  1. No, it was more like get seated and wait about 10-15 minutes for someone to take our order. Then wait about 20 minutes or longer to get the food. On the Seaday Brunch I ordered the yogurt parfait for my "first course". It took about 20 minutes to come. The dining room wasn't real busy any of the mornings we were there, but I guess they were short staffed.
  2. I can't remember, but I don't think so. I think it was like 5 or 6. So tiny.
  3. This also applies to the calamari. They are tiny tiny tiny in a huge bowl and just look ridiculous! We got a good laugh!
  4. I think dinner should be 45 minutes to an hour. Anything over that is just too long and there are many other things to do in the evening. Our breakfasts on the sunshine last week took a really long time whether it was a sea day or a regular day. I think they might have been a little understaffed.
  5. I was just on the sunshine last week and I called to order it the morning of. Someone picked up right away and we had our food and coffee within about 20 minutes. I don't know if all the ships are that organized and fully staffed but it worked well for us. I didn't need to order ahead the night before and use it as a wake-up call as we were already awake.
  6. I don't lay out by the pool so this subject really doesn't apply to me, but it makes me really angry that people are so self-centered. On my last cruise, after breakfast we went out to the lido deck and the live wake show was on the big screen. I wanted to sit down but all the loungers had towels or whatever on them. I moved a towel to the top of the lounger and sat on the bottom of it. If the "owner"came by I would have gladly moved but they never did. So I say, just move their stuff and use the chair.
  7. Everything you said I agree with. I didn't want to use my phone on the last cruise but it really does make it a lot easier. I enjoyed looking at the events in advance and marking which ones I wanted. And also making a reservation for anytime dining each night was very easy and convenient. I don't like standing around at the check-in desk.
  8. Thanks everyone. I will wait a few days then use the link above if I still don't have it.
  9. We got home from the Carnival Sunshine yesterday and neither one of us has yet to receive the email with the post cruise survey. The cruise director said we should have it the day we disembark. Is there another way we can get this survey? We really want to recognize some of the hard-working crew members we encountered.
  10. I am the original poster. Just got back from Nassau and wanted to follow up in case someone searches for this subject in the future. We ended up at John Watlings Distillery and were then ready to go to the Fish Fry. We asked the first taxi we saw and he said $10 total for both. We added on a $5 tip. When we left the Fish Fry to go back to the Senor Frogs area/Bay St. he quoted $12 for both of us. Again we added on a $5 tip. We thought the prices were very reasonable and saved us LONG walks in the heat.
  11. I got back yesterday from a Bahamas cruise on the Sunshine and wanted to share my impressions and observations. EMBARKATION I asked others on this board for approximate timing for check-in because I didn’t want to lug around our bags while trying to get lunch. I chose a 12:30 arrival time and we sailed (pun intended!) through all the checkpoints. The longest line was probably 5 minutes, but it kept moving. We got up to the counter and she asked for our passports, covid cards, and boarding passes. Within 5 minutes we were on our way. We stopped to do the muster drill to kill some time. By then it was 1:20 so I figured we’d just camp out at the closed door leading to our hallway. When we got there a crew member was already opening it up so we got in a little early. Dropped our bags, ooh’d and aah’d at our extended aft balcony, then headed up to the lido deck. FOOD Food was overall pretty good. The buffet was smaller than I thought based on watching YouTube videos but I usually found something. (I’m a vegetarian) We LOVED the dining room dinners! Breakfast, both the Seaday Brunch and regular breakfast menu, were also good but we noticed service was very slow. Dinner was not slow, but I could tell they were busy because they were hustling between tables. KIDS We usually cruise in September or October because kids are back in school. I don’t know what changed, but there were LOTS OF KIDS on this cruise. School-age too. We didn’t have any problems with them, just noticed there were a lot of them. AFTERNOON TEA So glad it’s back. My last attempt on the Ecstasy in 2019 was a nightmare! (got hot water but no tea bag, scone but no cream, etc) This time was much better. VERY fast service. Only 2 sandwiches, but lots of sweets. I love sweets, but it was just too