  1. It all comes down to manners: 1.) Use earbuds if you must be on a call. Shockingly, when in public, I prefer to use mine when on a call as I can hear the other person better. 2.) Be mindful of your volume, not everyone needs to know your half of the conversation. If you have to step out of the room, go right ahead. 3.) If someone is using the camera to take a picture or video, don't walk in front of them. Go around or wait the 30 seconds. 4.) Don't text and walk: you're not the only person there and you could wind up hurting someone (most likely me).
  2. Nope. They'll take his mug shot at Embarkation though.
  3. Seeing as it will be a relatively new ship, I wouldn't expect prices to go down. That said, keep checking for other ships, as some lines have started to announce their 2025 itineraries.
  4. Just off Celebrity two months ago and there were no masking or testing requirements.
  5. 39 days, Venezia. Time to break out my DOUBLE DIGIT dance!
  6. Same thing happened to me a few months back on the Royal app. It told me that I had to report to my Muster Station about a month before my cruise, while I was at work....I thought I won a free cruise!
  7. Nope, we have 4 in the party and only 2 have the app (myself and Mom). We tag team the check-in and even have a competition to see who can do it faster: Mom and Dad or me and my niece. For the cruise, we use my app mainly, with Mom's as a backup.
  8. When do you sail? I'm a month out and I'm cruising with friends who have a regular balcony, while I have a Cove Balcony. I may be able to answer your question.
  9. Coming from a former introvert that was PAINFULLY shy: the cruise is what you make of it. Be as active and social as you want. Now I'm not shy AT ALL thanks to cruising.
  10. Yes and it really bugs me as I do this for a living: "there's nothing going on on a cruise ship"! It's clearly stated in your activity schedule that you get DAILY in your room (or at Guest Services), mentioned NUMEROUS times over the announcements, posted EVERYWHERE on the ship, is available in your app, or mentioned several times on the ship's TV channel, so to say that nothing is going on is not even remotely true. Now, whether or not it's something YOU'RE interested in is a different story. It's up to YOU to seek out the activity. The staff is already busy, and it's expected that you'll find a way to seek out the groups. They've already provided several avenues for this, find one that works for you and do that.
  11. Hi everyone! I just joined today, my family and I will be joining friends on this cruise to celebrate 2 retirements in the party. My mom, dad, and I are no strangers to cruising: we just finished our 31st cruise on Celebrity Summit. We've done 3 Carnival cruises before (Holiday....yes I know I'm dating myself here.....Triumph, and Pride) and one Costa cruise (Costa Victoria). While we were not fans of either line, we want to try this new venture that Carnival seems to have. We've done our research and Carnival seems to be getting more in-line with what we're looking for in a cruise, and from what we remember of Costa, the food was fantastic. The two things we didn't care for with Costa were the fact that smoking was allowed everywhere on the ship (we're non-smokers, but don't mind smoking being allowed in selected areas) and the fact that for every single announcement on the ship, they did it in 7 languages, with English being the last one (it took well over 20 min. for the English speakers to get the announcement because of this). With that said, we have been assured by our TA (that we've worked with for years) that they no longer do this. Don't get me wrong, we love listening to and learning other languages (mom and I are both bilingual in different languages: French and English for her, American Sign Language and English for me), most of the cruisers spoke English, so announcements were kind of tedious. What attracted us most to this cruise was the itinerary. We've been to the ports before, but not in the last 20 or so years. Amber Cove is our beach day, we loved Grand Turk, Princess Cays is beautiful, we adore San Juan (our favorite holiday was spending Christmas Eve at night there and seeing the entire town all lit up), and NY is my "home away from home". When I'm not cruising or playing my Ukulele, I'm either volunteering with Google (as a Made By Google Product Expert), going to school (currently going through Coursera for certificates in IT Support, Cyber Security, HR Generalist, and Meta Social Media Marketing....and of course I'm not doing all those certificates at the same time), I run the cruise channel, "Cruising With Kristen" on YouTube: here is the link. Fair warning, you may wind up in the video, if you don't want to be in it, let me know and I will find a way to get you out.
