Apparently postman wear shorts all year as it’s more comfortable if they get soaked in the rain than having to walk round in soggy heavy wet trousers.

I was thinking the same. I wouldn’t like anything except the always available steak and chicken.

Oh no an M & S so close . I go into the office one day a week and always go in at lunch or after work. My daughter loves Fortnum and Mason. At Christmas we have their Scotch Eggs and Pork pies. They deliver them fresh as we don’t ever really go to London.

You will love it. I did a B2B on my own this summer and loved it. I don’t know where the time went. There was so much to do and the weather wasn’t that good for sitting out either. Lovely and sunny in New York. I just did the Cunard excursion which was just perfect for me.

I was just mentioning that not all CUK ships are flagged elsewhere as the original poster implied. It has no relevance I agree but I was just pointing out that currently 3 ships are registered to Southampton so UK flagged.

I never said they should or passed a personal opinion I merely stated a fact. In fact Britannia Iona and Arvia are U K registered.

I would not suggest anything that relies on trains these days particularly travelling further than a potential taxi ride away . All aboard is usually around 4 30 so doesn’t give much time. Trains can be cancelled at short notice or not be as frequent.My advice from someone who lives in the area, is stay in Southampton. There is more than enough to see and do in the time available. If you really want to travel further afield take a Cunard excursion then you will be guaranteed to be back on time.

I am a solo traveller who is her her mid 60 ‘s . I don’t take cruise line excursions as I find them too expensive. La Corunna has a good tour from a private bus company that takes you to all the sights. You can get out at each one. You can’t miss the coach as its right outside port with hosts selling tickets. Done it twice. Costs 25 euro I think. Not been to Bilbao. Gijon I just wandered around the town.

I am certainly enjoying my cruising. Have two short ones left to go this year and looking forward to Queen Anne next year plus returns to old favourites. I am not interested in a land based holiday and have no intention of trying one any time soon. My daughter lives right by the sea in a small Devonshire seaside town so I can get a land based holiday vibe any time I want, all be it like stepping back to the 60’s

Oh that’s a shame I just dissolved the sachet in a bucket of water then put the item in to soak. When it was done just took it out and washed in machine. I can’t remember if the water in the bucket was hot or cold.

Oh no sad. Let’s hope they find him.

In U K you can by a sachet of something by Dr Becker for removing dye transfer. I buy it from Amazon. Might be worth a look.

I had 4114 on a T A and it was a brilliant location.Best location I have had. So handy for Britannia Restaurant and the theatre. I don’t remember hearing any noise from Sir Samuel’s to be honest it was only really busy in the day time and I would not have said they were a noisy crowd . I did go and watch the sail in from observation deck so couldn’t comment on what she could see from balcony. It was also nice a low as the wind was exceptionally lively going over. Throughly recommend either of the choices you have. In August sail by started at 5 30 I think we were alongside by 6 15

Can be from 3 weeks before or up to the day. There is no set time frame. If you can’t print luggage labels you can get them printed at Southampton if you are not flying. If you are flying hopefully someone else will be able to help.

It only has to be £1 more expensive to qualify as being more expensive .

I don’t think it’s really a refit it’s more dry dock for essential and legally required maintenance. I think there will be some areas re carpeted re upholstered and redecorated etc.. and I understand the WiFi will be upgraded in cabins but as for major changes I think people may be disappointed.

I must admit I renewed my annual cover this week and have paid extra to increase cover of personal possessions.

Yes I could never fly !! I don’t wear separates so only take day and evening/ formal dresses. I don’t outfit repeat either or do laundry!!so at the end of the day pack the two dresses I have worn away so by the end of the cruise I don’t have that much to pack up. Works well for me. I have not travelled widely only on cruises out of Southampton so being restrained has never needed to be an option. I am going on a 78 night voyage in 2025 so will have to rethink my strategy somewhat !!
