  1. You are correct. Less than 250 passengers. Quite a few less.
  2. The parking spot is a first. I ain't know influensar and agreed with the exit poll.
  3. Not saying it does not work. Less hassle and cost effective to use phone in suite.
  4. There are wine apps that will give you a clue to how fairly priced available wines are on the ship. wine-searcher.com being one.
  5. Call from room was about $1.79/minute last year. Very surprised. My satellite phone is useless on SS.
  6. Yes, if you are a public company, market to fill. I would not want to be on EJ with over 500 passengers and I think they will be happy at this number for quite awhile. I wouldn't give a nickel for whatever NCL is selling.
  7. More than seventy people in EJ bar department. Only bar at sea known to me is S.A.L.T. Bar on newer Silversea ships paying a premium to the bartender for being a mixologist. They operate under a different contract than bar staff. Are you positive?
  8. Yes. Steiner BluHorizons 10 x 26 Do your own research. My suggestion is if you have a decent pair, bring your own. Other than the Steiner name, these have nothing in common with mine.
  9. Dover sole.....TK versus Fil Rouge. Yes, TK will properly debone. My partner ordered the dish last night on Explora and the server attempted to debone on the plate in front of guest. Awkward! The fish served last night was superior to the (very) many had in TK. One persons opinion, of course. Personally, I enjoy separating the bone. SB still supplies fish knives in all venues. Explora does not and Silversea tossed theirs to reduce weight and save fuel costs.. I miss the fish knife. And try buying one on land.
  10. Looking forward to boarding Serenity during February. Currently parked next to it in Boston. After two nights on Explora, I fear that Crystal has a tough road ahead. Ship is amazing, service over the top as it should be with about 300 passengers on board. Dining options and presentation tops anything I've seen at sea. A bankroll that is larger than any competitor. Only self inflicted cuts will keep Explora from being in top spot within ten years. Assuming design changes are in place for future builds.
  11. Best source for accurate passenger count.....gangway. How many on board at the moment. How many are booked. How many coming on board at next port. Same for crew.
  12. Don't forget Ballantines. I can survive on the included single malts. Too soon to tell on the wines. After just a few hours on board, I really do not want to comment. But......initial impression is very positive. Over the top positive. Thanks to Hlitner, I knew packing certain items would cut angst. Something else learned from Hlitner, ask security for the true passenger count.
  13. Never will I understand the fuss about single supplements. Traveling solo or otherwise, per deim with thought to itinerary influences the booking.
  14. Yes, people are begging for buffet.
  15. Going back to your original post, I wondered why begin a review on the first day? Glad you did, and it has been a wonderful read along the way. Thanks for posting. Maybe the biggest takeaway so far is that there is nothing about EJ that favors extended voyages.
  16. Useful information. One more item added to the freight box.
  17. Is is not more fun on the MSC board? Referring to the quotes person.
  18. Obscene pricing of premium wine list is a sort of blessing. It has already been factored in as part of the freight to be brought on board.
  19. Surprisingly, not everyone lives in your world. It's a pleasure seeing well behaved children sharing an experience remembered for a lifetime.
  20. I keep learning new stuff on here. Like why do they serve Ardbeg? Because it is part of the family which supplies their champagne.
  21. This is why a large spinner suitcase is required to board Explora.
  22. We bought into the independent of MSC sales pitch. Hiring of talent from Seabourn and other lines that understood the concept trying to be achieved. Plugged into youtube and watched some YC videos featuring Acqua Panna bottles scattered on dining room tables. Read the Explora propaganda and purchased time on board. I would not have booked YC before watching the videos. After seeing the videos, I would never, ever book YC. We can survive with the product being offered today as long as they allow us to supplement items purchased ashore. The list grows.
  23. 500 is just a guess. The new man in charge, from MSC, is an indication of the path chosen.
  24. Yes, you should apologize. What kind of person would post a review after twelve hours on board? Every paragraph written had useful, uncluttered information. You covered a lot in a very short time. Not surprised with the 200 number and impressed that they are traveling with full compliment of staff if that proves to be true. Also, we'll learn how many are paying passengers as the week passes. Regardless, it is special to have the ship to yourselves. Can't see the passenger load improving until ship heads to Miami with maybe 500 passengers. Looks like the computer might be your best friend on this segment. Thanks for spending time with it.
  25. As previously typed, that is his comfort level. Riding like a king in YC. Something for everyone.