  12. It depends on the port and the staff that day how strict they are. Went on Anthem twice, exactly a year apart. First time around they were short-staffed and sent folks to the end of the line if they showed up late and asked early arrivals to wait until their allotted time. A year later, same ship, we had no wait time. Cruised from Boston 2 months ago and arrived on time, but that didn't matter as they weren't properly trained or staffed so we ended up waiting almost an hour to board. Usually the slots are in one-hour increments.
  13. I'm due to make Elite on The Connie in 2025! I'm 32 points away!
  14. Gave myself another early birthday present, which I am also giving my niece for Christmas: I booked myself, her, and my Mom all on the Alpine Coaster in Labadee for our next cruise! Mom and I have been on Alpine Coasters before, my niece hasn't but wants to try it.
  15. Thanks! We decided to book. We have a TA that we've been working with for years who is very honest with his experiences on ships. Last year he took his family on The Connie on this itinerary and loved it. He even advised doing the Roatan zipline tour. We've been on all her sister ships and loved them so much we went on one of them twice...The Celebrity Summit. I just got off The Summit and her remodel was stunning, so if The Connie's remodel is anything like that, we're in for a treat. Our TA did say that The Connie has a loyal following, I'm hoping that I'll be one of her followers too. My family is full of cruisers and if we like a ship, we'll go again and do things we didn't get to the first time around. Classic examples in our family include The Grandeur (4x), Anthem (2x), and The Summit (2x).
  16. I read it several places, here is just one example: Reddit I personally have never had a problem bringing rechargeable batteries on a cruise, but that was 10-20 years ago. Nowadays, I bring cameras and such that use cables to recharge.
  17. According to the Royal Caribbean FAQs, it looks like you can bring batteries onboard. However, I have read elsewhere (no idea if it's true or not) that they have to be lithium ion and you can only bring 2 in your carry-on. You may want to ask Royal directly to be sure.
  18. I actually did hear from them. They just need to verify her height onboard and then she can be added to the reservation.
  19. Happy Thanksgiving! Gave myself a few early birthday presents: 1.) Booked The Connie (Celebrity) for 2025, visiting 5 ports, 2 of which I haven't been to......New Orleans and Roatan. The other 3 are Tampa, Cozumel, and Costa Maya. 2.) Booked Dragons Breath Zipline for Labadee in 2024 3.) Booked the Alpine Coaster also for Labadee in 2024
  20. So my Mom and I purchased the Alpine Coaster for Labadee and my niece (under 12) wants to join us. On the site, it won't let me choose her as a guest. While it says on the site that the driver can't be under the age of 12 (we get it and are not fighting it), it only says that the passenger needs to be over the age of 5 (which she is). I fully intend to purchase her ticket, so that's not an issue either. Am I allowed to add her to the reservation and how would I do that (call, wait until we board, email, etc.)?
  21. Just make sure you're not under the cafe. I saw a YouTube of someone on Deck 9 of the Summit (sister ship) and there was CONSTANT noise from the cafe.
  22. Thank you so much, I just checked my cruise planner to see if I purchased the right one (thank God I did!). I did have the right one purchased. As a fairly new rider, I want to have a few more Ziplines under my belt before I try "Superman Style"! Thank you also to @Ravensfan1973 for answering my camera question!
  23. I've done it 3 times. You ride all 3 lines, and it takes about an hour. You're criss-crossing the entire island. There's a short safety video to watch, and you will be weighed (but your weight isn't shared) to determine which zip to put you on. You travel in groups of two and you're watched the entire time by 2 staff members: one at the beginning of each line (who will hook you up) and one at the end (who will unhook you). Cameras are allowed, provided they can be secured to your person. Close-toed shoes are required for safety reasons. I did a YouTube Video of all 3 lines heading down the zipline, but only shared best 2 lines I got. It was my first time using my GoPro, so it may not be the best quality, but it will give you an idea of what it's like. I wasn't aware where the harness was going to fall, so you'll see the harness in the shots.
  24. I was just about to ask the same thing. I want to do the seated one (no way am I doing the "Superman" one!). I do have a GoPro, complete with a chest strap, so I assume that's allowed? It's already been tried and tested on the Cocoa Cay zipline, and it worked great, so I'm hoping that kind of mount is allowed on this one. Also, I assume we can choose which style zipline we want to ride ("Superman" vs seated)?
