getting older slowly

I think the reality is Sydney will always have the largest number of cruises due to central location and the wonderful harbor.... Brisbane does ok..... one could say what about Melbourne..... very limited Cruises and only a couple lines end port here... Remember it is about the Dollar... and little to do about us people.... Cruise pricing ... is not just looking at the fare..... To me it is the total cost of the trip..... ( fare, excursions, drinks, specialty dinning etc ... and getting to the ship ) Also the percentage of the total cost... to the fare changes a lot from the fare for an inside cabin to a suite..... It reminds of the story of a person buying a Roll Royce and asks about cost of running it and servicing... if you need to ask you can't afford it. Cheers Don

OBC are a perk or sweetener not a given...... it is a trade off with a very reduced deposit you tend to forfeit some thing else the cruise line is there to make money.... nothing is for free..... Don with coffee

aft suites are the way to go for bigger outdoor space.... Table with 4 chairs and 2 sun lounges.... but that it on older ships..

Agreed no real biggie.... one takes longer cruises and does not travel in school holidays.... they can go to the pool.... as it is something i do not use..... I shudder at the thought of me in bathers...... Cheers Don

It sounds great... and good way to see some of the south island... just remember getting into Milford Sound is very weather dependent... so the overland trip could be cancelled....... Are you going on the 4th Nov Cruise ?? as we are on that one too Cheers Don

I looked at again 59 night at $54k pp so $1800 per day for us...... started thinking Then one saw No laundry and No drinks at the bar only with lunch and dinner I think Not I will leave the money in the bank Cheers Don

To Add a couple of points Re the OP...... one thought is it depends on how one approaches the staff ,,, and weather one started by blowing one's top..... whatever way, it should have be fix asap. Re older ship coming to Australia, it is sort of expected and only the brits have kettles Re Choosing Ships..... a luxury we do not have here... if you want to leave from a particularly port... most time you take it of leave it there is no choice of ship Cheers Don

Thanks all for your replies.... Also found a video on you-tube of the Grand taken Nov 21 Totally agree.... always had a soft spot for the Golden.... Interestingly on one of our cruises the sofa in the suite had a block of wood under it as something was broken..... We just go with the flow.... ( we have had most things a fire, man overboard, many missed ports. storms but nothing has stop us enjoying ourselves ) Cheers Don

I personally do not want to cancel..... i was thinking if princess cancel the cruise... I wonder what would happen if NZ closed to cruise ships... 13 nights leave Melbourne and do laps of Tasmania before returning ??? Time to stop thinking... and just see what happens.... Don
