I also missed the old menu -- Osso Bucco especially. However, the calamari-shrimp app was really fine -- had it 3 times. Another new item was the grilled seafood entree. Be sure to try the new Castanea dessert.

I think I may have posted a photo of the new menu, when I was on the Star. I started a "Live From Viking Star Hawaiian Island Sojourn 28 Dec. 2023" Topic is active again, as @SantaFe1 is on Star now, same itin., continuing Live From if you want to look for it, in the 1st few pages. Sorry did not save it to my phone.

I did not receive it in the post like you did. Was on Regatta, Sept 2023, when Allura itins. announced. Each cabin had the huge brochure. Wanted to take it home, but, oh so heavy. Came home and ordered it from O website, receiving confirm email. Never came. Called up a couple months later to enquire, and rep ordered it again. Still never came. I just ordered it again today from website. We shall see. Learned from Seatrade Cruise News, O has a new magazine/brochure called Your World. Also ordered it from website. Hoping both will arrive. Maybe they don't want me back!

V included shorex: Dependent on quality of guide. Have had some really terrific guides -- knowledgeable, personable. And some not so.

Weather and Clothing - Chilean Fjords in March

@Big Dan Over on Oceania board, check topic: "Mumbling about Marina" they are there now. -
SSBP $25 pp cost includes grats. Also, if you purchase by the drink, grat also included. V prices seem very reasonable by the drink. SSBP also includes most wine/spirits tasting events and you would receive a 20% discount on bottles/ drinks over $50. We personally love Manfredis Italian. A revised menu, some subtractions and additions, from prior cruises. Not sure which ship you're on, but V is using 4 different Manfredis menus. We were on Star, in Dec/Jan and it was menu #4. Will be on Star again in March, so not sure which menu will be offered.

Same rough seas night 1 on our 28 December voyage. Captain Magnus warned us -- and he was correct. Lasted about 2-3 days. Not too bad, but needed to hold railings and use care moving about. Bags were out. GS has seasickness tabs. If you have time, will you post a photo of the Officers Display screen. I think it's on Deck 1 port side, across from Living Room Bar. Thanks

Surprised to hear of Restaurant and Bar disappointments. On our 28 Dec Star voyage, we encountered none of these issues. Perhaps new staff/managers etc. Hope they work out any problems going forward so you will be able to report improvement. Regarding time zone changes: From LA to Hawaii, changes were made a 2 am, like normal. However, on return from Hawaii to Mexico, both time changes were at 10 am -- 10 am became 11 am. Could not figure out why. Let us know if your new captain will follow suit. Did cause some confusion, as a couple who was to join us for dinner one evening, forgot to change clocks, so they did not join us, not wanting to be disruptive to the table.

Was on Star Dec/Jan 2024. Had SSBP. My recollection is that wines "with asterisk" are not available on SSBP. However, if one has SSBP, one will receive a discount on bottles priced above $50. Any wines listed by glass $18 or less are available on SSBP.

Just 1 red and 1 white included lunch and dinner. One may ask if rose is available as included. On a prior cruise--(no SSBP) wife asked for a Reisling as included, and they brought one.

We had an official M&M on Star December/January 2024. Organized On Roll call, organizer gave list to GS, V sent invites to cabins. Was in Wintergarden, with many officers, staff and CD. If interested, organize it on Roll call, asking fellow pax for 1st names, city, cabin #

On Star, December/January 2024, there was a French Champagne on SSBP. Can't remember name. After a few days, wine list was reprinted, omitting it. On new list, no other French Champagne available by glass, only bottles. Asked sommelier about it, said they still had it, but limited qty. Told me just ask for it, I did, and they brought it to table, over subsequent days.

Yes, the anonymity of CC! Thanks for correction. Enjoy the day of embarkation.

Bourbon guy here also. No experience with what you want to do. Was on Star December/January 2024. Enjoyed Woodford Reserve at different bars. Was on SSBP. Was never told it was in short supply. Will be back on Star 18 March 2024, TA. Hope they still stock it.

Hello V friends, If anyone interested, @SantaFe1 and others are on Star 14 February 2024, Hawaiian Islands Sojourn. He will be posting observations by piggy backing onto my earlier topic: "LIVE from Viking Star-- Hawaiian Islands Sojourn -- 28 Dec. 2023 --13 January 2024" https://boards.cruisecritic.com/topic/2981581-live-from-viking-star-hawaiian-islands-sojourn-28-dec-2023-13-january-2024/page/6/#:~:text=Cruise Critic Community-,LIVE,-from Viking Star

On last cruise, didn't preregister, nor at check-in. If desired, one can even pay in cash at end. Just go to GS to tell them, as I did and was expecting to give deposit, but was not required, possibly because I had a nice OBC, both non-refundable and refundable. Then, much later in voyage, changed mind, and gave them AMEX, which proved to be to my advantage.
