only spend a short time on that island. It is intriguing to me to try to visit the more unusual places that can be difficult to get to. We’ve spent many months in the Greek islands and love that area but it would take more than a lifetime to see it all.

SeaTac is the Seattle Tacoma airport. IMO There is no need to fly to Seattle for a Vancouver cruise
