  1. I agree with you. I will add that over the past year or more this board has been interesting, informative and useful without the incessant cheerleading that it had become. We like to hear different comments and decide for ourselves whether something is troublesome or important to us from a variety of opinions.
  2. The first thing that we do after boarding is to get that days medication and take it before leaving the dock. It's pre packaged in little envelopes and is what the staff uses. I have been told that if you have ever been seasick you might never want to cruise again so we take a proactive approach and have never had a problem. They give it to you at the reception desk and we find it totally non-drowsy.
  3. Could this be a rather slow and passive/ aggressive marketing approach to appeal to a younger and less sedentary demographic? I'm not quite understanding why there are so may problems. We do not use the excursions. Are the Regent premium pay situations any better?
  4. Wow..I think we will take your advice. We had a Bermuda cruise planned that got dropped due to the whole covid/wuhan thing. Fast forward with another booked. Will the fashion police be morphing into a laundry police monitoring group? I think we'll stick with Regent and Silversea..Are bunny ears a fashion statement?
  5. Meanwhile, the "other" group is raving about how fantastic the destination people are because they retrieved a lost phone. I agree that the GM should be informed of this debacle.
  6. I wouldn't rush a final payment unless this is clarified. It wouldn't work for us. Very disappointing.
  7. I find this often mentioned analogy offensive. It seems to me that when derision is aimed at non "luxury" lines, in reality it is more like a "not our kind, dear" type of comment. I was always taught that money doesn't know who owns it. I had thought that this CC board had gotten over this theme the past couple of years.
  8. I am continually amazed at how this topic keeps coming up. Since when do the kids call the shots? In our house it was "here is where we are going. here is what you will wear and here is how you will behave" Long before the electronic stuff.... no way would there be crayons and puzzles and doodads brought to a dining table. I agree with Pcardad about a lot of adult behaviors that are offensive. Kids aren't the ones saving pool chairs. They aren't saving theatre seats and trivia hour seats. I don't see kids walking out of the bathrooms right past the sinks. They probably don't have the tvs blasting in the cabin next door to me because of hearing problems. Whiners cover all ages. I crack up at the adults that drag around a cutesy bunch of stuffed animals into the dining rooms and put them on the table. To the people who keep suggesting Disney or Carnival, maybe someone should suggest Holland America. That is just as useful, pointed and unhelpful.
  9. One of them tries to and tries and tries.
  10. I see "the" logo is on this very site at the bottom of the page. There is a lot going on over there.
  11. Actually I was responding to the Original Poster who had asked about Regent tipping.
  12. We always tip our cabin crew.......as we get ready to disembark
  13. That's disappointing. Was it a loser fleetwide or ship specific and therefore scrapped all around?
  14. I think the topic may have been commented on in the ongoing, manic dress code thread.
  15. I saw that and would be interested in the answer. There also seems to be an ongoing problem with pool chair hogging which we find very frustrating and I'm hoping this is not going to continue to be a thing. Thanks
  16. While we like Silversea very much, I'm betting that the head office is aware of this thread and have chosen to allow a clearly weak and ineffective Captain to remain in charge. They should be concerned that he seems to be powerless and would be a problem in the event of an emergency. I personally don't care about the cigars as much as their refusal to enforce their own rules. There a lot of people on this site who have more cruise nights than I can possibly imagine and the fact that this issue is ongoing is very troubling. When there are no consequences, rules are useless.
  17. My sister stayed in one of those cabins recently and absolutely loved it....as a single.
  18. Good point. Unless mandated, I can't imagine staying on a ship for a whole cruise just to look at the port scenery.
  19. Wow..travel may not be the right thing for you at this time. The chances of coming in contact with "the great unwashed" on Oceana as you call them, may just be too stressful and dangerous.
  20. What a great idea! For your convenience and for those who are too stubborn or entitled to follow the rules...give them a jacket.... and charge for each use because as with all else...due to covid... they would have to be immediately cleaned for sanitary reasons. Dry cleaning charged to onboard account.
