Cool Cruiser (2/15)

  1. All of them have 15 seats so all of them should be able to accommodate you. The question is can you still book it? If you can book it I would do it asap.
  2. Last summer we had two weeks on Symphony and we enjoyed CK. Never tried the MDR, actually we only went to the MDR for a kitchen tour and the muster thing at the beginning as it was our muster station. We did a lot of specialty restaurants and CK. Both were ok, was it like in a land based restaurant with 2 Michelin stars? No, but that's fine, I don't need that constantly and my kids never want that type of restaurant. Depending on your room location the biggest advantage outside of food is no elevator to go to CK. But we also liked the fact that CK isn't too big. We never had unfriendly staff and we always got food we liked. Also no waiting times and for lunch and breakfast.
  3. The thing I don't like about situations like that. Did they apologize because: 1. They agree that they didn't perform well and it warrants an apology or 2. Somebody told them there are those annoying guests to shut them up just apologies, they will be off the ship soon. 3. Management threatened them with consequences if they didn't apologize, so they did despite the fact that they really don't understand for what they are apologizing. Obviously 1. is the one that should be the case, 3 is I guess sometimes also just ok, but I wonder how often it is 2.
  4. Actually not necessary. You needed big displays or lots of buttons in each car (that can break). Now the cars don't need that. Only the floors. If floor 10 has broken buttons you can still reach all floors and depart from all floors except 10. But if the buttons in elevator B are broken you can't use that elevator at all. Also you save power and time. If you go from floor 1 to 17 the system might allow someone else to board on 3 or maybe 16 but it should not stop on 3, 7 and 10 on the way. making it quicker for the users (and those quicker available for others) and it opens the mechanical doors less. I'm guessing on a ship it is the same as on land. If you have enough floors and enough elevators the smart ones could work out cheaper overall.
  5. Great to know. I'm European. so it won't be dangerous for me 🙂
  6. I think she will get the wrist bands or tickets for 8 on the ship before actual stop at Coco Cay. So she will get 8 and give them to whomever she likes and then 8 people can show up and use the cabana.
  7. That is true, eliminating extra work is something that I can support. Like the people ordering two main courses for dinner - poor waiters and kitchen staff have extra work. Why can't they be happy with one? Or the people who request an extra towel, one more to wash but if 500 people do it it suddenly becomes a lot of extra work. And why do they need so many bars that serve alcohol? I don't drink so all that work that could be saved by having less bars... I guess my point is there are a lot of things that could be considered extra work but some customers like them so they should be there. Would you change cruise lines if you only get one meal per dinner instead of maybe two - probably not. Would anybody change because duck hunting is prohibited - probably not. But if they take two many things away customers might change cruise lines and I think even the users in this thread would all have different things that would push them over the line and make them change.
  8. That is sort of a funny statement. I would draw the opposite conclusion. If problems arise I would want a travel agent. The alternative is that you try to reach someone in a call center. That person doesn't care about you and he/she works for a company that really doesn't care too much either. A competent travel agent on the other hand would be exactly the person you need to discuss and sort out problems you have. Other then that. If the money works, try the ultimate family suite. Space for the 5 of you and the children will most likely love it. Plus you don't have to worry about drinks, internet, dining etc. it is all included.
  9. What makes you think that he doesn't have a break between his contracts?
  10. I can only answer 3. and only how it was for our booking in March this year in star class. Passengers 1 and 2 are me and my wife. 3 and 4 our children (6 and 9 years old). Then later on we booked an additional person 29 years old and he pays the same as the children. I found it strange as a 29 year old would probably eat more and drink alcohol and in general probably consume more then the children. But his price was the same as for the children.
  11. And to top it the picture needs to be at a table in an crowded suite lounge.
  12. If you can't get any reasonable amount of money back, just tell your daughter that is joining you she can bring a girlfriend. And change the name on the reservation. Why waste the already paid money if you can change the person and take somebody else?
  13. I've not used them but if they work and are available on our next cruise I think they are perfect for the kids (6 and 8). They would loose the cards 100% so an armband is perfect.
  14. How about not cancelling her but instead of changing her? Just to be clear I'm talking about the person to accompany you on the cruise not your wife. Maybe you could bring another family member (Grandma, brother, ...)?
  15. Something that I've read now at at least twice in here is instead of a 20k suite go on 6 to 8 cruises per year. That is not an option for everyone. To start with we can only go during school holidays but more important I can't leave my company for 8 weeks a year while cruising. This year is the first in a very long time where I'm on holidays for 4 weeks and I'm not sure how I will manage that work wise. Summary: I'm sure there are people who have 20k for cruises but can't take the time off to go cruisingfor more then a week...
