  1. I was quoting knawes8. I didn't know how to "quote" correctly. Read my response again.
  2. Like who wants to take a rain shower in the middle of a room surrounded by glass walls? Me! People watching others go through the cold/hot were having a great time! Laughing at each other, and cheering each other on, as some questioned "how cold" "how hot", etc., as they exited the glass enclosed tunnel. I really enjoyed that feature! Other seemed to enjoy it as well, and it brought us all together, young and old alike. Having said that, $130 for a two day cruise is a bit pricey.
  3. I was on 12/11 - 12/15 no formal night either. Just white night.
  4. Thanks for posting this. We had such a good time with our first Yacht Club experience that in-laws decided to book one to join us in March. She's tech savvy and yet was confused as to why there seemed to be no choice of YC cabins on our date of departure. Now I understand. Thanks.
  5. Yes, it would be nice if we knew what guest services had to say. Leave us hanging much?
  6. I'm pretty brave when I am sitting at my computer and she's not lurking nearby. 🙂
  7. I'll assume that "blocked cabins" means all the cabins are not being used or obtainable? If that is so, not good for MSC but certainly will be less crowded for me. Thanks for the reply.
  8. I'm skeptical about the half full claim. I did many fake bookings and checked many decks for open bookings in various cabins. It appears the ship will not be full, but nowhere near half full. My best guess is about 80% booked. Just my observations, please feel free to correct me if I am wrong.
  9. Can't help with the boarding pass, but I will say, I've spent a long time trying to get my Voyagers Club acknowledged online. At this point my DWs Voyagers Club is all correct, including membership status, number and cruise points showing. For myself I get a screen that shows my VC number buy no VC page shows up with my information.
  10. I am sailing on Meraviglia this Sunday from PC. First time on MSC. Is that the cruise you are referring to with half capacity? If so, should be boarding rapidly.
  11. I tried to upgrade from Easy to Easy Plus, because they don't allow frozen drinks. It comes up full price for me, too. I would do that, if they confirmed that my Easy package payment (I've paid in full) would be deducted.
  12. True. It's just a short walk from the pier. We use it all the time as well.
  13. Done a few long triathlons and long open water swims myself, and that was exactly my thought. All those hours in the water, even for an experienced open water swimmer. Miraculous. Off topic: My grandson is a Navy rescue swimmer - bless those who saved this man. Rescue swimmers are remarkable people.
  14. Or you could be older and like to relax by yourself more often than those always-on-the-move youngsters. Bracing myself for the "OK Boomer" comments. 🙂 Seriously, it is just a matter of personal choice. I love cruising.
  15. In chilly weather, I would go with the larger obstructed view. save a few bucks, too. You may be out there less. IMHO there's not much difference in partially obstructed and full view. I/we don't spend a lot of time looking down at the water. The benefit for us is, more room/appearance of room, fresh air with solitude, morning coffee outdoors, stars at night, etc. I've been on both obs and full, many times, and there is little difference. First time I did obstructed view, I admit, I grumbled about the lifeboat to my long suffering DW, then quickly changed that attitude. 🙂 Lately we always book a balcony for the above reasons.
  16. Carnival Gold Status will get you the Silver loyalty card on MSC
  17. Well, that didn't take too long! I have just received confirmation that DWs Voyager status match was confirmed as gold, which is correct for CCL's platinum status. Thanks those who responded to my original question. Our first MSC cruise and we are ready to sail! Meraviglia, on Dec 11th out of Port Canaveral.
  18. Thanks. I appreciate your responding. They now specify it must be in a pdf, doc or docx format. The last time I also used a jpeg as well. This time I didn't get a confirmation that it was received. May wait a couple of days and try again.
  19. I was successful in getting my own loyalty match from Carnival to MSC. I have been trying, a month later now, to submit a match for my wife's CCl status. On the link https://www.msccruisesusa.com/manage-booking/msc-voyagers-club/status-match when I try to "choose file" and add the .PDF of her CCL sign and sail card it just shows the text, like: card.pdf. I hit the confirm button and it seemed to complete. I am not sure this is the way I had done it with my own status match. As I recall, when I put in my sign and sail card .pdf it showed as an actual picture of my card not just the text "card.pdf". My question is, shouldn't there be a picture of the card shown on the submission form and not just the words xxx.pdf, or am I misremembering my first successful submission? I have searched and seen many complaints about others having trouble doing the Loyalty Match, and I just felt like something was wrong. Thanks for any help.
  20. I have the easy package, but it is my understanding that frozen drinks are not included. The wife enjoy a pina colada or strawberry daiguiri once in a while, but she insisted that we get the easy package to save a little $$$, because she doesn't drink that much. Are you sure the pina coladas are included in the easy package? That would be a nice surprise!
  21. We are 7 cruise days away from making Platinum on Carnival. I have a 7 day Carnival cruise booked 'before' my MSC cruise in December which will bring my spouse and I to Platinum before our MSC cruise. I applied for the Voyager Club matching, hoping to use the credit for Platinum on Carnival. Of course, MSC approved me only for Silver level. Since I have not yet applied for my wife's Loyalty matching, I am thinking I can wait until we return from our Carnival cruise at which time we will both be Platinum, then apply for her loyalty matching which should bring her to Gold level. At least one of us will then have the Gold status. My confusion is, I'm wondering if two spouses can be two different levels on the same loyalty program? Each person is separate, correct? Sorry, but this is my first experience with MSC and their loyalty matching program. I am unable to confirm if my logic is correct, so here I am. Thanks for any advice from those in the know.
  22. We're both 75 years old, and took the hike to Pier 39 right off the ship. Nice relaxing walk with two pieces of luggage rolling behind us. Guess we're fortunate to be that healthy.
  23. I don't care for the way it was handled either. I had not heard about bad weather expectations in Skagway, it came as a complete surprise to us. Yes, no one said a word about the cancellation. The ony way we found out was word of mouthm, as everyone was telling us not to bother, the port is cancelled, as we headed to level 3 to disembark. No effort to go to another port, or spend more time at another, either. It was a great cruise otherwise, but I my dream cruise to Alaska will remain soured because of this.
