I've never seen anything above 25K and it seems like it's been awhile since it was over 20K. But I also have to admit it's not something I pay attention to, since I've had my card for several years.

NCL Spirit Spring 2024 and 2025 Sailings Disappear
julig22 replied to Aquarius_traveler129's topic in Norwegian Cruise Line
No notice yet but it's gone from my account and the CN I used was returned. I happened to be on the phone with my PCC on another matter on Friday and she found the cancellation notice that had just been released. Assuming we're getting the same FCC deals. -
Acceptable layover times for flights
julig22 replied to gailellen12's topic in Norwegian Cruise Line
Not that it helps overseas but I got Global Entry after getting a "legal" 90 minute layover at JFK, flying in from Italy. I'm too old to be running through the airport to get to the next gate! -

20% fcc hasn't been issued yet but my pcc suggested I book my replacement cruise now since people will be scrambling to rebook to use it. No indication that it won't be able to be used on an existing reservation that complies with the terms. The do tend to limit coupons to 2, so hard to say how much you can apply at any time. I've also got fcc from a price drop to apply, waiting for everything to return to my account. CN was already returned which was helpful to have for rebooking my replacement cruise. -
I agree. But being forewarned about potential issues helps. It's amazing how many times I've been told something isn't possible and had to let the person know that it actually was possible, and if they didn't know how to do it, please get a supervisor. So getting responses from people with actual experience can be helpful IMHO. But one does have to weigh the information they get on CC- sometimes rules change so how things were 10 years ago- or even last year - isn't always relevant.

Following as I have a similar situation, although not past final payment yet. My state room price went down but airfare went up. According to my PCC, I'd lose the lower airfare, plus the onboard upgrade that I have if I make changes now. Not too worried about the loss of the upgrade because I'll probably be using CC points to upgrade anyway but would obviously like the lower fare. I don't think anything else changed on my reservation when I've done an upgrade after FP but then again it's been awhile and I don't think there was anything that would have been different anyway. I'm wondering if I can wait and then request FCC for the price drop right after final payment.

Entertainment reservations (how do they check)
julig22 replied to cc-riderslc's topic in Norwegian Cruise Line
What about the look on the faces of those in the standby line as people with priority access go to the head of the line? Never done it, just heard that it is one of those latitudes perks that's kinda in the small print. -
Mine just cancelled today - it was one of the holdouts but now it's gone along with the others. I booked something else to take advantage of the 20% fcc but trying to figure out if there would be any issues upgrading now and then applying the 20% fcc when it becomes available.

There is no such thing as a "free" tag. What you get as a latitudes member is a card that has 2 coupons for the meals. Unfortunately, by virtue of poor design, it appears that the bottom of the card is a coupon - it is not. It is merely the instructions on how to get your free laundry done. Which is to write your latitudes status on both the bag and the laundry slip. Nothing about attaching a coupon. As I recall, in a suite you get a letter that says what to write on the bag, again no coupon. I can't speak to how they keep track of how much laundry anyone submits. I did 2 bags on a 14 day trip and was not charged. According to the onboard CN staff, it is 1/week. Maybe I'll ask the next time I take a tour - then again maybe I don't want to know.

I think the club balcony might 1/cabin BUT probably 2 for a 16 day cruise.

NCL Spirit Spring 2024 and 2025 Sailings Disappear
julig22 replied to Aquarius_traveler129's topic in Norwegian Cruise Line
Not entirely unexpected but the last time this happened and I was booked on the sole non-cancelled cruise, my on/default itinerary/on/default itinerary.... finally stayed on, it was just the cruises before and after than needed tweeking. So I'll take my 20% and go to Sydney by way of Tahiti and Fiji this year. I'm flexible! -

NCL DAWN 15 night European cruise, what type of cash is needed?
julig22 replied to aceparty's topic in Norwegian Cruise Line
Keep in mind that if you are using credit cards you should have one that does not charge foreign transaction fees - those can add up quite quickly. And some cards require you to let them know in advance that you are travelling - otherwise your card will be declined. While I use the Schwab ATM card if I need cash, I use the NCL card (BofA) for most of my travel purchases. No annual fee, no foreign transaction fee, no requirement to notify BofA about my plans. Onboard purchases give 3% "cash back", everything else is 1% I think. But those points can be used for room upgrades so well worth it to me to use their card over another card that might give more points for travel. -
NCL DAWN 15 night European cruise, what type of cash is needed?
julig22 replied to aceparty's topic in Norwegian Cruise Line
Most places take credit cards so the only cash needed would be for small purchases or transportation/tips. Stops in Europe are different than Caribbean - many are not focused on tourism so would prefer their local currency. Some places with accept either euros or pounds, but not so much USD. And expect a terrible exchange rate. I got a Charles Schwab account and get foreign currency at an ATM. Basically it's a prepaid ATM (visa) card, limited to the amount of money I've put into the account. No ties to any of my regular bank accounts so any fraud would be limited to the amount of money in the account. No charge to have the card, no foreign transaction fees, they also pay ATM fees. And if I should get into a bind and need money while overseas I can have funds transferred into the account. -
Does norwegian have real sales and deposit question
julig22 replied to latebuyer's topic in Norwegian Cruise Line
You have to be a little careful on the Tahiti/Hawaii trips, depending on which way you are going. They often use charter flights to Papeete so flying in early is not always an option. -
Just curious, when was the last time you had one of their burgers? As I said, they USED to be excellent. But then they changed what they were using as "meat" - probably about a year ago, maybe a little longer. And I've not gone back since, maybe they've gotten enough complaints that they are edible again.
-
I would also expect there would be fees as well. Choosing airlines or paying a fee to be able to upgrade from economy would be nice. And NCL if you are listening - maybe waive fees for higher latitudes levels as a perk...😊

Does norwegian have real sales and deposit question
julig22 replied to latebuyer's topic in Norwegian Cruise Line
Real sales are rare...prices fluctuate but the % off usually remains the same. It's now 35% off the "real" price, regardless of how they list it. Other parts might change, mostly affecting additional guests. Assuming you are in the US, all deposits are fully refundable until the final payment due date (120 days prior to your cruise date). You can book now and keep an eye out for price drops. If the price is lower at anytime before that final payment date you can call NCL and they will adjust your price. But that does alter your reservation so you get whatever offers are current, for better or worse. -
It would be nice if they could at least just offer a couple of options- something that could probably be automated somewhat. And then those 300 folks could actually focus on making the reservations instead of dealing with the barrage of phone calls when people aren't happy. On my last trip they booked a short layover in Seattle - doable but just barely, assuming nothing goes wrong. Given a choice, I would have chosen the next flight, 2 hours later. A flight I ended up on anyway because of delays, fortunately there was an available seat. Some of their choices are absurd!
