  1. I did not, but I do see my DBE showing up on my upcoming trip, so I know they know I'm a Sea Rover. I'm not worried about it because I figure if I want to book something I'll just have my travel agent sort it.
  2. I was in this same scenario in April, (my 3rd sailing, BFFs 1st, same cabin), I was given the wristband, but we were both given the "perks" as those are per cabin, including priority boarding.
  3. I'm not on the TA but on Scarlet in early this month I noticed the issue with the changeover in the galley and reported it on my feedback form after the cruise. They pulled everything from basically all the stations except breakfast diner and a few of the sandwiches that crossover at 11am and none reopened before noon. It was crazy! The dessert and bread place was getting everything reset and had the fruit and almost everything out by about 11:45 but wouldn't serve anyone until 12pm. Quite a queue developed!
  4. There are many things, but one small thing that makes me so happy is the water carafes in the room! I don't have to think about or plan to keep my water bottle filled just for room use because there's always plenty of water and I can even put it in the fridge if I want it chilled. I know it's a small thing but it makes a big difference to me!
  5. I was on Scarlet a week ago and Untitled happened only once, it was bookable but they didn't check bands at the door, unlike for some other shows. The room did fill up so maybe people just didn't book it and showed up last minute. It was the first night. The diva show was not bookable, we lined up outside the venue about 30 minutes before showtime and got great seats. There is no charge for any of the nighttime shows in my experience. I really hope Untitled isn't on it's way out, or if it is, it's to make way for Untitled 2, it's one of my favorite shows/experiences!
  6. Ship: Scarlet Lady Cabin#: 9102Z Deck #: 9 Cabin Category: Sea Terrace Sleeps: 2 Cabin Location: midway between Mid and Aft elevators Terrace/Window/Obstruction: None Noise Issues?: None Wind Issues?: No Connecting Cabin?: No Hammock: Yes Metal/Glass Terrace: Glass Advantages/Problems: This cabin is at the spot where the cabins shift to being slightly further in, and has the advantage of a slightly larger, angled deck. It was really nice spending time out there, my friend who was with me enjoyed sitting at the end and being able to look down the entire length of the ship. Would You Book Again?: Yes Comments:
  7. I'll be on board with you on the 5th! And I'm in the same boat with reservations. My plan is to just have my phone ready to jump on that ship wifi as soon as we board and just take it on then. I'm not sweating too much because I know walk ups are always a thing too and there's always a lot of switching around that happens. My last cruise I went in with nothing on the last night and it stayed that way accidentally, we ended up walking up and it worked out. I know it depends on ship capacity and bunch of other variables, but it's vacation, so I'm trying to go in with the mindset that it'll be ok whatever happens! We'll have a great cruise!
  8. My advice is look at the menus for all the restaurants, including the brunch menus, and make your plans based on what is most appealing to you. You will get a million different opinions on this as everyone has their favorites and least favorites, and rarely do they all line up perfectly which is why the choices on Virgin are so great. Personally, we love Test Kitchen and will do it every time we sail ( we even did it twice in one sailing once!), Gumbae is fun, but the food for me isn't a match. Loved Extra Virgin and Pink Agave. Would eat at Razzle Dazzle any time of day. Never tried Wake for dinner as the menu didn't appeal and our brunch experience was only so-so... But you can easily find someone (or more) who feels the opposite to me, so think more about what appeals to YOU. Look for videos if seeing what the food looks like will help. You've got some tough choices!
  9. Also doing a walk up is very doable. You may have a short wait like at a land restaurant, but I believe they do hold spots each night for walk ups as well.
  10. I think what everybody is saying is correct. I'll just add my own experiences to the mix. On our first VV we were able to change up one of our reservations easily after we decided we wanted to revisit one we really liked and skip one neither of us were excited about. That experience lead me to be more casual about how I made my reservations on our 2nd VV. I didn't even reserve a restaurant on our last night because we couldn't decide ahead of time what we wanted! I figured I'd be able to reserve once we figured it out on board. Well, by the time we decided there were no openings at the one we wanted, I admit, I was a little stressed. But we decided to just go with the flow and do a walk up, because worst case, we'd be eating pizza, and I honestly wouldn't have been mad about that! Since we were walking up we decided to head over early around 6 or so right after they open, and sure enough, we were seated right away! The caveat is our voyage was not full (I think 1500 on that one), but even so, I would still feel comfortable doing walk-up anywhere and just be prepared to wait like you might at a land restaurant on a busy night. Some restaurants are more popular, I think Pink Agave and Extra Virgin, and I would make sure to arrive on the early side if I wanted to make sure I got in with minimal wait. But I think they do hold back space for walk ups so the key is just relax and be on vacation and everything will work out!
  11. Actually on deck 14 you have the outdoor seating area for the Galley above you. I've never been in those cabins but it is definitely possible you will have some noise of chairs being moved up there.
  12. I have 2 daughters in this age group, so I guess I can answer. We've never taken our daughters on a Virgin cruise, though we are considering it. I don't know exactly what you mean by "risqué" in this context, but if you are imagining shows with nudity or people wandering the ship unclothed, no, that's not happening (though I believe there is a top optional sunbathing location on deck 17, easy to avoid if that's not your thing). Probably the show that most meets the risqué criteria would be NSA, and that's been put on hiatus and even if it wasn't, it's easy to just not go, I personally never saw it. The general vibe tends toward "adult" in the sense that there aren't "family friendly" filters placed on language or content, but the content is still generally appealing. The main show Duel Reality is a cirque du soliel style show and is amazing. Other shows are also good and may feature innuendo, but nothing I would be uncomfortable with having my girls there with me. I would say if you are comfortable watching RuPaul's Drag Race with her, it's probably fine (the ships do have a resident Diva aka drag queen). May not be the best analogy, but I've been binging it with my older one lately and they throw around a lot of innuendo! 😜 As far as whether she will like it, I recommend reading through some of the other newbie threads here, a lot of people have given great responses on the overall vibe of the ship for various cruising styles. You know her best so only you can really answer that. Happy sailing!
