  1. The downtown Miami locations are very busy on turnaround days. The offices are small and get very busy. A cab from the port to the facilities will save you some time. I know that Avis, Budget and Hertz have downtown locations.
  2. Check pricing with Go Port Canaveral, Cortrans or Mears Transportation. They are three companies used by many Cruise Critic cruisers.
  3. When you arrive at the terminal entrance at Port Everglades the Uber or Lyft will be allowed to enter terminal property. They normally ask to see you passport or other identification and will ask the driver for his too.
  4. Sorry about the mixup but I have never heard of this hotel on Hollywood Beach. When I walk on the boardwalk in Hollywood Beach I notice a lot of foot traffic at the Riptide and Diane Hotels. They are two small boutique hotels.
  5. Never heard of this place and I have a condo in Hallandale Beach Florida for the last thirty five years. It was be a really small hotel near Fort Lauderdale Beach.
  6. Check rates for the Riverside Hotel on Las Olas Blvd in downtown Fort Lauderdale. A great reasonably priced hotel close to a few great restaurants. Very close to FLL. As for transportation to the Port Of Miami it's going to cost you. Uber or Lyft will run about sixty dollars and a cab around seventy five plus tip. If you want to ride in style check rates for Larry's Limos. A highly recommended company used by many Cruise Critic posters.
  7. If your bringing wheelchairs or renting them ship members will assist you getting the passengers onto the ship. I have never seen a motorized handicapped transport used in any terminal in the United States, Europe or Asia. As for passenger assistance, ask any terminal employee and they will advise you where to go. Depending on how many employees are delegated to this task will give you an idea how long will it take to get everyone safely aboard the vessel.
  8. Contact Larry's Limos for a price quote. A reputable company recommended by many Cruise Critic posters including myself. Will be more expensive than Uber or Lyft but well worth it!
  9. The easiest way to deal with a situation like this is to tell your friends, relatives and co workers that this is the ship we are going on, what week and where the ship is sailing too. Everyone will want to go with you until they have to pay the bill. Everyone will tell you the cruise is too expensive and they can get a better deal. Give them all the information and have them book themselves. Saves you all the aggravation associated with a group booking.
  10. You can ask any room steward for a wine glass. I have never been told I couldn't have one. If I bring wine onboard with me I normally consume it in my stateroom. If I bring a special expensive bottle I carry a glass with me to the Dining Room. I have never been charged a corkage fee since my first cruise in May 1983.
  11. Earliest check in time is usually 10:00AM. Earliest boarding time is 11:00AM and the latest your allowed to board the ship is 2:30PM for a 4:00 PM sailing. A few years ago on a Holland America Eurodam sailing from Port Everglades we watched a few different families arrive approximately one hour before the ships departure. They were trying to enter the terminal and all the doors were locked and check in was closed. They were upset and still standing around the terminal as the ship left the dock.
  12. You either book early or late seating or My Time Dining. My Time Dining is fine, especially if on your first night you ask to be seated at the same table at the same time with the same waitstaff. On most ships My Time Dining each table is used two times during dinner service. If dining room service begins at 6:00PM they try to serve you and get you done by 8:00PM so that they can seat another party as soon as you leave.
  13. The Miami Intercontinental Hotel is only minutes away from the Port Of Miami. A cab from MIA should run you less than thirty dollars. On embarkation day a cab to the Port is less than ten dollars. A cab, Uber or Lyft should be a lot easier that a shared shuttle or a reserved shuttle. At the conclusion of your cruise a cab back to MIA is around twenty eight dollars plus tip.
  14. What part of the world do you want to cruise to? Most Caribbean nations require you to be vaccinated. Some countries now are dropping the negative test requirements.
  15. I not sure about shuttle service but I normally would rent a vehicle and return it in Tampa on embarkation day. If your concerned about parking fees at your hotel just rent the vehicle at MCO for the minimum twenty four hour period and return it as soon as you arrive in Tampa.
  16. My family sailed on the five day Adventure Of The Seas Bermuda cruise on June 9th 2022. We arrived at the terminal around 11:00AM and the line for luggage drop off wasn't too long. We drove towards the Parking Garage and was notified that parking was restricted to handicapped passengers only. We drove over to the abandoned warehouse lot and parked there. The short walk back to the terminal took less than ten minutes. When we arrived at the terminal the line was quite long and took over an hour to check in. I asked an employee and was told they were short staffed. Having a reservation didn't make a difference and everyone was on the same line. We noticed that orange juice and lemonade was in short supply in the Windjammer. On the first sea day my wife asked for a glass of white wine at the Solarium Bar. I walked over and asked the overworked bartender for the wine. He explained he didn't have any white wine at his station and no one available to go down to the liquor room to get any. An hour later I asked for an Absolut Screwdriver. He pointed to Gray Goose or Stoli Vodka. I settled for Gray Goose. Every night our last stop was a drink or two in the Viking Crown. We made conversation with a twenty three year female veteran bar steward from Jamaica. She explained she had white wine if we wanted any. She also told us she had two weeks left on her eight month contract. Her immediate supervisor was strong arming her to extend her contract an additional ten weeks. She told him her knees were shot and she was considering retirement. She told us everyone on board were being asked to extend there contracts.
  17. Tampa to Port Canaveral is a more realistic scenario. The three hour ride adds a cushion in case of bad weather, a brush fire or a traffic accident. Try to be one of the passengers that disembarks early to add extra time on your ride from Tampa to Port Canaveral.
  18. It's an easy four to five hour ride from Tampa to Fort Lauderdale or Miami. If the ship docks at 6:00AM and you carry off your luggage at 7:00AM you should make it. One accident on Interstate 75 and you may watch the ship in South Florida sail without you. Is there any possibility of leaving the first cruise on Saturday in Tampa and hopping on the next sailing on Sunday from South Florida.
  19. There are no rental car locations directly at Port Everglades. There are a few locations that are right outside of the Port. They include Alamo which has a location on Eller Drive. Normally I drop my family off at Port Everglades along with our luggage. I then return the rental at Hollywood Fort Lauderdale International Airport and take a car over to the Port. A cab usually costs between fifteen and twenty dollars for the short ten minute ride. When I arrive at the Port on the conclusion of my cruise we hop in a cab for the short ride over to the Rental Car Center.
  20. Get a price quote from Larry's Limos. They are highly recommended by many Cruise Critic posters including myself. Otherwise Uber or Lyft will fit the bill.
  21. Stop at any Publix Supermarket in South Florida. Large selection and reasonable prices. Also a great store for last minute items.
  22. No hotel in Cape Canaveral offers you free parking for the duration of your cruise. The price for parking is added to your minimum one night stay at most hotels. I have personally stayed at Country Inns and Suites and was satisfied with my stay there. I usually have a rental vehicle and return it after I drop off my family and luggage at Port Canaveral.
  23. There are four hotels in Dania Beach on Federal Highway, just ten minutes south of FLL. They include the Hotel Dello and a Holiday Inn Express, They are also less than fifteen minutes away from Port Everglades.
  24. Mears, Cruise Control and Cortrans are three companies recommended by many Cruise Critic posters.
  25. Personally, I wouldn't book a domestic flight from MIA before 12 Noon. Miami International Airport has been a zoo lately. Always very busy lately especially with all the delays and cancellations.
