  1. I couldn’t remember. I won a few bids early on and the cabins were fine by DH is very particular about room locations so we stopped doing it.
  2. We are platinum on Princess, although it has been years since we sailed them, but will be sailing the Regal on Sunday. We are Diamond on Carnival and Diamond on NCL. We have 42 days on Royal but I don’t remember what that tier is called. I think everyone has explained the differences quite well, but here is something to consider when you are somewhat new to cruising and looking for your “right fit”. Loyalty program. If you plan to cruise a good deal through the years, do a side by side comparison on each lines perks per category. I have found that NCLs Latitude program leaves everyone else in the shade. On top of the items to consider, as others have so well outlined, look at the long haul. NCL also has an very good Mastercard program. at the end of the day, they are all more alike than different, but it’s the nuances in life that define us all. Happy sailing.
  3. I did google it but the posts were all from early this year and did not give the plus level wine names, just generic, Pinot Grigio, Chardonnay, etc. i assume since it’s a CCL family, the SV will be Santa Helena or Santa Marguerite for a few extra dollars. Thanks y’all. In 72 hours, I’ll know 🥂
  4. I got an upgrade email yesterday for my 2/2/24 cruise. Seems a bit earlier than I remember, but I haven’t bid in so long I don’t remember.
  5. Can’t find a menu of the wines onboard. Anyone have a link? TYIA
  6. I had read that they started allowing both discounts so I applied for the veterans and got it and the SHOBC.
  7. I had to put the info in multiple times before it took. Very aggravating. Even though I have an email acknowledging my order, my check list still shows our medallions not completed. This is our first fifth PCL cruise, but it’s been 14 years since our last one, things are so much more confusing than the other lines we sail. Nothing on the website seems to be intuitive.
  8. They no longer place them in the balcony cabins as a routine thing, but your steward will get you one if you ask. Just like coffee makers.
  9. Jason fly, The highest level cabin you can upgrade to is a BA. EllieinNJ, no, when your points expire, they’re dead and buried.
  10. Yeh, that really irritates me. I called and complained and the little snot said, “ well, if you don’t want the calls all you have to do is tell us”. Click.n. 👿👿👿. CNs have become the time share of NCLs world.
  11. Yes, the hard sell is getting obnoxious. Not to mention that they really do spin that “free OBC” line in such a way as to misrepresent the transaction. Last cruise I was second in line and the CN rep was really pressuring the guy in front of me to purchase and said, “look, I’m going to pay for your spa treatment”. Not exactly what is happening, which is clear if you read the CN posts here. I wish they would stop all that mess and sell them online, the same way they do the CF cents (which BTW, the $500/250 is back).
  12. It’s a pretty rare occurrence, but it can happen.. Spit happens but it is best to not react by going overboard. 🤣
  13. Well. I was one of those people. Years ago on A RCCL cruise they dropped five pieces of luggage over board, into them into the MS River. They did not fess up to what happened until the second afternoon. I had literally the clothes on my back and a tee shirt they gave me to sleep in. Long, long story, but after one of my humorous letters to the CEO of Royal, complete with blow by blow retelling of my tale, we received a complimentary 7 day cruise on the ship of our choice. This cruise is known in our household as The Neck’ed on the Hgh Seas Cruise” Which is why I never ever check baggage on planes or cruise ships.
  14. Oh, they’re pretty, alright, but just awful drinks. The one made from used coffee grounds was the worst. Plus they cost more than a comparable cocktail, and they are very sweet.
  15. Well, NCL is so consistently inconsistent. 😵‍💫
  16. It is a disservice for NCL to perpetuate the perk of Concierge service available to non suite platinum guests. I had the one experience I cited earlier, and one other time I called and asked if this was in fact available and he nicely said “no, the concierge have so much on their plate they can’t take on anything else”. I know some people have reported getting help, but that is by far the exception, not the rile.
  17. I make my own pods with our favorite coffee from home. They do not use the k cup style, but the little Barbie pillow size style.
  18. I’m Diamond and when we first made platinum I called the concierge for help and he said something very rude about me not being in a suite or above and hung up on me. Never called again as we are lowly balcony cruisers, as others have said, go to CN as soon as it opens. Things are capacity controlled and people sign up for things then don’t attend, which means lots of other people get left out because of no shows. At our wine tasting there were very few people and at the mixology thing we were the only ones. But after doing it once I understand why anyone who had suffered thru it would not want to return. The sustain cocktails were hideous 🤮
  19. It’s probably too recent to have any reports yet. are you looking to do that? If so, call WP and see what they say. Then, let us know, please.
  20. If after your first cruise you find NCL to your liking, apply for the NCL Mastercard. You will get an automatic 20,000 points, sometimes even 25,000, to use in a variety of ways. OBC, statement credit, cabin upgrades. There is a sticky at the top of the NCL forum all about it.
  21. Our last CCL debarkation in Galveston was in September and we barely slowed down, walked past the facial recognition machine and kept walking. We were in our care at 7:25.
  22. On the BA in February you could make reservations in Manhattan but not the other MDRs.
  23. I used to participate in roll calls and attended meet and greets all the time, especially on longer cruises with port intensive itineraries with lots of information to share. But it seemed after a while the host of the MnG did not have any idea in how to conduct a meeting and the whole time was spent passing around a microphone so people who didn’t know how to use one could go on and on and . . Yu get it about nothing relevant, so now I stop in long enough to pick up the card with the officers name and numbers (the real jewel of the meeting, IMHO). The roll calls on the social media site can be pretty rude, so I may read them, but seldom post. I find many of the posters there to be anything but seasoned cruisers and there is a lot of misinformation there. There is on CC, too at times, but it’s the Wild West over there. I do think it was a disservice to the CC members when they stopped the PM function. And
  24. Somehw the medication bag has grown a bit, too! But there are so many things in longer take, some because cruising has changed (no more formal nights) more casual MDR attire
  25. My, military husband is a pack eeeaaarly guy (“if you’re 15 minutes early, you’re 30 minutes late”). I am an early organizer, but rather than wrinkle clothes more than necessary I just lay them all out on the spare room bed. I have a very typical group of clothes so I know how much I need for an adjustment, like cold weather or wet situations. We are carryon only, so it’s critical to get it right. But I like seeing it all laid out in there as I walk by - so long as the cat isn’t taking a nap on my clothes 🤭. I think, especially if you don’t travel often, it’s good to see it laid out to give yourself an idea about where you can make adjustments. Enjoy!
