  1. We have this question out with our PA but thought I'd post here. We have not found an easy way to cruise to Ancorage/Whittier, spend a number of days in the mountains and sail back again to Vancouver/Seattle. 14 to 21 days. Guesssing we'll have to b2b - a North Bound then a South Bound. 3 Star HA but open to any options. Wondering what others have found. We are thinking May 2025. Thanks in advance for your assistance. Scott
  2. Just off of the Eurodam and the Filet at the Pinnacle grill was perfect. Medium Rare.
  3. Disembarking tomorrow. Good food, good drink, good service, good islands, nice people. Nice cruise. Athens in Sept. 🙂
  4. Pinnacle Grill was very good. Filet, medium rare, tender, hot and tasty. DW had scallops - also great.
  5. BTW - WiFi is much improved over Alaska cruise last July. Face Time with Daughter in Houston was great.
  6. Some coat and ties for Gents. Gals are a bit dressier. Scarves, nicer dresses, nothing I would call formal. - maybe a few. Scott
  7. Just a couple of notes: The trio in Oceans Bar is pretty good, worth listening to while playing Gin Rummy, Dueling Pianos has been full, the Comedian was pretty good as was the pianist on the World Stage. Have enjoyed the fare at the MDR and Lido buffet - carving table is always good. The frosted glass in the Crows Nest has not yet been repaired, but the coffee is good. Have not made it to The Rolling Stone for music - too loud for my old ears. Tamirand was OK - filet was over cooked, everything else was very good. We are enjoying most everything on the Eurodam. We are aft on deck 8 - next aft cabin on our Sept. trip out of Athens is on Deck 5 - less lounge chair noise. The service is very good and the staff is almost always smiling and eager to serve. ottahand is doing a great job keeping this thread up to date. Scott 🙂
  8. Leaving for Ft Lauderdale to board on the 13th. 😉
  9. Thanks for the recent review. Has the frosted Window in the Explorers Cafe' been repaired/replaced? It was the second or third panel from the center of the forward windows on the Port side. 6 days, 2 hours and 18 minutes.
  10. Aren't US Dollars accepted in most port cities?
  11. We have shopped at Chico's for many years. Just not for this type of dress. Previously it would have been Macy's Dillards and Nordstroms. Went to Chico's first and completed our mission. 🙂
  12. Thanks all for your input. We visited Chico's this morning and found a nice black dress, slacks and top. Dress and slacks in the Travellers Series. Whew 🙂 Scott
  13. Thanks all for your input. We will be stopping by Dillards, Macys and Nordstrom tomorrow. This upcoming cruise will be the start of our 50th Anniversary year. We are also doing an 11 night in the Mediterranean and then a short one the following Dec. from Galveston. Thanks again, Scott
  14. Hi All - My DW and I, are again on the Eurodom Early January and have only enjoyed a few other cruises. What is an appropriate Black Dress for women of the beautiful age of 70? I guess this is a strange topic for a man to ask - - However, we have not needed this type of clothing in our previous lives - we traveled Full-Time for 8 years in our 42' Diesel pusher pulling our Jeep. Any way, she would wear it to the MDR, Tamarind, maybe to a piano bar. Nothing really fancy - Traditional. Thanks in advance, 🙂 Scott
  15. Thank you for your reviews. We will be sailing again on Eurodam mid-January '24. She was our first exposure to HAL for our Alaska trip last July, and found her Service good, Our room Stewards were great as was the Service in the MDR. We also found the entertainment lacking and after a Show and BB King, we found ourselves occupying ourselves in other ways. She, the Eurodam, could use some attention. We share some of the criticisms listed above, but also many of the positive comments. We will be on the Oosterdam in Sept '24. We are waiting until after these trips to determine if we sail with HAL again. We have sailed Princess and Royal Caribbean. We like the Ideas that HAL advertises/promotes but oftentimes find the execution to be lacking, Upon saying this, We have not been on many Cruises or Cruise Ships and don't have as much experience that many here have. We remain Hopeful. Scott
  16. We have been booked on that cruise for a long time. 5th deck Aft.
  17. We have only been an a handful of cruises so far but like my card on a lanyard. I leave it on a hook by the door next to my cane and never leave the room without it. It hangs around my neck and I put the attached card in my shirt pocket. I do not like things in my pants pockets. We tried the clear plastic sleave on our last cruise on the Eurodam, but the card was too big to fit into the sleave. The Sales Person in the Gift Shop punched the card for us. I also like the lanyard as a memento of our trip.
  18. My perception of HAL is diminishing. I will certainly be looking at other cruise lines in the future. If they have problems with the easy stuff how can they be expected to handle the difficult? This OBC thing should not be that hard. I have 2 Booked cruises. I hope they go well. Scott
  19. You might contact HAL direct and ask that your Service OBC be applied to your Bookings. If declined, you might consider escalating to a Supervisor. I would guess that your Service should be considered at the time you Booked the cruise and should be part of your Profile so it can be applied to all future Bookings. Upon saying that, I have no idea if the HAL Profile has the ability to capture this important information. As noted above, our PCC made numerous errors when we Booked our September 2024 cruise. Perhaps that is why our HAL Supervisor made sure both of our Bookings had current OBCs applied, both AARP and Military Service. Good luck. Scott
  20. Yes. Got Air credit as well. No Drink Package or ship WiFi.
  21. We booked a European cruise NOT using HIA and got the Air Credit any way. Right after the promotion came out, we booked our trip, and were told by our PCC that Air Credit was included. There was no comment about the HIA package. When we received our email Confirmation the Air Fare credit was not listed so I contacted our PCC. He said that he would get back to us the next day. After a couple of emails were exchanged inquiring as how the Air Fare credit works, I called HAL direct. I was told by the first telephone PCC that the Air Fare credit can not be used because of our booking. I asked why and the PCC could not give me an answer so I asked for a Supervisor. After being on Hold for about 10 mins I hung up and redialed. The second telephone PCC told me it could not be used because we had not purchased HIA, I again asked to speak with a supervisor. Got through this time after a short Hold. She was great. She understood the problem and reviewed our Booking conversation with our PCC. I had advised her that I was quite displeased with this error and that we are thinking about cancelling and rebooking with another cruise line. When the Supervisor came back on we were offered free Crew Appreciation, Specialty Dining, and some OBC. We did not cancel. I too have found that some PCCs are better than others, but it remains important to review all Documents to verify what you are getting is what you agreed to. We have 2 cruises booked with HAL for 2024. We will probably book an additional cruise for our 50th wedding anniversary on Dec. 21, 2024. Not sure it will be HAL though. Scott
  22. Thanks all - At the end of the day.... We have received the OBCs for my Service and also AARP. It is a shame that these OBCs are so confusing/difficult to receive. I did not mean to sidetrack this discussion. Scott
  23. Thank you Trapper44 for your comment. I will take a look. I spent 2+ hours this morning on 2 separate phone calls. The first call lasted about 30 mins and I was disconnected. I did not get a call back when I was disconnected. The second call lasted 1 1/2 hours. I now have OBCs for Military Service and AARP for both of our booked cruises. I am quite disappointed with HAL as a whole and was inclined to cancel both bookings. Our PCC made a number of errors for our Sept. 2024 cruise that was booked in October of this year. These problems/errors accounted for most of the time spent on the phone and was fixed by a Supervisor. I find it difficult to do business with this company. Web site is terrible, PCC are not accurate and often do not return calls or emails. Scott
  24. Thanks all for your responses - According to a Supervisor at HAL, Military OBCs have been issued for both of our upcoming cruises as well as the AARP OBC. I understand that they are issued per cruise. Scott
