  1. I was just checking my cruise history and haven't sailed Eclipse since 2010. Yikes. I'm pretty sure they have updated the beds (speculation) but all the non-revolutionized ships they have the original wood paneling and original more comfortable furniture and none of the Kelly Kitch.
  2. We figured we would hold off and calculate one on the ship. I was a bit surprised (if I'm not wrong) that if a drink is over package cost you have to pay the full amount instead of just the difference like many other cruises. I am a Coffee addict so will definitely be taking advantage of that.
  3. Like you I'm really surprised there have bee so few Hurricanes so far. Hoping for the best but I do like a bit of movement on the ship...
  4. I've done that a couple times. The RS dropped to about $500 over the CS price I had booked.
  5. Like you I have had some REALLY rough crossings. One Nov 18, 2018 crossing on Silhouette - Northern Crossing Boston, Beaches and Broadway-- there was a huge storm and they had to route all ships - QM2 was in front of us - South of the Azores. It caused us to arrive Boston a day late and they had to cancel Bermuda. All our furniture from deck in a RS was moved into our living room for the entire cruise. When I started cruising 23 years ago I got terribly sea sick but outgrew it and now. Now I enjoy a bit of rokin and rolling.
  6. Hope we get an opportunity to meet. I've done a number of TA's maybe -- This I would consider a Mid-Atlantic Crossing. You can never tell when storms will come along but generally are rather mild. Some have been so smooth you would swear you were on a lake. Often the area of the Azores can be a bit rocky but the ships usually follow a shadow of calmer water on the east side of the islands. This website really gives a one week projection of Sea Heights in animated fashion. http://www.stormsurfing.com/cgi/display.cgi?a=natla_height If you look at the rotation you will see why the Northern Crossings can be so rough and the Southern crossing normally the calmest.

    Status Match

I thought the same thing. We are Double Zenith on Celebrity and matched at VS 500 Days and have never sailed. When we status Matched for our first Ponant Cruise... we were invited to their top level cocktail party and that was really the only benefit we received and an OBC. Our friends who have been sailing Ponant for years were rather put out that we had higher status than they had.
  8. I picked up on the word "Modernization" not Revolution, which may mean mini- revolutions during dry dock instead of adding Retreat Decks and Refurbishing the rooms.
  9. We are on November 16 Silhouette. Silhouette still has about 45 cabins open - It is not uncommon to see cancellations at or near final payment date. Not sure of which category you are looking for but the prices I see are: Inside $940 pp Veranda Guarantee $990pp Concierge 1,330 PP Aqua 1,701 pp SS $5,740 Sunset Sky Suite $5,839
  10. Yes... unless you book a Suite and then it is $900 pp Also if you buy a future booking certificate they have a limited life and are now NON-REFUNDABLE. You either book within a window or loose your unused deposit.
  11. Ok.. don't ask what I've been smoking.... I honestly thought you captured a butterfly.
  12. JMO - but I don't think they will be doing and full revolutions but may do some upgrading similar to the recent changes to Infinity - they updated Michael's Club to Retreat Lounge with non-Hoppner furniture... Yea... And changes to Luminae - increasing the number of tables and added Sunset Suites. https://www.travelwires.com/celebrity-infinity-unveils-luxurious-upgrades-for-european-exploration
  13. Sounds wonderful ----- but Alcohol triggers Migraines and unable to drink...
  14. Yes - that's the Promo we got. Not really concerned about the Grills Drink Package as I don't drink buy my Partner may upgrade..On the Promo we also go an OBC plus I had the Stockholders Credit applied. Looking at the confirmation I guess we got a $600 OBC Plus the $100 Stockholders Credit. I'm not sure he would buy the premium if he has a Bottle of Grey Goose in the room.
  15. If you do not have any free or discounted Internet (new to Cunard). Can you use your OBC once on the ship to purchase it. I noticed on the website they will only take a credit card. With $800 OBC not sure what else we would spend it on. We already have Premium Drink Packages with booking.
  16. If I recall correctly the only M and S Class ships that got the revolution were Celebrity Millennium — February 9, 2019 — Completed! Celebrity Summit — March 23, 2019 — Completed! Celebrity Silhouette — February 14, 2020 — Completed! Celebrity Equinox — June 1, 2019 — Completed! But had an accident in shipyard and did not get the full Revolution ----they didn't get the Retreat Sun Deck On the ships that did not get the Revolution the rooms have not been updated and most still have the old dark wooded Michael's Club. I think I read they upgraded Infinity Michael's Club to Retreat on last dry dock.
  17. I've never seen it on any Celebrity Ship. Bigalow is the standard and they have a French Soap in RS and above.
  18. You can also watch it on your TV in stateroom.... As a matter of fact I have seen some that didn't watch at all and given a quick 1 minute instruction at the muster station.
  19. That would be interesting.... heck with tradition if it tastes good.
  20. We had been invited to the Captain's Table a number of times. This was back before Luminae. The Captain's table was in the MDR and you met prior for a Champagne Toast and then marched through the MDR. At the time - invites were for top cruisers but also others were invited because the CC staff just liked the person. We once had a newlywed couple who had never sailed Celebrity but they were also Greek. In today's world we are invited to the Zenith Lunch which often is with the Captain and his Senior Officers. We are also often invited to a separate Lunch / Dinner when in Upper Suites. We often decline because we had just attended a Zenith Lunch. It is a nice opportunity to meet many of the Senior Staff
  21. Have a wonderful cruise... Looking forward to follow along. Was that a Butterfly sipping your wine?
  22. Can't wait --- I'm taking our first cruise on both Cunard and Oceania this fall. We have also booked the Tea at Empress Hotel in Vancouver which I hear is fantastic.
  23. Afternoon tea on all ships is not as nice as it use to be with cart service at your door in the afternoon. On revolutionized ships they now have the sandwiches, scones and sweets on the hot/cold table .... they do have butlers available to serve the tea. Problem is many of the tables with Kelly's design will not hold a pot of tea and two small plates... hmmm... On non- revolutionized ships they offer table service and if I recall they actually may bring selections to your table but also have a paper menu -- I think you tell them what you want instead of having an elegant tiered serving tower brought to your table. Those days are gone on celebrity along with other cutbacks.
  24. I'm not sure I would wear it either. Actually I don't wear the original Zenith Pin while Iain wears his to the Zenith Lunch.
  25. Thanks --- I think it may also not be a fare comparison as on our first Oceania cruise in September we are on Regatta which is one of their oldest and smallest ships. In the spring we will be on Vista their newer class so will be interesting.
