  1. hc and everyone else - I need to write that I did not create this list, it is from one of our esteemed posters of yore... around 2012, if they are around, please step up and identify yourself... I Am sure there are more to add here, please feel free to do so and let us know about them... Cheers and bon voyage
  2. Sounds like some research is on order before sailing.... See attached and ask for whatever strikes your fancy sans alcohol... Cheers and bon voyage Unusal Cocktail List For X.pdf
  3. Quite possible that another bar will be able to prepare the drinks you desire... there are quite a few on the ship... I Am thinking the bar at the pool might be the place to go for this... Cheers and bon voyage
  4. rf - when we sailed The Edge a few years back, the Chef at Eden prepared a phenomenal vegan meal for me... On most X ships, all one needs to do is alert the dining staff or chef that a vegan meal is desired and they will do it, even off menu, as it were.... bon appetit and bon voyage
  5. Actually, it is the preparation of 'fresh' vegetables which is not cheap when planning a menu. And for some of us, tastier.... bon appetit and bon voyage
  6. This is great to hear, as for our last two (2) sailings on Edge Class and wanting to go to D Boulud's Tasting menu and being turned down was dis-heartening. Now something great to look forward to on future sailings... bon appetit and bon voyage
  7. Pre-existing condition like this would likely not be covered so soon... In health and bon voyage
  8. h5 sorry to hear of the health situation, especially so close to your sailing... The best advice anyone can provide it to immediately call your point of reservation and ask, be prepared for a no but happy if there is some accommodation provided. Usually, it is a no from previous postings, but there are a few accommodations posted as well... Time is ticking, so get on the phone to ask ASAP... In health and bon voyage
  9. Okay, it seems like many, on this thread for now, are equating cost against value (to them) and that is fine to a great degree. Yet, many forget, that for some of us, the taste is an important factor in what will be purchased. Remember the "lobster" debate of the not too distant pass? Some have preferences for different types of the crustacean vs other types against if it was worth paying more for an additional tail.... I can only presume that those of us who believe that certain price points for some of the wines is well beyond the pale and I cannot deny them those thoughts or desires, yet for those of us who 'may' believe that the price points are what we are willing to pay for what may be considered a 'better' wine/pour is up to us, is it not? In the end, at least for me, the values for food and wine can only be balanced by the person(s) who are consuming and paying for them. Only we can decide if there was value there or not. If not, lesson learned, if so, great value and enjoyment... Cheers, bon appetit and bon voyage
  10. S2023 - yes, but it is no guarantee that you will be able to take it to your cabin. Pending on the Security Personnel upon returning to the ship, they may hold it until final night of the sailing, which is the policy for bringing wine on-board after initial embarkation. Cheers and bon voyage
  11. A few of us who peruse and/or post here use trip insurance store as they will help when a claim is to be made, in fact they help us determine which policy is the best for the trip being contemplated or taken. Steve is has an open forum for insurance questions, currently... Take a gander of questions here and there to gain some idea of challenges others have or had faced when making claims OR for your next trip, feel free to call or email them for info and with questions. IMO, most travel agents who take the order for your insurance is just doing that, if a claim is needed you are on your own as they have no real idea as to what is needed after they got their commission on the sale!!! LOL In health and bon voyage bon voyage
  12. pb the company you keep on and off ships!!! LOL Cheers and bon voyage
  13. sd57 check this list out... some items may have changed and etc....
