  1. Definitely no reason to be sorry here. Be safe down there! I'm wondering if @wolft927 made the drive yesterday? The last thing Florida needs right now is tourism trying to make their ships when their coastal cities are under threat of storm surge. I wish companies would have taken the hit a few days ago and cancelled things earlier, to be honest.
  2. Right. I think what I'm getting at is that on the Mardi Gras specifically, and other ships of that design (Princess has a ship based on that design as well), people might become more reluctant to purchase those balconies once they find out they will have zero privacy. The exact selling point that made aft balconies so popular is greatly diminished with this ship's design.
  3. Is the lobster included, or an upcharge? If it's included, I'd do what @PrincessArlena'sDad suggested and order both!
  4. Right. It's a strange concept for sure. I really enjoy having open deck space for everyone to enjoy, but I also think the concept devalues the very selling point of those rear facing balcony cabins. That photo you posted solidified for me that I'd never want to be in one of them lol.
  5. Ultimate Dining Package. Oasis-Class ships have a ton of specialty dining that's not included in the price of the sailing as seen here. The commenter recommended the UDP to take advantage of them, as they have really good reviews around these boards, plus, it would alleviate any concern about lines for food as you'd have reservations.
  6. In some ways, I understand why they'd just use normal glass and make those rooms like any other balcony. On the other hand, I'm genuinely wondering why they didn't consider frosting those windows to those balconies or offering a button to frost the windows or something (like hotel bathrooms that are glass have, for example). I know it would be more expensive to do both of those alternate options, but it seems like being part of the museum exhibit would come with a reduced rate or some privacy considerations.
  7. If you can make it past the wild vendors at the port who harass you on the way, that is.
  8. This is the best way to look at it. The cruise lines are in a huge rush to placate their shareholders and returned to service too quickly given staffing and supply issues. Good luck with the rough seas, hopefully they find a pocket of smooth so y'all can enjoy the rest of your cruise without seasickness!
  9. If the cruise was already paid in full by both and one doesn't show up day of, I don't see why they'd suddenly up-charge for single supplement. It's not like the second traveler is going to be refunded their money at that point. If anything, I'd think OP's +1 would want to get a covid test to see if they have it. If they do and notify carnival within 24 hours of the result, they could get a FCC according to Carniva's guidelines.
  10. I'll let y'all know. We haven't done it yet lol.
  11. I don't know if that's true. I posted another thread in this forum on this topic, as I had to do a double take at booking a cruise leaving out of Galveston, TX (as an example). I really wasn't sure if that port would be friendly to us if we stayed there given the political climate in the state and the amount of folks from TX that will be onboard a ship.
  12. The mini refrigerator in the cabins are actually not refrigerators, they are only coolers. They all have notices on the door saying as much. OP really needs to contact Carnival's special needs dept. for their options, which another helpful commenter already posted a link to.
  13. I was waiting to see who was going to tell him XD The new celebrity cruise only fares are super competitive, too, IMHO. Carnival does just fine not rolling the drinks in. I wasn't sure what the poster was really trying to say in that post, though...
  14. Seems like they're really pushing her along at 17.5kts. Shipfinder link.
  15. Agreed. Marginal is even being kind. I will never go back to Nassau.
  16. On most ships it's certainly automated to an extent, but not that far. There's generally still a technician at audio, carp, lighting, ME, etc. to ensure safety and operation. To keep on budget, (to add to your point as well), licensing these days is extremely expensive. Carnival might not be looking to invest as heavily in this for the rights to the songs or show they choose to use as their production.
  17. Have not done that. Last time I had to get from one to the other I used a local transportation company. It's much, much cheaper and more plentiful option wise than just using carnival's. There are so many options in that corridor for transportation, I'd suggest avoiding the up-charge if you can. Last time I flew into FLL it was an early morning flight and I was able to catch the Flix Bus to downtown Miami, which drops you off right at the shops outside the port. From there I ubered and total costed me like $15 for both.
  18. That needs to happen. I walked from where Oasis parks at Nassau to the town and was constantly harassed once I left the actual pier area. I didn't find the walk to be very far (even though they didn't have those nice shade things yet), but I did find the port itself to be very uncomfortable as a solo tourist who had a group of girls try to harass and follow him through a market after they had gotten into a fight on the street corner. It's good to hear that Nassau is doing something about their port situation. I know it doesn't help having 10,000+ people dropped into it on a given day when there's four ships there, but I vowed to myself to never go back there after my first visit.
  19. Good luck! I really was hoping for a break from it, and even put it in the safe at one point just to remember that I needed it to check for my activity list for the day that I had saved.
  20. Oooh! I can answer this one! I did Izumi lunch and sat next to a very lovely couple, one of whom was allergic to shellfish. They told the host prior to the lunch starting and the kitchen was very accommodating to them, including making a vegetarian sushi option and swapping steak out for shrimp or seafood at another point. They were extremely accommodating. I'm wondering if you could let guest services or the main dining room staff know ahead of time so that the venue has a heads up, but otherwise it seems like your party will be in good shape.
  21. Yeah, It's entirely possible. There's a ton of information on the app and if I were looking for events to plan out my night with I could have easily missed it.
  22. I didn't say age had anything to do with the app, I was saying that RCL is strongly encouraging their app over their cruse compass to convey information to the masses (as evidenced by the cruise compass no longer being sent to each stateroom). If the app is the new way of things for RCL, and they want folks to dress a certain way, that would also need to be communicated in the app and the cruise compass for folks using both. In my experience, it wasn't communicated on the app and I was surprised when I arrived for dinner and some people were wearing formal wear. edit: i just want to point out that I'm saying and and not "but." If folks want a formal night, it needs to be communicated in both places, as RCL is encouraging folks toward the app and away from the cruise compass.
  23. Sure, and I guess my point was to the original comment that formal night is "wear whatever you want night." It's become that way because RCL and other lines have pushed people to their apps but haven't moved all of the content over with it, so how does one have an expectation of a formal night without it being communicated across the promoted channels? FWIW, if I were any old customer, I wouldn't want to read both the app (which has a ton of info in it) and a cruise compass. It's too much info.
  24. ...which wasn't delivered to my stateroom any day of my 4 day cruise. I know now that it likely was available at guest services, but again, on any size ship if that's the only way it's communicated then how can we expect people to know or prepare?
  25. In all fairness, when I was on Freedom a few months ago now the app never indicated what kind of "night" it was when I clicked on and looked at the MDR in the app. I wondered how people figured it out, and as someone who is tech savvy never really saw it in the app. (In all fairness, I wasn't really looking for it, but would have noticed it)
