  1. I can't remember the last time I saw a senior with backpack, stuffed to the gills, or even most seniors wanting to wear one at all. So I'm not sure why this discussion went that way. Even as a 36 year-old, healthy, male, there is no part of me that finds comfort in a heavy backpack on my back vs "lugging around" a wheeled luggage (for half of the time that I would have the backpack), that can be as big or as small as I want.
  2. Cruise critic response: no Cucina or Diamond Event. Absolutely horrible product! Reality: I didn't use those things anyway. Cucina entrees now part of MDR. OBC offered for free drinks. Aka, things that have always been asked for.
  3. Bringing entire ships to operation is far more important to showing a viable business than staffing a slow restaurant.
  4. I'm not really sure where you are going with this. Between any toiletries, sunscreen, beach wear, elegant wear, casual wear, foot wear, etc there is nothing liberating about not being able to have it. I find it more liberating to have my bottle of wine, snorkel, and anything else that I will need to not pay exorbitant prices for inferior products. We unpack and everything we have is there for the week. It really isn't a problem in the slightest. If you want to move down to a carry-on, or share one or a larger suitcase with someone else, I have done that plenty of times. Some people absolutely overpack, and that I understand as a burden. Just be honest with us and tell us you want to save on luggage fees.
  5. To answer the OP, door slammers are people who make a point to slam their door with all of their might, sprint down the hallway, run back to the room, and repeat the cycle for hours. Or perhaps, being surrounded by dozens of rooms around, below, and above you, you might hear one, especially with the balcony vacuum. As usual, the internet has a minor inconvenience and knows better than designers who have spent their life on safety and regulation. Cheng sets it straight with the why. Don't you keep one in your over-the-door-organizer?
  6. While it sounds like sunshine and rainbows to come to a compromise on a "popular internet dispute" what would it really look like in practice? Is there really this massive divide that a few, loud, voices insist? Many cruise lines are already on the tighter side of dinner reservations / space. To further complicate / restrict resources would accomplish what on the business end?
  7. Do you still wear your top hat to church? Having your hands and clothes covered in dirt or poop is different from wearing something a little more comfortable while on a hot, relaxing, vacation. Many opinions vary on what "appropriate attire" is. I can without a doubt say that I've seen plenty of people wear pants and a collared shirt, looking like they rolled out of a dumpster. Meanwhile someone in shorts and flip flops looks more presentable. If my shorts are what prevents who think like this from interacting with me, my shorts are paying more comfort dividends than I originally thought.
  8. This is a twist of words. No one is saying these things are acceptable. What some question, is if the response is necessary (or if it really happened as claimed). No one is "having" to stand in a guest services line for 2 hours. Nor do we believe it was truly that long. I wouldn't be caught dead at guest services at the beginning unless it's something major like I can't get into my room. You have the whole trip to dispute it. We don't always need everything solved NOW. If my room had roaches, I would have respectfully told housekeeping, who nearly always greets you asap. Knowing them, they would have sincerely apologized, and resolved it without issue. Does this place not have the late night eats? I can't remember being on a cruise where the lido buffet didn't have snacks from 11-1?
  9. So, nothing has changed. Well I shouldn't say nothing. Now people are experts on virology and economics. Therefore, they can articulately speak to all of these impacts.
  10. If you have been a cruise so many times, that you are sick of common ports, I could only imagine how fresh the experience onboard must feel like. I've been to my local downtown hundreds of times. That doesn't mean I can't enjoy it anymore. Maybe one day I will understand it more. I guess it makes a little more sense to me if you are trying to save money. I get off the ship. No matter how many times I've been to places like Nassau, it has beautiful beaches which I am definitely not spending too much time at. Shops, bars, and restaurants are also fun to stop by. The variety of cruising is what makes it all so fun. There's a certain energy on port days that isn't matched (IMO) on back to back to back sea days. Seems like a boring cruise to me to stay onboard at ports. That's when they do a lot of maintenance. Few fun events are going on. There is also no shortage of time to lay around and relax.
  11. Restarting an entire fleet of cruise ships and being in a labor and supply crunch, there are bound to be some hiccups. Nothing will ever stop the busybodies, who know nothing of any hardship other than a perceived inconvenience to themselves
  12. I agree on the steak. The new steak is god awful. The old one was so tasty. If you gotta give us a flat iron or sirloin, that's fine. Whatever that thing is now, is awful.
  13. Functionally, I don't see the difference. People would pay $400 if it was "nicer wood". What's wrong? Does this not portray enough of an image of "look what I can afford?"
  14. This was a far bigger deal to us than it should have been. Don't remember this in the past. I believe the cheese and olive spreads were my favorites.