  14. b178 I do understand the bewilderment in your comments, yet many N Americans do enjoy wine and have a lot of boutique wineries available to us... some good, some better, some great!!! While we do not have a lot of wineries per capita, we do enjoy what we have with gusto and fervor in our quest to have good drink and appreciate our diversity of offerings, overall. What can I say about food? We do love to eat and are frequently on the hunt for that great new chef and taste... and are willing to pay for it, on many levels. This is not to say that many of us really do enjoy and prefer homemade meals which are done well... Just like on cruises, we love and enjoy our dining experiences, rather that be in the MDR or SR's. At any rate, thank you for your thoughts and again I understand the position... Cheers, bon appetit and bon voyage
  15. kwf - I would suggest that a few of us do think about what we are doing, before, during and after... There are a few of us may stop along the way at any point in order to not be filled with remorse... Then there are a few of us who understand the ramifications at each of the points and decide it is worth it... LOL, then possibly remorse sets in afterwards, but we had fun!!! Cheers and bon voyage
  16. ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿฟ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿฟ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿฟ I Am in the same wine cellar.... LOL Cheers and bon voyage
  17. Nothing to define, as it were... There are a few coffee and tea brands that are considered to be either "standard' or "premium"... Both of which will be identified on a drink menu at each venue, such as Al Bacio where there are many specialty coffees and teas offered. Cheers and bon voyage
  18. s - what type of cruise fare did you purchase, AI or CO? With AI, you have a package included if CO then you need to determine how much soda, specialty coffees, teas, bottled waters you may want AND how much alcohol you drink as well. Please check the beverage package descriptions here on X's website, which will answer many of your questions, heretofore. Yet, we cannot offer a recommendation on this purchase as there are many variables which come into play, of which we do not know or can pretend to know. Ultimately, the best way to approach this is to possibly pay as you go or purchase one of the packages OR take the All Inclusive cruise fare... Many of us come at this from different desires pro and con and possibly... Cheers and bon voyage
  19. Actually, I believe the better exercise is to determine what the value of the up-grade is to you. Also, know there are sales on up-grades from time to time. It is very easy to figure out what the 'combined' reduced pricing is for basic wi-fi and classic beverage package is. The website does provide what the 'full cost' of these services are. Presumably you know the difference in cost of cruise only and AI, back out gratuities and you have the basic discounted pricing for wi-fi and beverage packages. It sounds like you are wanting to figure out the costs of upgrading wi-fi, which is at the website and please know that from time to time there are discounts for upgrading packages. Many of your decision points center around figuring out the cost difference between cruise only and AI, then adding back to the cruise only price the services you desire and compare back. Fixed pricing for upgrades or full purchase of the basic packages are a known quantities and found on the website. I trust you can figure out what is most beneficial and economical for you and the sailing you will be taking. bon voyage
  20. z no sure where you researched this, yet going to X's website, here is the list of beverages on ALL of the beverage packages... Cheers and bon voyage
  21. 2c no need to miss "traditional dining'.... just go at the time TD is usual for you... Same table and same MDR staff waiting for you... There will be others, most likely, dining at the same time as you... Keep the regimen and keep the time you desire to have... bon appetit and bon voyage
  22. 2c - Okay, I understand better. Once you get on-board go to the Maitre d' and request anytime dining and not fixed. That will be far better for you, in the long run, IMO. bon appetit and bon voyage
  23. jca - great question... LOL My TA is on maternity leave and I thought that I had put her through the paces for the last year working on this sailing, I would give her a break what I consider to be minor issues like removing incorrect names on my reservation and making sure that our dining reservations were still in tact... etc. I did keep her in the loop though, as I did not want her to go into labour trying to accommodate me, at this time!!! LOL bon voyage
  24. 2c - I Am sure if you want an 8.30p seating for dinner, there should be no issues with just walking up and request seating... Do not be confused, with Anytime Dining you can eat in any of the four (4) each night... then you can decide which you like the most, in terms of mood, decor or even staff. I trust you will find that having four (4) dining venues to choose from, to be more relaxed, intimate and enjoyable. bon appetit and bon voyage
  25. Our experience from the MDR and our Sommelier did come by our table several times with different 'off menu' wines to try... and we found two (2) which were great and she had them there at each dining... I think it did help that we brought a few bottles of great wine, which we included her and a few of the other Somm's in tasting, which helped. Not to say that all of the Somm's we have encountered are this way, but quite a few have been. Then again when there is a full sailing and there are a few passengers who just want wine regardless of the quality or style, passengers like us (you and I) are a breath of fresh air and they want to go above and beyond to provide a great experience... I Am happy that your experience was a great one and I find quite similar to mine... in fact, when I go to the MDR to figure out seating, I always ask the Maรฎtre d' which Somm do they consider to be very good, that is my test of location, location, location... LOL Thank you for pointing this out, as for many of us, this type of treatment just adds to a nicer sailing regardless of cabin level. Cheers and bon voyage
