  1. Why not take the National Express coach to Victoria coach station if you are next door to it? Under an hour and costs £10 or less. https://www.nationalexpress.com/en Simon
  2. I know its a while ago, but we were in the ES by Newark airport in 2017 and they had gone to 2 free drinks, but after that, you could have anything for $2! Got drinks for my wife and myself...gave the barman $5 and he was happy...after a few, so were we! Simon
  3. I f you ever want to start a conversation with anyone in the UK, talk about the weather. No guarantee either way. It could be anything from blazing sunshine to 2 feet of snow! (well, a couple of inches anyway!) Simon
  4. Unfortunately I’ve booked a non refundable rate. Checked with them last night and if I cancel they will charge us the whole 4 days(!), so we’ll just have to make the best of it. We’re not there until April, so plenty of time for them to get the decorators etc in!🤞 Simon
  5. Is that from experience John, or reading the reviews? Simon
  6. I assume thats the Oasis TA Orla? We're on that too, but we are doing the one week cruise before as well, so doing a B2B. However, we are staying in Miami for 4 days prior to getting on Oasis. We have plumped for the Holiday Inn at the Port of Miami (on Biscayne Blvd). Not the cheapest, but you can get breakfast included, the Bayfront Park is right across the road which also has a 'marketplace' and an observation wheel. There is a Metromover station about 100yds away, which gives free travel round the area, together with a network of 'trolleys' which I believe are free and a HOHO bus stop right outside the hotel. See what you think. Simon
  7. ...and that is why, you never take the sea or the weather for granted! Be aware of your surroundings all the time. Simon
  8. I bet that was P&O?! They ruined our 5 week Xmas cruise and we've only just got a couple of grand compo out of them. Never going with P&O again! Simon
  9. We were on Anthem last August. Their Windjammer is the best in the business! Massive choice every night...we never went to the MDR!! Simon
  10. Should be OK, as said all in T5, which is basically just for BA flights. Use this website to check your connection https://www.heathrow.com/connecting-flights Simon
  11. ...as the actress said to the bishop!!!😁 Thanks Elaine, I think I will. Simon
  12. So the consensus seems to be United...I haven't got a problem with that. I'll have to decide on whether to go for economy plus. I'm 6' 3", so need all the leg room I can get(!) and its only another $30. Thanks for the insights. Simon
  13. Thanks for the comments…keep them coming! Simon
  14. Sorry, didn't really know where to put this! Planning a trip to the USA and we have to end up in Miami for a cruise (actually two!). We have a 2 1/2 hr internal flight. If prices are roughly the same and I'm not worried about getting or using points, would you, as an American, rather fly with United (either economy or economy plus) or American Airlines (either Main Cabin or Main Plus) and does anyone know if the upgrades to economy plus and main plus are worth it? Any comments gratefully received, as info on the airline websites is a bit vague, so I'd rather rely on peoples experiences. Thanks Simon
  15. We were on Anthem last summer, but I honestly can't remember if there was a RCCL bus. However, there is the port shuttle bus. They are blue (mainly), but some are yellow (just to confuse you!) and have PORT BUS written in big letters on the side. They take you to the Columbus statue at the bottom of Las Ramblas..I think about €3 single, €5 return. Only problem is, they serve all the terminals, so if there are 3 or 4 ships in, it can be very busy. Simon
  16. Great! Thanks very much.
  17. Thanks for that. Do you know roughly how long they stop at the rocket park? If I do both tours, I should have lots of time at the rocket park. Simon
  18. We were on a 35 night P&O cruise over Xmas. I know people are less likely to do a roll call on P&O rather than RCI, but we thought there would be some interest...only about 5 of us! Got on the ship and found the FB group had over 150 members!...but I don't do FB! Simon
  19. I'm glad it's not just me!! Simon
  20. I know...not strictly about departures, but hope someone in the Houston area can answer this for me. I looked at a few YouTube videos of the centre and on them there seems to be one tram tour, but when you go on the centre website there are 3! So my question is have you got to do all 3 tours or is one a combination of the other two?...'cos I want to see it all!! Thanks for any help. Simon
  21. Another little warning (sorry!)...we have done the sight seeing tour twice (basically to kill time) before being dropped back at EWR(Newark), BUT British Airways only do evening flights out of there, so they don't open for bag drop until about 3.30pm (or at least, thats how it was in 2017!). The tour normally drops you at EWR about 2pm, so you have 90 mins kicking your heels waiting to get rid of your luggage. As to the tour, when we did it it was basically a drive round with a 30 min stop near the twin towers to look round the memorial (but not enough time to do the museum bit). If memory serves, that was the only stop. Simon
  22. I will NEVER EVER buy the internet on any ship. For the price they charge per day, I get a whole month of access at home that actually works...it is outrageous! Just wait until a port and pick up the free wifi in the terminal...or just follow the crew! Simon
  23. Work out the figures regarding cost, but Southampton is a relatively small regional airport and it is a lot less hassle going through there than Heathrow or Gatwick and its only about 20 mins from the port by cab, so a lot less stressful time wise too. If it works for you, nothing to stop you flying from there. Simon
  24. You won't disembark until around 7. Usual advice is first flight about 12, but need two crucial pieces of information. i) how are you planning to travel? ii) ...and most important, what day of the week do you disembark? Simon
  25. They all have 'repeated' ports, so for me, I would do option 3...purely because you can easily spend another 4 or 5 days 'doing' Barcelona...just watch out for the pickpockets on Las Ramblas!! Simon
