  1. Thanks so much for your perspective. It’s nice to hear pluses & minuses reported in a calm manner.
  2. Absolutely the time of year you cruise has a big effect on passenger age. We only cruise with the family in summer, & then only on family lines like Royal or NCL, but mostly fall & winter. As I said, in my experience, Princess passenger are a few years younger, not older, than those on X, & have always heard that HAL draws the oldest. I’m sure the actual numbers are out there somewhere, but really not worth the bother. I’m hoping our upcoming Enchanted sailing is better than what’s being reported. We’ve enjoyed all of our Princess cruises. We’re going with an open mind & decide for ourselves. Happy cruising!!
  3. I Googled average age of Princess & HA passengers & found 57 for Princess & 64 for HA. 50 for Celebrity. although we haven’t cruised Celebrity in 5 years, when we first switched to Princess, I thought Princess passengers were a bit younger than Celebrity, so who knows. Never cruised HA.
  4. When we first starting cruising back in 1996 on Celebrity, the did not escort you on the ship, but they did escort every passenger to their cabin, even us to our lowly inside room.
  5. Thanks, you are right. But, I’ve never told kids to get off my lawn; not that old.
  6. The only time we cruise on ships with those attractions, RCCL or NCL, it’s with our kids/grandkids. Normally, we cruise in seasons where there are less families. Families are families; haven’t noticed the types.
  7. As it is for us. But I still don’t need the waterslides, bumper cars, skating rinks, etc. Just call me old!
  8. Or, they could make them like Celebrity’s Edge class, & just have a window that opens half way down!
  9. The Retreat Pool on Royal & Regal is head & shoulders better that that of Sky & Enchanted & the cramped pool on Grand class.
  10. Love NCL’s Boardwalk. The problem is, it’s on NCL ships. Celebrity’s M class are still my favorite sized ships.
  11. Totally agree. The Royal class buffet layout is so much better than the cramped buffet on their older ships.
  12. I would like to know how anyone knows which people on line at Guest Relations is there to remove tips? Eavesdropping?
  13. Is that $40 charge on your bill for both or just one of you?
  14. Without a doubt the cruise length affects the age of passengers. Also flow riders, rock climbing, water slides, etc. are going to attract families with kids. We only do 7 nighters with the kids/grandkids, otherwise 10-14 or more nights. I do feel that HAL, X, & Princess attract the oldest demographic, in descending order.
  15. Admittedly I haven’t cruised HAL, but have always heard they attract the oldest demographics in the industry. We recently switched from Celebrity to Princess & immediately thought the average guest age on Princess was about 5 years younger than X. Don’t see why you think Princess skews so old.
  16. So sad. That was a very moving video. We never sailed her, our first cruise was Meridian in ‘96, then we sailed her sister Zenith for years, including her last under Celebrity in 2007; still one of our top three cruises. I remember there was a legionnaires disease out break on Horizon, on one of her first voyages. Not an auspicious start. They removed her hot tub after that.
  17. We’ve stayed in rooms right near elevators & stairs on many ships in the past & never had noise problems.
  18. Please stay safe, try to enjoy the rest of your cruise.
  19. Naturally the people on Cruise Critic focus on cases on board; cruising is why we’re here. I do agree that media does love to focus, sensationalize covid on cruise ships.
  20. Excellent point/counterpoint comparison. Nice to see both sides. Thanks
  21. I get that. So why can’t someone just get chips or cash at the cashier, then cash the chips in or keep the cash? Personally, if I had leftover obc, I’d spend it in one of the shops on board, or drink it! Bought an iPad in the Apple store on Celebrity using obc once.
  22. Couldn’t someone also go to the casino & ask for cash to be charged to their account, then just keep the cash instead of gambling it?
