  1. Unless sitting on a (potentially quite chilly) balcony in northern Norway is a must, you'll find that the IV staterooms are quite good for viewing all the wonderful views of the fjords, etc., while also being in a warm stateroom. Also, the Edge class ships, of which Apex is the 2nd one built, have a refreshingly unique calming ambiance and decor. Eden restaurant for dinner is an especially good, upscale meal.
  2. @cruisestitch They're going to the Arctic circle, according to the OP. They'll be fine, even if not truly "outside" (whatever that even means on a billion-dollar floating hotel)
  3. Use cruisedeckplans.com to get an idea of what kind of view your rooms have. Here is the obstructed cabin list: https://www.cruisedeckplans.com/ships/ov.php?ship=Celebrity-Apex&cabins=Edge E2 cabins are only available on decks 6,7,and 8. Generally, only cabins on deck 6 are going to possibly have an obstruction (most do not) - which in almost every case will be a lifeboat on deck 5 (just below your room) that blocks your direct view of the water. The indentation does not matter. All the E2 IVs are about the same size.
  4. My point was that summer cruises in Japan may be harder to sell, hence the constant reductions in price
  5. July isn’t the best time to visit Japan. Can be quite hot and humid.
  6. Jeju is day 8. Nagasaki is day 9. Must be a mistake.
  7. A complete and concise answer, thanks. I checked, and Chase does not charge foreign transaction fees for the card I use. So that settles my Oyster/no Oyster decision.
  8. A related question for me is: If I use a US credit card in the Tube, do I get charged bank conversion fees each time I use it? That would steer me towards buying a $40 Oyster card instead for our 4 days in London.
  9. A better word for that is “pristine”, I think.
  10. Curious as to what constitutes “authentic experience” when visiting a remote continent where no human civilization has ever existed.
  11. When do you go to Alaska? Keep in mind that there is a high chance that it will be too cool (even in July) for any outdoor waterslides, pools to be enjoyable (even if they're open). So it wouldn't matter whether you are on an NCL or Royal ship with those things. Alaska is about the scenery and ports anyway. I bet they'll be just fine.
  12. I see mentioned that it could be isolated to Android phones. My iPhone and iPad both let me in after changing the password.
  13. Something behind the scenes was either lost, or corrupted. It hit both RC and Celebrity (and likely Silverseas). Go thru the password change process and you will be able to login with the new password.
  14. Your old password will no longer work. After you change it, it will let you login.
  15. If I were trying to debug this issue I would suspect that the password salting value had been changed, which would cause everyone’s password to be unusable.
  16. I switched to only using Chrome for celebritycruises.com. They also don’t seem to work with password managers on my iMac. Annoying, but only slight so.
  17. I assume those are AUS$ prices? I paid 78 US$ per person, plus $31 total in gratuity, for Eden in the upcoming Apex Transatlantic.
  18. The ships use the term “Lido deck”, meaning the deck area with the pool. Normally that is the same deck as the buffet on most/every ship I have been on.
  19. “Lido” is an older term for a public pool. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lido_(swimming_pool)
  20. I imagine the cleanup will be done as expeditiously as possible - but this is thousands of tons of steel. Plus, it has to be cut up into smaller sized pieces to be removed and hauled away. That isn't a quick process if it is to be done safely.
  21. Prayers for anyone possibly on the bridge at that time. It appears from the map that all cruise ships would have to pass this bridge (now destroyed). This will not be passable for a long time. Likely weeks before a wide enough passage can be established. From the port schedule, Carnival Legend was due in on March 31st. What is the alternative nearby port?
  22. The #1 way you avoid kids is not booking Carnival (or Royal, or MSC, and of course Disney) at any time of the year.
