  1. Unfortunate as this is, I'm staggered that legal action is even considered but that seems the way in these parts of the world. Just an accident in my book. At the end of the day, someone has to pay for any legal claims, usually the consumers. World has gone mad.
  2. I'm surprised as well. If @MissP22 doesn't understand it who is an experienced cruiser, it just shows how confusing the whole thing is.
  3. I think you are correct. We have no option in Australia but to collect the medallions at the port, however I can't figure why the App shows us as fully checked in, yet the Personalizer shows incomplete. I'm sure it's to do with the Medallions but I've done the bit where I order the lanyard etc. Others have said what they think of Princess IT Department and I can only agree. In the whole scheme of things no big deal.
  4. Yep, they are both back. I never usually log out of the App on my phone but did earlier today and that didn't work, however logging out and signing back in now and they are back. For those of us who have some experience with Princess we know not to let such glitches concern us but for newbies it doesn't instill any confidence. I still have the situation where the App shows me as fully checked in, yet the personalizer says my check in is incomplete but gives no indication of what is not completed. Only Princess!
  5. Yep, both of my upcoming cruises have disappeared, they were there yesterday. Fortunately they are still listed if I access my account via the web. I haven't tried to link the bookings to put them back as people have suggested not doing that in the past. I came on here to see if others were having the same problem and as that is the case I'll just wait for Princess to get their IT in order, again. Our next cruise isn't until Feb so no rush for us (plus everything is accessible via the Net if I need it).
  6. Hi. In your Personalizer on the "Summary" tab page on the left hand side you'll see some wording that says Download the Medallion Class App and you'll see tabs for the App Store or Google Play. Just under there is some some wording "Don't have a compatible device? and in blue text "try our web version". Click on the blue wording and away you go.
  7. Yes. Go to the App and your voyage should appear. Scroll down to ocean Now and select Dine My Way. It will open a page "Personalize Your Dining Experience" - select "view or Book individual daily reservations" and at the top of the next page has a tab for each day of your cruise. Open these to see what you have booked for that day. There may be somewhere that lists all of your bookings without having to check each day but I haven't found it. Hope this helps.
  8. Moreso referring to the wait times and the fact that in the past they seemed to have many more tables available for walk ups. It seems some ships do it better than others.
  9. Yep I was. However the cost has gone up from $29 to $47 in about 18 months, and that's a hike no matter what currency it is.
  10. And the dining room staff. Some appear clueless how to work the newer system. I don't like it but if we just have to wait in a bar, no massive problem. Not one that is going to wreck my holiday anyway.
  11. Most times. The staff usually crowd around the computer screen looking flustered and send you on your way with a pager. Obviously they want people to book but we like flexibility and don't want a fixed time, for most things when we're on holidays.
  12. He was referring to a comment that I made, which I clarified above. However my experience on the last few cruises we've been on is that just turning up now to a dining room without a booking is a much more difficult process. Usually get sent away with a pager despite there being heaps of empty tables just sitting there. Anyway, this topic has been done to death and it isn't going to change.
  13. Oh you can but it's nothing like a smooth process that it once was.
  14. I just booked Sabatini's last week for a cruise in Feb and it cost $47 per person. My last cruise 12 months ago it was $35 pp. I think the cost is starting to get beyond the value point.
  15. I don't mind the Medallion and the App - could take it or leave it. However I agree completely about the dining, even though that has nothing to do with the Medallion introduction. The dining changes are the result of some clown at Princess who had a bright idea. Like you, I don't want to decide in advance when I want to eat. I know that technically you don't have to book anything and can just turn up (remember anytime dining) but the last cruise I did that and the person at the reception desk in the dining room looks at you like you are the great unwashed when you tell them you haven't got a booking. They send on your way with a pager while you look over their shoulder at the massive number of unoccupied tables. More fool Princess - I just take my pager to the nearest bar, get another of my 15 allowed drinks and quaff away until my pager activates. I wouldn't have these pre dinner drinks if I went straight to a table so it costs them. Oh well.
  16. we were very disappointed in Bistro Sur La Mer and would take Sabatini's every time in future. The main courses we had were very bland and watery (the veal dish if I remember correctly). On the positive, the deserts were superb.
  17. If you have any problems on board it is easy to see the IT Manager/staff who can sort out any issues. Unlike foreign based Call Centres, staff on the ship can't hide behind misinformation.
  18. Crown Grill for me. Tried them all but the Grill is my favourite.
  19. So do I and when they go and get it I look where they stash on their trolleys, and raid it later. Never had a problem getting it when I have asked. The few dollars in tips assists I am sure.
  20. Cheers, thanks. Great to know and I assume my carrier would be similar but I'll check. On occasions, not always, I've tried to make a wifi call overseas and I get an automated message that wifi calling is not supported, but that's another story. Thanks for the responses.
  21. Just one question which I don't know the answer to. I have wifi calling on my phone and it is always enabled, but if I am overseas does a person calling from home have to use wifi calling to reach me, or will the call come through regardless if I have wifi calling enabled?
  22. Yep, you are correct. As I said though if you keep your phone in airplane mode you don't have a working phone in the traditional sense. I, for one, like getting texts from home from people reminding me of how badly my football team is going.😪
  23. Oh, i agree with you completely, but sometimes we just have to help ourselves. It's a mystery to me why some sites work on some browsers when others don't but that's beyond my tech level.
  24. I have to disagree based on my experience over quite a few years. Data searching is what racks up the bills, not calls. I'm also on a pre paid amount each month so if for some reason I hit my allowance (never have) I guess my device will just cut out. Of course the other option if you want to watch voice costs is simply don't answer the phone. However if you might need/want to be contactable this way and it gives people that option.
  25. My point was that you do not need to put the phone in Flight mode - just disable mobile data. Then you'll still have a phone that can receive messages and, in many places, calls as well. You will not receive messages over your phone network if it is in flight mode.
