  1. The presentation of that dessert, is wonderful. I'm sure it is yummy. Maybe DOUBLE yummy. I've never been to AK... but, will sail in a couple of days. I've been monitoring the Juneau weather online -- i've seen rain, sunshine, and a mix of everything else. Sounds like your weather has been amazing! ----Matthew
  2. Good information, everyone. When I was on Zuidy (last year)... the MDR would have a wide wide array for breakfast. Short pants, included. Lunch, was a "bit" of a step up. And, dinner... if you had long pants & a collared shirt --- even a polo, you fitted in just fine. Not to go off-topic, but ties make me cringe. :)
  3. I appreciate your feedback, and I'll be glad once I am aboard. (Still reading other replies and your add'l reporting at this moment.) Thanks again! ----Matthew
  4. Nola26,,, hi there. Good to know. I've got a 1:40pm "boarding time". See you on board!!! ---Matthew
  5. ZGSC.. Thank you for your post... I am going to be on the same ship for the May 20 sailing. I can't wait! May I ask, did you have an assigned boarding "time"? Just wondering. By the way, your cabin looks especially nice! I'm "inside", but have done the inside before. Love the EXACT same burger at Dive In. Yum! Is the orange smoothie a drink available there? Or, from a bar, etc... Alcohol? Thanks again for the post. ---misterMatthew
  6. Everyone, thank you so much for responding. I was not able to go online for a little while there (and, thusly... am catching up!!). Great information! I should have said (originally) that I have been in the process of waiting for a replacement card --- as I misplaced mine. And, that is a "Please allow 7 to 10 working days sir" process. Ugg. I don't mind waiting in a bit of a line at the services desk. I guess it will give me a chance to mingle with others. On disembarkation day... I have to catch a plane at SEA-TAC at around 3pm. Tons of time. Oh, and yes... I am ready to fill-out the health form (if necessary). Again, thank you everyone!! ---misterMatthew Again, thank you everyone.
  7. Hello, kind folks! I am getting ready for my cruise. Just 8 days away. Woohoo! This will be my 2nd cruise with HAL. I will be on Eurodam, and sailing out of Seattle. So, let me give some quick information. I am on the HAL website at this moment... and at the (I think it is the Online Check-in) page. It is the one with tabs: Guest, Passport, Flights, Contacts, Account, Contract, Docs. So, on that page -- every tab (except one) has a green color. So, all of those are "done". It let me download a pdf of my Boarding Pass, and my Luggage tags. The final tab is not yet green. But, I cannot remember if that tab "turns" green later? Sorry if that is a silly question. Next question... I chose "cash" for my account. It indicates the dollar amount to bring. But, where I am confused is this: Where & when will I hand them the cash? It mentions "Service Desk". Is that in the cruise terminal building? Or, aboard the ship? Lastly, is there a "health" survey.. question sheet, something something that I need to take care of. I remember doing "it" when I was on Zuidy last year. Again, thank you to everyone on the message board with your wonderful help!!! --- misterMatthew (just 8 days from sailing!!!!!!!!!!)
  8. Interesting stuff... I had to look up the Weng-Weng. Never heard of it up until four minutes ago. Yikes, that is a lot of DIFFERENT types of alcohol. Is there something called "Pusser's Punch"... etc? If I have the name wrong, do forgive me. I thought i overheard that beverage being ordered last time on the Zuidy. ----misterMatthew
  9. Really good trip report!!! I am counting the days (and, hours) until May 20 & my trip to AK!!! ----misterMatthew
  10. Thank you so much for posting... really enjoying your insight. I will be on that ship May 20. Again, thanks!!! ---misterMatthew
  11. Really nice posting! I will be on Eurodam (may 20 to 27). Cannot wait!!! -misterMatthew
  12. The crew is awesome. I love the layout of the ship. -matthew
  13. Doone, nice review. Thank you so much for posting it. Did the DiveIn or Pizzeria have waits? Just wondering, as you mentioned a sold out ship.
  14. My 1st cruise on HAL, this last April, i got the card. It was in my cabin. I suppose i was a 1 star? Or, zero star mariner? Not sure the lingo. Anyhow--i asked the bartender "what can i get with this?". His answer was "just tell me what you would like". I gave him the card + $2.00 in cash.
