  1. Actually the gym was very nice for a smaller ship. Quite a few different weight machines, some free weights also. There were probably 8 or so treadmills, a couple of recumbent bikes and a couple regular ones and a couple elliptical machines. We had no problem finding equipment available to use.
  2. Good to not go in with high expectations but I think you will find the Vista a great ship. We finished our 1st O trip on Vista just 10 days ago and were very pleased. The ship is beautiful, elegantly decorated and service wonderful. A much better experience than our last 2 Celebrity cruises. We also had PH1 and were very pleased. They are a bit larger than most Sky Suites, much better appointed with furnishings, the bathroom is large with double sinks and a great rainfall shower. We couldn't have been happier with the room. Of course it is a much different experience because the ship is so much smaller. But the service everywhere was excellent, rarely waited more than a couple minutes before wait staff asked for drink orders. The specialty restaurants (no charge to anyone) are good to great, Toscano and Polo Grill especially. We booked another cruise on Allura in 2025 while on board.
  3. That looks like an interesting TA on an S class ship. The cruise that follows, Buenos Aires to Buenos Aires has a wonderful itinerary, one I haven't seen before on Celebrity. We have been looking for a South America cruise and this itinerary is enticing!!
  4. Thank you Jim. Something I haven't mentioned in of my posts on CC about Oceania, or at least the Vista, the ship we sailed. They have a library that is absolutely amazing. 3 rooms of books on every topic. Warm inviting comfy chairs. I don't know if the other O ships have this wonderful space, the Vista IS their newest ship, but it was just a lovely surprise to find this space on the ship. Most lines have eliminated or scaled down these areas to the point that they hardly bother. I know that Kindles and the like are the thing to do now, I use my Kindle too, but even sitting in an area like this be it with Kindle or one of the hundreds of books available was a welcome treat. Good luck on your cruiseline hunting, and on your upcoming Solstice cruise, I love the "S" class ships and especially the old Michael's Club, which Solstice still has. Hopefully it will feel more like Celebrity than your Edge experience.
  5. We were on Vista last week, our 1st O cruise. We found people mostly dressed "country club casual" in the evenings. Having said that we also found people who dressed up more, even saw one couple in tux and gown. All in all it was a wide mix of really casual to semi-formal (or formal in the case of the tux & gown couple). So wear what you want. The only thing I saw enforced personally was one person who had to go back and get a shirt with a collar to enter MDR for dinner.
  6. Our SBC for booking on board was $250 and the fare reduction was $300 per person.
  7. Just went and looked again...... I did get the $800, the $600 was the $300 per person on board booking credit. Sorry for the confusion. 😵
  8. Yes it does...... interesting. I will have my TA, who has now taken over the reservation look into this. Thanks
  9. Good question. I think they would tell you no but, at least in our case, our remaining "non refundable shore excursion credit" wound up offsetting other expenses. I expected to walk off with a bill for the total of the Gratuities and it was actually about $80.00 less, and yes the Gratuities were charged at full amount.... go figure, but I'm not complaining.
  10. It's happening before 1/1. We just booked a 12 night on board last Friday and we recieved $600 not $800
  11. Thank you for the wonderful review, the pictures everywhere, your feelings about the Edge and everything Celebrity. I'm sure that even with the shortcomings you found that it was a marvelous once in a lifetime adventure!!
  12. We just finished our 1st Oceania cruise. Service was amazing, the specialty restaurants great, especially Toscana. The "steak house" Polo Grill is far better than Fine Cut, superior service and food. Our butler was wonderful, the PH1 stateroom elegant and obviously designed by people who had actually been on a ship. We were very pleased and booked our next cruise on O while on board. Ran into several other former X people who were equally as happy. Am sure you will find the same.
  13. I don't have any pictures but the balcony was great. It(11071) and the corresponding room on the other side are the only balconies like it. It is about 1/2 not extended balcony and half extended. It had 2 chairs, a table and a lounge. It had great views forward from the shorter section and we had morning son on the extended portion when we were facing east and afternoon sun when facing west. We were very happy with it and in fact booked the same room on Allura for a trip in 2025. It is across from a crew pantry, so there is some noise. This didn't bother us at all but I'm sure it might some people.
  14. Absolutely true. Even the staff that have been lucky enough to work in Luminae on S & M state it is a much better venue, at least the ones we have spoken with. In fact, I know of a couple that have asked for their next contracts to be on S class ships. I hope it works out for them.
  15. It is correct. About 1/3 to 1/2 of the veranda is not extended, the rest is. We really liked it this way, the shorter section had the 2 chairs and table and the extended the lounge. It felt like 2 different areas, and also gave you great views forward, the shorter section is protected from the wind/rain. But the design also provided wonderful breezes that we would not have had if the balcony was fully extended. We liked it so much we booked the same room for our next O cruise.
  16. We never received the Mid Cruise Survey or heard the info about the end of cruise one. I read Currents front to back each day. This was for the cruise just ended this morning. Too bad because I wanted to compliment several people, and especially our butler Sup.
  17. We are on Vista now too in a PH on deck 11 and have not experienced this, thankfully. It may well be a “new” ship thing. Last fall on the new Celebrity Apex we thought the room was ripping apart the creaking and groaning was so loud. The Vista has been great in every way for us.
  18. On a ship with only 2 spec restaurants are there different guidelines for how many you can book than on the ones with 4?
  19. I gather that it becomes more difficult the closer to sail date. We are in a PH and booked our Specialty reservations the morning after they came open at 75 days out. We had no problem securing all 4 reservations. I think when it drops to next level which I think is at 60 days it gets tougher to get exact times you may want. We return home tomorrow, completely happy that we tried O and looking forward to our next O cruise.
  20. I believe you will be very happy with the choice to try Oceania. It has been like going back over 20 years to what Celebrity was as far as service and quality are concerned. The decor is elegant and warm. Yes, the entertainment is less, but there is enough for us and it’s good. We just booked a PH on a 12 nighter in 2025 on the Allura which is being built right now, at a great cost.
  21. We ate at Ember 2 nights ago. Service was fine but the food only average. After reading Jacque’s menu on the O site I suspect we would have loved dining there.
  22. We upgraded our beverage package to the “Premier” one through our TA the day after we made our reservation. It was added to the overall fare and has worked well for us. We are currently on Vista and having a great time. We just booked another cruise on board and will have our TA add the package when we get home.
  23. We are booking same room on Allura in 2025. Don’t think we will be returning to Celebrity for the foreseeable future.
