  1. Mrlevin, I hope you are correct. There has been an updated post on the thread on the Hurtigruten forum. It appears that now their expedition cruise is not canceled but will be rerouted to completely avoid Perú.
  2. I’m so pleased that your cruise has not been canceled but has just been modified. Yes, I expect something similar will happen to my cruise. But I feel bad for my Peruvian tour guide who will be losing his income.
  3. In my opinion this is a good enough reason for Oceania not to follow. The less O resembles X the better!
  4. I posted yesterday that Hurtigruten has canceled at least one cruise because of very stringent Covid restrictions in the port of Callao (Lima) Perú. What was shared on the Hurtigruten forum from a cancellation notice received from corporate was that ships with even one single Covid case would be quarantined at the port of Callao. I started a new thread here on the Regent forum, but it’s a little messy looking because my IT skills are not what they should be. I’m booked on Mariner’s 3 November sailing from Los Angeles to Lima. I suppose they’ll just find a different place to disembark us. I’m sure I will make the best of the situation. My private tour guide in lima is pretty bummed out from the cancellations he has started to receive.
  5. Sorry, I thought I was posting to the Regent forum. I’ve asked the moderator to move it for me……
  6. My tour guide in Lima had some cancellations today from Hurtigruten pax as their entire cruise has been canceled due to stringent COVID restrictions for cruise ships stopping at Callao (Lima). Here’s a portion of the post on the Hurtigruten forum I have just had notification from Hurtigruten that my entire tour (Galápagos islands, Ancient History and Highlights of South America) has been cancelled. ……… This is the reason we were given in the email: Peruvian authorities currently operate strict COVID-19 regulations, including a full ship quarantine if there is a single positive case on board. We liaised closely with Peruvian authorities and received signals from local partners that these stringent infection control measures would be lifted in time for your expedition. However, we have not received confirmation from authorities that such restrictions have been removed. After careful consideration and consultation with relevant authorities, we have taken the difficult decision to cancel your upcoming expedition due to the potential impact on our guests, crew and ship. The cancellation also applies to any hotels, flights, and pre- and post-cruise programmes booked through Hurtigruten Expeditions. We are very sorry for this development. Here’s a link to that thread in the Hurtigruten forum. Hopefully more information will be shared. I’m booked on Mariner’s 3 November cruise LA to Lima…..or, I thought I was! 🤔
  7. My tour guide in lima tells he just got a cancellation from clients who are booked on Hurtigruten cruises bc they will skip the port of Callao (Oct 15 is mentioned). Can anyone shed some light for us? I’m booked on a Regent cruise, (hopefully) debarking in Callao in November. Thx!
  8. I’m wondering if this is a question for Jan1. I seem to recall hearing about a secret algorithm to calculate the state room category one receives for the free 20th cruise. I am imagining that both the length of the cruise and the stateroom category might have an influence on the secret sauce that determines that free cruise! Just guessing.
  9. I really enjoyed my culinary classes on Riviera last November. I did two, and I think the third one was canceled by the CDC. I thought they were great; I used my phone to film the Chef during his cooking demonstration and then was able to re-create a fabulous paella at home on New Year’s Day. Really enjoyed both classes .
  10. Last year on the Riviera, trivia was in the afternoon.
  11. I’ll see you on Mariner’s 3 Nov LA to Lima cruise! And I think we disembark together to meet up with Ernest, as I recall. Looking forward to the adventure!
  12. No, and that means it still s🤔cks.
  13. I believe other cruiselines have itins that embark from Seward. Celebrity comes to mind (shudder!).
  14. Really enjoying your posts! Am looking forward to my first Regent cruise in early November. 😊
  15. Yes, but I plan on getting my booster at least 14 days before my 3 November embarkation onto Regent’s Mariner in LA. Should help against the later variants (knock on wood as she raps her head w her knuckles)!
  16. A bench can be an important aspect of accessibility. When my DH broke his hip, he made use of a portable bench in the shower.
  17. I don’t think you can call the air department and speak to someone these days. I think it’s via email only, and their turnaround time is supposed to be about a week, but reality is it’s often longer than that.
  18. Very interesting, no investment in production shows. We always say, if you want a good production show, go to Broadway!
