  1. I think the club balcony might 1/cabin BUT probably 2 for a 16 day cruise.
  2. Not entirely unexpected but the last time this happened and I was booked on the sole non-cancelled cruise, my on/default itinerary/on/default itinerary.... finally stayed on, it was just the cruises before and after than needed tweeking. So I'll take my 20% and go to Sydney by way of Tahiti and Fiji this year. I'm flexible!
  3. And December 2024 Sydney to Bali now officially cancelled as well.
  4. Best to post your request to the roll call if there is one.
  5. Keep in mind that if you are using credit cards you should have one that does not charge foreign transaction fees - those can add up quite quickly. And some cards require you to let them know in advance that you are travelling - otherwise your card will be declined. While I use the Schwab ATM card if I need cash, I use the NCL card (BofA) for most of my travel purchases. No annual fee, no foreign transaction fee, no requirement to notify BofA about my plans. Onboard purchases give 3% "cash back", everything else is 1% I think. But those points can be used for room upgrades so well worth it to me to use their card over another card that might give more points for travel.
  6. Sadly, it was terrible on 2 different ships...but based on the responses here, it sounds like they may have fixed the problem. I did have a burger on the Sun recently and it was much better.
  7. Most places take credit cards so the only cash needed would be for small purchases or transportation/tips. Stops in Europe are different than Caribbean - many are not focused on tourism so would prefer their local currency. Some places with accept either euros or pounds, but not so much USD. And expect a terrible exchange rate. I got a Charles Schwab account and get foreign currency at an ATM. Basically it's a prepaid ATM (visa) card, limited to the amount of money I've put into the account. No ties to any of my regular bank accounts so any fraud would be limited to the amount of money in the account. No charge to have the card, no foreign transaction fees, they also pay ATM fees. And if I should get into a bind and need money while overseas I can have funds transferred into the account.
  8. Most reputable tour operators have refund policies, often as late as 24 hrs - they are most likely fully aware of the schedule changes and are probably just rescheduling as they can. If rescheduling isn't an option, then they will refund.
  9. You have to be a little careful on the Tahiti/Hawaii trips, depending on which way you are going. They often use charter flights to Papeete so flying in early is not always an option.
  10. I forgot - I did get a burger at the "sports bar" - the Sun's equivalent to the Local - a few weeks ago. And it tasted like a real burger (even though I forgot to ask for bacon). So it seems like maybe they are back on track!
  11. Just curious, when was the last time you had one of their burgers? As I said, they USED to be excellent. But then they changed what they were using as "meat" - probably about a year ago, maybe a little longer. And I've not gone back since, maybe they've gotten enough complaints that they are edible again.
  12. I would also expect there would be fees as well. Choosing airlines or paying a fee to be able to upgrade from economy would be nice. And NCL if you are listening - maybe waive fees for higher latitudes levels as a perk...😊
  13. Real sales are rare...prices fluctuate but the % off usually remains the same. It's now 35% off the "real" price, regardless of how they list it. Other parts might change, mostly affecting additional guests. Assuming you are in the US, all deposits are fully refundable until the final payment due date (120 days prior to your cruise date). You can book now and keep an eye out for price drops. If the price is lower at anytime before that final payment date you can call NCL and they will adjust your price. But that does alter your reservation so you get whatever offers are current, for better or worse.
  14. It would be nice if they could at least just offer a couple of options- something that could probably be automated somewhat. And then those 300 folks could actually focus on making the reservations instead of dealing with the barrage of phone calls when people aren't happy. On my last trip they booked a short layover in Seattle - doable but just barely, assuming nothing goes wrong. Given a choice, I would have chosen the next flight, 2 hours later. A flight I ended up on anyway because of delays, fortunately there was an available seat. Some of their choices are absurd!
  15. Unfortunately, special orders would not negate the issue with the "meat" -in quotes because I really don't know what to call it! Burgers in the Local are cooked to order, more or less, as far as I know. I don't think what they use in the buffet is any different than what they use elsewhere.
  16. The burgers at O'Sheehans (or Local) used to be really good. But they changed the meat, as has already been mentioned. Not sure what the problem is but I found them nearly inedible and I'm not all that picky. Chalked it up to a fluke the first time, maybe just the supply for that particular ship. Tried again on my next cruise and still awful. Haven't gone back. I go to the buffet and get a chicken breast instead.
  17. Currently that is true. Comment I read was with respect to upcoming changes, details to come at a future date. Maybe a different interpretation of what was said, assuming it was the same webinar?
  18. It works fine on the US site but before going to the actual booking there is a notice that the itinerary has changed.
  19. Even though it doesn't show on the website, Spirit is still scheduled to be in Australia in December 2024 - unless somebody at NCL was really asleep at the wheel and forgot to notify people on the 2 remaining cruises in December 2024. Both fit the "extraordinary journey" category, both 1x itineraries. Dec 7 is Sydney to Bali, with 5 stops in Australia, in addition to Sydney, then on to Indonesia. Dec 21 is Bali to Singapore. Where it's coming from, where it's going to - who knows!
  20. I'm booked from Seward to Vancouver in August - decided it was easier to drive to Seattle (4-5hr drive) rather than even try to get reasonable flights to Anchorage, returning from Vancouver. I usually fly out of Eugene. Direct flights to/from Seattle, no worries about missing connections.
  21. Just read on another site that NCL is resetting their flight ticketing target-date to 75 days, more like it used to be. Sounds good but with all the airline changes and cancellations, I'm not sure that getting flight info earlier guarantees anything. So instead of complaints about not getting flight information, there will be complaints about changes. But the other news was about possible enhancements to the air promotion - to allow guest customizations.
  22. You should be able to call the world points number and have the points returned to your account, shouldn't take very long. I personally wouldn't just wait to see what happens.
  23. Australia to Bali and Bali to Singapore in December 2024 have not been cancelled yet. So they seem to still be planning something in that part of the world. Maybe NZ/Aus in late 2024, Asia in 2025.
  24. I'm a little jealous - but it depends on where they are redeploying. My cruise isn't on the chopping block at the moment but I'm open to choosing something else if the price is right! The cruise I have booked is really spendy... Probably my most expensive to date.
