  1. She's still being built and has another sea trial to complete, plus the shipyard can only work as fast as their suppliers are able to as well. There are a lot of unknowns when it comes to delivery, and these days there is precedent for delayed delivery for many reasons. I think my point remains valid.
  2. I hate to say this, but I'd book it just for the fact that the inaugural could be delayed or cancelled for any number of reasons (other lines have experienced delays in delivery post-covid).
  3. I'm so glad that I'm not the only one thinking Icon is ugly 🙂 Folks will likely have a great time on her, but dear lord RCL really sacrificed something to try to do it all on this ship.
  4. I love seeing that MarQ is on the Venezia! We had him on the Dream in December and he really seemed to be great at his job.
  5. I meant someone on the design team needed to take a further out view of the overall look of the ship (in the renderings). On one hand, i'm excited to see a new ship sailing. On the other, when the new ship looks so odd at every angle, I wish they would have put more thought into how she looks overall vs. cramming everything on it.
  6. Icon has started a series of weeklong Sea Trials according to this source. CruiseHive also reporting similar without a video. She looks...interesting..while floating. I know they were trying to go all in on the ship's design, but i can't help but wonder if anyone took a step back from the renderings and photos to look at her profile from a distance.
  7. 100% agree. By that point, most folks have already shoved their way through the Lido line, too, making the entire day that much easier. I showed up at 1:15 for my last cruise, and I might just make that my new thing going forward after how quick the whole thing was.
  8. Not to mention, land vacations give the benefit of running to Walmart to get more if some of it goes bad for whatever reason.
  9. Lol. Highly doubt it, especially given how far it is from other ports frequented by the cruise lines.
  10. I agree with the other poster- any vacation is what you make of it. Also, as another mentioned, you're getting on a ship that just got out of a drydock at the end of May, so you're likely going to get just as good of an experience as any in terms of the overall condition of the ship. Curious- what bells and whistles are you hoping the Pride has that others didn't? If there's something specific another ship offers that you enjoyed more, you could always try to transfer the deposit to another sailing.
  11. I've seen a few reports of elation having trouble producing fresh water onboard and needing to stop in port Canaveral to resupply, interrupting it's current voyage. Anyone onboard and can tell us what it's like or if they've updated you about port adjustments? Nassau isn't far from the Florida coast, I'm hopeful that folks won't experience huge interruptions.
  12. Interesting that me asking for clarification from three entirely vague posts is somehow baiting folks into saying something that isn't kind about another group of cruisers. It's almost like you're saying the quiet part out loud for those other posters by your comments and trying to confirm what I was reading into it. Asking a question is giving the benefit of the doubt when untrue or unkind statements are made. Edit: I'll add that if people aren't willing to clarify their comments in an open forum and stand behind them, they shouldn't post them at all.
  13. I see that it's hard for you to be kind.
  14. I'm just asking for folks to be clear with their words and intentions. How is asking for clarity "baiting" anyone, unless the words I'm asking for clarity around are taking cheap shots at certain groups of people? *i'll note that I've asked for clarification three times in this thread and have been ignored by all of those original posters.
  15. As economical as this might be, I hope they don't kill these itineraries. RCL is known for sending some of their newer and/or "amplified" ships on unique, longer itineraries and Carnival really needs to compete with them for that market share with the Celebration and Mardi Gras, IMHO.
  16. In my experience, they're mostly done using the main lounge by a reasonable time anyway, so noise at night shouldn't be a huge factor. During the day they do closed rehearsals and teching, but you'll be out and about and likely won't notice it unless your family are nappers while cruising.
  17. Eh, not really. They often will just bring their dogs onboard and if they stop at a particular cabin, the cruise line has to permit the locals entry.
  18. I hope so. I really want to see more unique journeys that don't just hit Cozumel/Belize/Costa Maya or Ensenada/PV/Catalina on the other side. Smaller ships allow for much more unique itineraries that I would much rather spend my money on.
  19. I feel like Cruise with Ben and David did a similar route on either the Mardi Gras or Celebration and seemed to have an excellent time. Either way, they are both new ships and you'll find a diverse mix of folks onboard. I've never had a bad time on a Carnival cruise 🙂
  20. I'm wondering if he's giving a heads up since it might cause some extra noise and wants folks with balconies to not be surprised if there is suddenly a very close up view of the lock walls at 6am?
  21. Could you request an accessible cabin and note the need, or call their special needs department and request a room that ensures what you need?
