I do have automatic payments on some utilities (cable, electricity), but the payments go to credit cards which must get paid. Although credit cards can also be set up for autopay, I would never pay a credit card bill sight unseen due to the possibility of fraudulent or incorrect charges. Sure on a short cruise of two weeks or less I would be home in time to pay any bills, but on a trip longer than that, I would have to pay while on the trip. And in the days before anyone had one or more Internet devices, ships only had Internet availability via an Internet Cafe and, in Princess's case, a computer in each full suite. So back then I would purchase Internet minutes to do what was essential while traveling. Even with free Platinum/Elite Internet minutes, I would use the Internet less than 10 minutes a day. (By the way, back before anyone had one or more Internet devices, the Platinum/Elite benefit was for unlimited Internet minutes in the Internet Cafe.)

28-day Alaska Cruise - looking for the Princess news release
caribill replied to Ken the cruiser's topic in Princess Cruises
If itineraries are essentially identical on multiple cruise lines, then the benefits that come with loyalty status come into the decision making process. If I am going on a 7-day Caribbean cruise out of south Florida, I can choose from multiple cruise lines that offer similar itineraries and experiences. -
o View and pay bills: Credit cards, home utilities, etc. o Communicate with vendors of independent shore excursions on the cruise

If you are spending a great deal of time using the four devices at one time, then the bigger expense is the cruise fare which makes the cruise an expensive traveling Internet Cafe.

One important fact not mentioned is if your existing 4-person booking is a GTY or is for a specific cabin. If it is a GTY, then if you remove your name from the booking a 2-person cabin may be assigned in which case you cannot get yourself added back to that booking.

Your TA can handle all the details including providing a form if needed. My TA does not need a form to get a booking transferred to her.

Actually, he was promoted from his TV news show gig (ended 1977) to be Captain (started 1977). Last name still began with an "S" so he did not have to throw out his monogrammed clothing.

No, individuals do not have a reservation. It is just a group of seats available for anyone who has the status to use them.

Should I book another cruise while on board? any benefit?
caribill replied to lion1956's topic in Princess Cruises
True up until about a month ago. Newly issued ones require booking (not sailing) within a year of purchase. The older FCDs are still good for two years. -
How is the bidding system doing? Any comments?

Yes -
Not the original Love Boat I sailed on. No inside or regular oceanview cabin had a bed two people could sleep in. One bed (a couch during the day) was against the outside wall and the other was mounted (folded up) on a wall perpendicular to it. As the pictures below show, the cabin on the Aloha deck was not nearly as roomy as the ones shown on the original TV show. (Balcony cabins did not exist then.)

How do I find the titles of shows on my ship before arriving?
caribill replied to Kitty Ellas Mom's topic in Princess Cruises
Best way is to ask the question on a "live from" thread from the ship you will be on. Of course only the "production" show information will apply to your cruise. Entertainers such as comedians, singers, etc. can be different from one voyage to the next. -
Noro will hit you hard in less than 24 hours after catching it. So they were not spreading it at work, etc. because they did not have it then. Anyone with active noro would be in no condition to travel to a cruise. So initially passengers likely pick it up on the way to the cruise or at a port stop. Then once on board, will spread it before the symptoms hit. Or spread it after symptoms hit by not staying in their cabin.

Alaska Escorted cruise/Land Tour August 2023
caribill replied to larry96's topic in Princess Cruises
Correct. The luggage that Princess transfers can be the usual size you would check on an airline. The day bag you carry yourself should be the size you would normally put under your seat on a plane flight because that is what you will have to do on the trains that are a part of the tour. By the way, since a cruise is part of the cruisetour, you may have additional luggage that Princess will store for you to be delivered to your cabin if the tour is first or to meet you at the last hotel/lodge if the tour is after the cruise. Unlike on the cruise, for the tour part you will be unpacking and packing every one or two nights. With most of our clothes just needed for the cruise, for the tour part we put both of our clothes, etc. in the same suitcase so we had less to unpack and pack each day. So although we each could have a regular suitcase on the tour part, we had just one for the both of us. Took less space in the rooms on the tour and less effort to find what we needed since the suitcase did not have stuff we needed just for the ship. -
Dietary restrictions at lunch time - Sapphire Princess
caribill replied to rsera's topic in Princess Cruises
Whether you have the same waitstaff or not, it does not matter. Your pre-order is saved using your cabin number. You just have to tell the waitstaff at lunch that you have pre-ordered and give them your cabin number. If you do have different staff each lunch time, be sure to ask for the person who takes your special order for the next dining room lunch. I do not know if you can ask for a dinner item at lunch time. You will have to ask on board about that. -
Because when one person gets up at night, the bright light can wake up the other person who is sleeping.
-
For adults at dinner, a no-no. For 8-year old boys, a yes-yes.
-
Not what they should have said. Just like a shore excursion paid for pre-cruise, if it is cancelled when on board the money gets posted as OBC. No wonder you are having such a hard time getting your money back. HQ probably thinks it was refunded while on board.
-
What Steelers36 said is the way it is supposed to work. Did you ask about the refund while still on board the ship?