  13. Yes!!! European Fanta is the best Fanta! Though, I will say I found the Spanish Fanta different and not as good as the Fanta I had in other parts of Europe, so ymmv on that. My husband and I figure it's so much better because it has to compete with the always superior, and more available in Europe, Orangina.

  15. I wouldn't stress about it too much, as has been mentioned they do hold availability for walk ups. On our last cruise I purposely didn't book a restaurant for our last night because I wasn't sure where I wanted to eat that meal. Ended up stressing about it on board when the only openings were at Gunbae and we'd eaten there already that trip. But we decided to just walk in to Test Kitchen and were seated immediately. I think you don't need to worry about it but do have some flexibility, you may or may not be able to be seated right away as a walk up but they will get you in, or you could decide to try your luck at a different restaurant!
  16. My husband did the Rice Rice Baby thing. There is an upcharge, like @_tacocat_said, and it is a sushi making class. He definitely got to eat sushi, but I think what happens is you make sushi but, then you get to eat nicer, chef prepared sushi 😄 He has rolled his own sushi before, and he did enjoy the event and learned some things.
  17. I stayed in 10106A on Scarlet and it had a regular balcony even though the diagram made it appear smaller. 10102 had regular balcony with an extended diagonal piece. I believe there was a partition that opened on both sides of my balcony, but since that wasn't important to me I didn't pay close attention. I would imagine the set up for 106 and 102 balconies is the same on each deck.
  18. Yes. Yes you can wear shorts to dinner, and yes some people dress up. It's really up to the individual! I saw people show up to the appetizer event in Extra Virgin in swimwear (this event happens about an hour before they open for dinner but still...)!
  19. If it's just the two of you, you should also have no problem doing a walk up at Test Kitchen as well if you can't get a reservation for the menu you want. My husband and I did this 2 weeks ago. My take on Test Kitchen is people seem to love it or hate it. My husband and I love it. A is better than B, but both are good to us. I am not an adventurous eater and my husband is a bit of a foodie and somehow Test Kitchen magically works for both of us. Don't go in with preconceived notions about particular ingredients. I am also not a mushroom fan and that mushroom pate is my favorite thing! That said, if you can't stand the idea, you can substitute any course with its vegetarian alternative. In the case of mushroom and blue cheese, that is tomato (gazpacho) and mandarin orange (sorbet).
  20. We were on Scarlet last week and craps was $10 minimum with 3/4/5 odds. On Valiant in the Med this September it was $5 min. I don't know if the increase is due to location of sailing or if they just decided to increase across the board.
  21. There's no enforcement at luggage access either. We hand carried our luggage this time, but passed right through the luggage area where all the bags are just arranged by deck and there are some staff available to help you find it if you need it.
  22. I spent just about everyday of our cruise looking for disembarkation in the app because I knew we were supposed to book it and I knew we wanted a later time. Never found it until like the night before, yes under Shore Things, no idea why I couldn't find it before but the app had been very buggy all week. By the time I found it the only time the app was offering me was 7:45, which was a hard pass from us. We just never bothered to book a time and wandered off when we were ready, around 10 am. Minimal line on the gangway, but other wise it was a smooth flow. So I would say don't twist yourself up about booking the time slot. If you get the one you want perfect, but if not, there is no enforcement.
  23. Ship: Scarlet Lady Cabin#: 10106A Deck #: 10 Cabin Category: Central Sea Terrace Sleeps: 2 Cabin Location: Mid, between Mid and Aft elevators Terrace/Window/Obstruction: None Noise Issues?: None Wind Issues?: None Connecting Cabin? Where Does it Connect?: No Hammock: Yes Metal/Glass Terrace: Glass Advantages/Problems: It's easy to find because it is right at the end of the corridor before the corridor makes a sharp turn. I also really like deck 10 as it feels very central and easy to get around the ship from there. Would You Book Again?: Yes probably Comments: So on cruisedeckplans this cabin appears to have an angled balcony but it also appears like it may be short due to the deck layout. It's the most aft cabin with the "central" sea terrace designation. We got it as an upgrade from a Lock It In Limited View Sea Terrace. However, this cabin has a regular balcony, the cabin next door 10102A has a larger balcony with the extra angled portion. So for those looking for that that's the one to book!
  24. Yes, I think that's correct. In my example, I hadn't booked the cruise yet, but I was planning to, so I checked the spreadsheet linked in this thread to see if there were any referral links. I picked one, clicked on it, and booked. We both got loot, and I don't think we are otherwise linked or messed up. I haven't seen any evidence of that so far anyway. If you, who are already booked, want to share loot with a stranger, but without the risk of getting linked, you would share just your referral link here, but not your booking # or name. If someone who has not booked but is planning to wanted loot, they would use your link and you both would get loot, but no other attachment. The hypothesis is that the referral link is anonymous but booking # & name is not. Once both parties are booked there really is no going back without the risk of a troublesome attachment on board it seems.
  25. Well, I guess we'll find out! My hunch is it's more of an issue with the name and booking# linkages. The referral link seems to be anonymous and designed to "spread the word" for the line more than anything else. My recollection when I used it to book was that clickihg the link just brought up a generic booking page for that specific cruise. No mention of "join < referring name> on this voyage!" I think I wasn't even sure the thing worked until I saw the loot in my account after I booked.