  15. Ok. Im slightly confused. Let me offer more clarity---if it helps. Is it "reqd" if you want TO GO ASHORE at Victoria? --Matthew
  16. Hello kind folks... I am sailing the Eurodam to AK Embark: 5/20/23 (Seattle, WA) Disembark: 5/27/23 (Seattle, WA) May I ask a few questions... 1) The only port that is outside of the U.S. is Victoria, CAN. Will I need a passport. I do not currently have a passport. But, will shortly get one anyways. 2) My flight will land in Seattle at 8:25am. And (from what I understand) that is the first flight of the day for the aircraft. It is on Southwest Air. I have heard that HAL has a shuttle bus, or buses, that will take you from SEA-TAC to the port. And, you pre-pay to get a ticket. But, I am not aware of the cost? The shuttle bus... is it more of a 3rd party company? Or, actually operated by HAL? Also, what are the "likely" times it will start picking up folks at SEA-TAC? And, once I give my luggage to the shuttle bus attendant --- do I NO LONGER need to keep the luggage in my possession? I ask this, because it is, obviously, unknown when my boarding time will be? I know I typed a lot... but, I'm curious about this. Thanks! 3) The Eurodam returns to port at 7am, or is at least scheduled to. Is the disembarkation process a difficult one? I do have one HAL cruise under my belt --- & that included clearing customs at San Diego. 4) How early will the shuttle buses begin taking people from the port to SEA-TAC. I have not booked my return flight yet. I am eyeing several flights.. there is one that leaves the airport at 12:20pm. In your opinion, do you think it is likely that I can MAKE that flight ... or, am I pressing my luck? Is the port a short distance from SEA-TAC? 5) Lastly, at the port, is there anything to do? to see? to eat? to drink? Oh, forgot to mention -- my embark day (and disembark day) are both on a Saturday. I thank you so much for help with this!! ----Matthew

  18. I was on HAL (Zuidy) this last April. The lifejackets stay in your cabin. Yes, you watch the video on your in-cabin television. Then go to the muster location with your room key. There were a LOT of personnel directing people .. and it goes smoothly & quickly. It was my first cruise -- and was slightly surprised that "all" they wanted to do was swipe your Room Key. No "do you have any questions". No "as a reminder you will blah blah". No delay. Lol. ----Matthew
  19. My background 1st: Have cruised once. It was Zuiderdam (04/22). It was Sea of Cortez. Made it a solo cruise. Upcoming: 7 days (on Eurodam) to Alaska (to/from Seattle). Will sail in May, 2023 Okay, some questions: Does every single HAL cruise have "that" introduction in the Showroom? You know, the one that brings out the Top crew members for Hotel, Food, Security, Navigation, and so forth? (Forgive me, I'm sure the BIG CHEESE for each department has an official name.) I kind of liked that they did it on my previous cruise. I've been doing a bit of research, and from what I can tell comparing the Zuidy and Eurodam, the Eurodam has a pizza parlor. And, the Eurodam has a slightly larger capacity. I'm still learning as this will be my 2nd cruise. Can you folks point out something (anything at all) that I should not overlook aboard the Eurodam? No rush at all. I have time. Not that it matters.. I chose 6th deck, mid-ship, inside for my last cruise. Felt like smooth sailing. I chose 6th deck, mid-ship, inside for this cruise also. I imagine (?) smooth sailing is ahead? Thank you... ---Matthew
  20. Mine would have to be a Midori sour. It looks like Prestone anti-freeze. But, it's good stuff! -- matthew
  21. For those that have sailed to AK... or those that just "know"... can you let me know what it is like for sunrise and sunset? I ask because a rider (I do UBER) today told me that "In May, you're likely to see Sunrise at 4am. And, you will see Sunset at 11pm". (While in Juneau). They said they were a resident in Juneau, AK. Umm, is it similar for other parts of AK? Sitka? Ketchikan? (I may have spelled those cities wrong!). Thank you. ---matthew
  22. C-52-FOREVER... Thank you so much. I'm really looking forward to it. I've never been to AK. ---Matthew