many. I wanted more sandwich choices. All the pastries/desserts were fabulous! HAVANA BAR My new favorite spot on the ship! I am not a big drinker, but we got the Cheers package for a really cheap price while booking so I wanted to make the most of it. I tried the Cuban Iced Tea and fell in love. Had 1-2 per day and they were STRONG! Also loved the Cuban coffees and pastries they had at breakfast. JAVA BLUE COFFEE BAR This place was always busy with a long line until about dinner time. They had 2 crew members working there but they definitely need more. The chocolate milkshake was delicious! HUB APP This worked great for us. I was hesitant to use it at first because I’m “old school”. but it worked really well. I was able to see all the activities and save the ones I wanted for quick access. It was great for Any Time dining. Every night was a less than 10 minute wait with one night being 10-20 minutes. It was easy to check the menus too. I don’t miss paper anything anymore. UNEXPECTED ACTIVITY Our last day, a seaday, there was an announcement around 3AM for medical personnel to go to a certain cabin. (not sure why we ALL had to hear that) Later in the morning the cruise director said there would be a helicopter evacuation around 10AM. While up on the Lido deck we saw the Coast Guard helicopter flying around the ship. They apparently dropped off medics and supplies and after a while we went back inside. A few minutes later there was an announcement that everyone needed to move indoors. I assume it was time to transport the passenger. We later found out from one of the comedians (not sure how he knew!) that it was a male passenger and he was going to be ok. I hear about these medical evacuations on here all the time, but can’t believe I actually experienced one. THINGS THAT DIDN’T GO SO SMOOTHLY The pizza place always had a long line. There were 3 guys making pizza, but they just couldn’t keep up. I finally got to the front with about 5 people in front of me and about 10 pizzas came out of the oven. Everyone took a whole pizza, sometimes more than 1, so when it was my turn they were all gone. I had to then wait another 10 minutes for the ones cooking. The pizza is good, but not good enough that I’d ever stand in line that long again. They need to fix it to make it go more smoothly-I’m just not sure how. JiJi’s for lunch also had long lines. Again, not sure how to fix it unless they add more space and more crew. They had it split into 2 lines and some people tried to cut in from the sides. Luckily there was an attendant there to direct people and she caught all the line cutters. I had finished my lunch about ½ hour before my cruise buddy got through the line and sat down to eat. I understand from lots of people that the food is REALLY good so it’s a popular spot. Just takes too long. Overall we had a great time, no real complaints at all. I loved the smaller size of the Sunshine and hope to sail her again before she leaves Charleston.
  12. Just got off the Sunshine today and they have been maskless since yesterday.
  13. Thank you for answering, ShakyBeef. I've been wanting to ask you----how did you come up with your name? I laugh every time I see it!
  14. I posted this on the Bahamas board but no one has answered yet and we leave on Monday. Thought I would try here too. If we are shopping on Bay Street and want to take a taxi to the fish fry, about how much does it cost? Do we just hail it in the street like we do here in the US?
  15. Wherever I travel (not just cruises) I always bring my own just in case. Some places don't have it and these days with supply issues, you just never know. If it's important to you to have it, bring your own.
  16. If we are shopping on Bay Street and want to take a taxi to the fish fry, about how much does it cost? Do we just hail it in the street like we do here in the US?
  17. Has anyone been to Build-A-Bear on the Sunshine recently? Just wondering if they have any of the cat in the hat stuffed animals? They didn't on our last cruise in 2019 because of supply issues. Still looking for one.
  18. Good to know! Maybe I'll just keep my normal balcony cabin.
  19. I never thought of that, thanks. I have it installed but never used it on my last cruises so it's new to me.
  20. What was your cabin number? I'd be interested in this room in the future.
  21. I did the check-in for my Carnival Sunshine cruise in 2 weeks. It asked for our TSA PreCheck numbers which I provided. Does that help expedite disembarkation somehow? Is there a separate line like there is at the airport?
  22. I was able to get a 12:30 p.m. check-in time for my cruise in two weeks on the Carnival Sunshine. I want to hit the muster drill before we go to the cabin at 1:30 to drop our bags. Does anyone know where muster station D is located?
